  2. Because I have been going to Kings Dominion for thirty-five years ( and going ) I have ridden the Rebel Yell at least once on every visit. The same can be said to their Log Flume. As for flat rides, there are three that I have ridden the most: The Scrambler, The Tilt-a-Whirl, and The Triple Spin. You can say that I'm a sucker for these rides. Then there are rides I wish I could ride more of: the Orbit ride at Dorney Park and the Disc-O. 35 YEARS OF GOING TO kINGS dOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!
  3. Wow, to be more scarier than Dollywood's Mystery Mine? This I need to ride it to believe it. After riding a scary ride, all I can say is that I rode it, I survived it, and I . . . peed my pants!
  4. Seeing your photo trip report on Cedar Point got me excited: I'll be taking a friend with me to Cedar Point for a two-day visit in July. One of the photos that showed the estimated wait time for Gemini was 2 hours caused me to laugh. Of all the visits to Cedar Point I have never seen the queing lines ever get full ( same thing to the Corkscrew and the Iron Dragon). Methinks who ever set the time thought it read "2 Minutes" instead of "2 Hours". Of course, the lowest setting is set at "1/4 hour". "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  5. Great Trip Report! My friend and I cannot wait to visit Kennywood until mid July. On the Behind the Scenes tour of the Racer, that must have been awesome. To be in a place that would be off-limits to visitors during the time the park is open would be exciting. I have rode many coasters, but I have never gotten a tour behind the scenes and take a walk along the track. One of these days . . . As for the Black Widow, I couldn't believe how big it was. My friend wants to ride a ride like that, but after seeing the size and scope of the Black Widow, methinks he might recant his decision. As for me, "BRING IT ON!!!" "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride"
  6. That will be great if they took it; a dark ride would do wonders for Fun Spot. Unfortunately, the ride wouldn't be themed after the Moody Blues due to licensing cost. What I do like to see them do is make it a magical ride with illusions that would blow your mind and senses. Something that will make Walt Disney World say - "Why didn't we think of that?" One can always dream. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  7. I once rode on a Zipper with a partner, and that ride was both terrifying and thrilling at the same time. At other times, I couldn't ride the Zipper as a single rider ( Methinks they don't want you to be sliding around as the car flips you every which way but loose). As for the Thunderbolt in Kennywood, I can understand why you need a partner to ride with, but years ago when they had the turnpike, I was turned away due to their "NO SINGLE RIDER" policy. I couldn't understand why that particular ride needed two people per car ( Why: were they afraid I was going to fall out?). Well, I did get a ride on the turnpike when I brought my friend to the park. Besides Thunderbolt, I also think the Log Jammer as had a "NO SINGLE RIDER" policy and would have those singles team up to ride those logs. Yes, I do remember the Morey's Pier incident in which a single rider on the giant wheel tried to commit suicide by jumping off, and the park figured that having two or more people in the same car would prevent such a incident. But what if you have two riders that decided to both jump from the giant wheel ( advacate here)? Highly unlikely; if those two wanted to kill themselves, then they should ride the Zipper! But methinks that single riders are happy that there are many rides they can go on without attracting attention; such as, Swings, Merry-go-Rounds, Frisbees, Drop Towers, Disc-O, Tea Cups, Flying Scooter, The Whip, Bumper Cars, Pirate Ships, Dark Rides, etc. I do know that when I'll be heading to an amusement park with my riding partner, then I'll have no trouble getting any ride regardless what their ride policy is. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  8. ^As for me, I'm hoping it's an I-beam coaster that has a wicked layout. "Iron Beast, Iron Beast, Iron Beast . . ." Whatever it is, I want three things from it: To be something that will force me to renew my Cedar Fair Platinum Pass , to be something new for me to experience, and for number three . . . I want something that I'll take one look at and . . . wet my pants. Thank goodness I wear my swimming trucks as shorts whenever I visit an amusement park. I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  9. Holy Moly!!! That train was surely going fast!!! WHITE LIGHTNING will be the biggest draw for Fun Spot Action Park growth and addtions. Mewonders what they might do for next season. It's too soon, so just enjoy right now. To the other parks in Florida: whatcha gonna do when the WHITE LIGHTNING strikes you?
