  2. From what I'm reading on Twitter, the log ride hasn't opened yet today, and is experiencing delays.
  3. More consistent, sure, but metal detectors wouldn't have stopped the dry ice incident. It's a tough call.
  4. This is an excellent tip. I wouldn't have thought of doing that.
  5. If Holiday World decides to install a steel coaster, I hope that it is built in the Christmas section and themed after the Krampus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus
  6. ^I've never used a Platinum Flash Pass but 10% of 2 hours is 12 minutes.
  7. Millenium Force Raven if I had to pick a woodie. One of the few woodies I can re-ride, even in the backseat.
  8. This is common to pretty much all enthusiast communities (coasters, video games, music, film, etc). The most passionate fans are often the most critical.
  9. "Least Favorite" doesn't mean "bad"!!! Especially in the company of two other great coasters!
  10. I visited Holiday World for the first time last Friday and was really impressed. I loved the independent, family-run atmosphere. It reminded me of Knott's Berry Farm before it lost its charm. Of course, with my luck I decide to visit on school day. Luckily the lines weren't long, although I had to share them with tons of teenagers I didn't have much time at the park, so I didn't check out Splashin Safari. I would love to come back someday, because it really looked like fun (and I don't even like water parks that much). Overall, I would rank the coasters like this... 1. Raven - Great! Short and sweet. The back seat is incredible. 2. Voyage - Great! I got on expecting it to beat the crap out of me, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. I loved the nonstop speed and intensity. 3. Legend - Good ride, but not as fun as the other two. Great first drop. The ride made me a little dizzy. Oh, and the fried Oreos were amazing.
  11. I had my first visit to Cedar Point on Monday and had a great time! I was really worried about the weather, but it was hot and sunny all day. The crowds were pretty heavy for a Monday in early May, so we paid up and bought Fast Lane Pluses (we didn't fly here to stand in 1hr+ lines in the sun). Best decision ever. We got to ride every coaster in the park (besides the kiddie/junior) and several non-coasters and it was glorious. I took lots of pictures, but nothing that hasn't been posted here many times before. I'm leaving a ride-by-ride TR instead. Gatekeeper x3 - Loved it. The large sweeping motions and overall smoothness made for a fun