  10. On my ususal habit of looking up old post and bringing them back to new life I decided to do it to one of my old threads. I went to a lawn party last week and rode almost all the rides they had ( they only had six rides I could go on), some even twice, but they had three rides which enforced the "NO SINGLE RIDER" rule: The scrambler, the Paratrooper, and The Ferris wheel. The other three rides, The Dragon Wagon ( A kiddie coaster), The Swings, and The Merry-go-round, allowed me to ride by myself. I was able to find a partner to ride the Scrambler and the Paratrooper, but no one for the Ferris Wheel. It go me thinking about today's rides at lawn parties: they have been a lot of them enforcing their "NO SINGLE RIDERS" policies more recently, yet if I found the same ride at an amusement park I'll be allow to ride in a car by myself. I find this interesting, lawn party rides are more likely to enforce their "NO SINGLE RIDER" policies compare to an amusement park ( at Kings Dominion, the only ride you cannot ride by yourself is the Americana - their Giant Wheel ). Is it a wonder why I rather go to an amusement park than a lawn party? "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  11. Oh well, I'm sure that will buy a lot of hot dogs and s'mores for that extreme campfire that won't happen. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!"
  12. ^ "The final scene in Noah's Ark is still out of commission?" "Feeling sad and blue? Then lay your head upon me and I'll make you feel better!" "Hey pillow, do me and some people who visit this site a favor and SHUT THE (your favorite swear word inserted here) UP before I have a heart attack and kill somebody!!! And after that, I don't think we'll see poor old pillow anymore. But you will see this: "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  13. My advice when helping a friend conquer their fears when riding rides is to start small and work your way up. Too scared to ride an major roller coaster? Then ride a junior roller coaster. Too frighten to ride a ride that goes way up high? Then ride one that isn't that high. Afraid they might throw up on a fast, spinning ride? Then have them ride a slower spinning ride like the carousel. One thing you do not want to do is to force someone on a ride if they don't want to. I have this arrangement with my riding buddy whenever we go to an amusement park together. There are some rides he won't get on ( mainly spinning flat rides ), so he'll let me ride by myself as he takes a smoking break. Just as you have the right to ride a ride providing that you meet the requirements, you also have to right NOT to ride if you don't want to. Hey, if your friend just wants to ride only the carousel, bumper cars, log flume, and antique cars and nothing else; then be supportive of your friend's choices, then maybe the day will come when your friend might want to try out that intimidating ride! "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride"
  14. Such a shame that "The Saints won't be marching in" to help restore this defuct park back to it's former glory. But if the film studios could use this area for TV and movies, then I'm sure this area would be a wonder candidate (plus help New Orleans get some needed $$$ ). I wonder what kind of TV show could be made that has its settings inside an abandoned amusment park? Hey, don't laugh people; this kind of thing could be done ( just like what 20 Century Fox did when after filming the movie M*A*S*H was completed and they had these outdoor sets just sitting, so they decided to create the TV series called "M*A*S*H" and the rest is TV history). And of course, whenever a movie calls for a scene to be filmed in an amusement park ( just like the next Percy Jackson movie), then that would do just fine. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  15. ^ Oh boy, I have a funny feeling that someone would try to peel that sticker off only to be blackballed by Kings Island. I think there are words underneath that sticker that reads: "Congradulations, you just got yourself expelled from Kings Island! Please don't let the screen door hit you on the way out!" Since I have no plans of visiting Kings Island this season ( but I do have plans for Cedar Point) the only thing I can do is keep up-to-date with the comings and goings inside the park. The fact that Kings Island is putting somthing IN THERE should be exciting enough. Now we the riders and amusement park flyers will have to suffer the coming weeks and months until we know WHAT THEY ARE PUTTING IN THERE! I hope it'll be something that will cause me to renew my Cedar Fair Platinum Pass for new year, because I probably end up renewing that pass again in 2015 when Kings Dominion put in there own special attraction. 35 YEARS OF GOING TO kINGS dOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!
  16. ^I went one year during Memorial Weekend and the park got so crowded that the extra queing lines for the Phantom's Revenge was actually filled up ( and they were running two trains as well!!!)! And because they opened up the extra parking spots located on top of the hill, I took this opportunity to take a ride on the sky lift (even though I was parked near the front) after I lefted the park during the evening time. Well, after I got to the top, they wouldn't let me ride back down due to some ruling about this sky lift is old and can only handle one side at a time and all that other stuff. So I ended up walking down the hill to get to my vehicle. But that was my only visit to the park in which Kennywood was so crowded, and I've been to the park at least ten times besides that visit and the park had a normal crowd during those other visits. Methinks the best times to visit Kennywood would be during a week day, when the sky looks gloomy, and when it isn't a holiday. When the crowds are light, you'll be able to do more and have an enjoyable day. As for me and my friend, we're going there on the first day of our vacation in July, and we'll see if my friend can survive the attack of THE BLACK WIDOW!!!
  17. If the GATEKEEPER is going that fast, then all I can say is to make sure all your lost articles are kept in a zipped-up pocket lest you to want to make a contribution to the groundkeeper's fund. I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  18. Did that last photo showed the coaster cars for WHITE LIGHTING??? I'm thankful they had it covered; methinks I would have wet my pants if they didn't. As for the Paratrooper and Scrambler being moved into their new locations - Did the park actually moved them in one piece? Without dismantling them like other parks would have done? Would this be featured on the History channel called "Mega Movers"? ( Not!) Those new areas do need some landscaping down because I don't think any rider and amusement park flyer would want to enter a ride with mud on the ground. This is getting better and better. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  19. I'm very happy that I came up with an item of discussion that has generated a ton of feedback. As I keep this topic going, I must add three rides, located at Six Flags America, that I feel has queuing lines that are unnecessary. ROAR - While the zig-zag, uphill, straight away leading to the station is always used, the queing station to the left has never been filled with riders waiting to ride Roar. However, that station does get used during Fright Fest for their Haunted House attraction. Penguin's Blizzard River - They have these long blocks that are never filled, plus they are dirty! Joker's Jinx - If they thought the huge station of switchbacks in front of the station's entrance was needed, then the joke's on them. On a side note, the defunct ride Two-Face had so many switchbacks that I don't think that at least 75% of those lines were ever used. I believe that is the problem with an attraction: On its opening season, the newfangled attraction will attract a ton of riders and fill up the queing line, but over the years the lines tend to dwindle down, leaving those extra lines that once were filled to be left out into the sun and decay. This fact is true to Superman - Ride of Steel and to Batwing; I've seen their lines get filled to near capacity during their opening season. So why not do away with these unnecessary lines like Carowinds did to their lines for the Hurler coaster? Does anyone have any thoughts to this question? I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!
  20. smallpox stated - The next sound you'll hear are tons of riders and amusement park flyers rejoicing. "WA-HOO!!!" "35 YEARS OF GOING TO kINGS dOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!"
  21. ^ "Oh let the speculation commence. . ." Whatever they are planning, I hope it's good enough for me to say "Yes. I shall renew my Cedar Fair Platinum Pass just as an excuse to go back to Kings Island!" Personally, I'm hoping for Iron Beast because it'll be the closest I-Beam coaster to where I live ( unless Kings Dominion gets there own I-Beam coaster -perhaps an Iron Hurler or Iron Grizzly), but I would still be satisfied with a record-breaking and ground-breaking coaster that hasn't been seen, heard, or even imagined before. "35 YEARS OF GOING TO kINGS dOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!"
  22. Looking at this Photo TR, I get the impression of a kid's giant playground with various carnival rides thrown in for good measure (I guess it's for the kid's parents to play on ). I bet all kids would have a field day inside this park. 'Tis a pity that we don't have a park like this in the US ( and if we did, it'll be small) . "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  23. Wow oh wow oh wow . . . It seems everytime I see a photo update on the constructions and going-ons inside Fun Spot Action Park it just makes me want to see more photos. That place is starting to look awesome!!! Disney World and Universal better sit up and take notice; there is another player in Orlando that has the means to take a few more of your visitors away from your parks and place them into their own park. So whatcha gonna do when Fun Spot Action Park unleash the WHITE LIGHTING upon you? "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  24. ^^ That goes ditto for me as well; I get grayouts everytime we go down that first hill and head into the first tight turn, but it isn't painful and I don't need to do anything else except go along with the ride. And by the time we reach the top of the first hill I'm back to normal. Intimidator 305 isn't the only ride I've gotten a grayout on, I also got grayout while riding Goliath at Six Flags over Georgia and Bizzaro at Six Flags New England. I guess getting a grayout every now and then isn't so bad as long as you're still consious, still awake, and still breathing by the time you come back to the station, but I still don't want to get too many of those. Of course, there is always PLANET SNOOPY to fall back on whenever I need a break from riding those big, bad rides. 35 YEARS OF GOING TO kINGS dOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!
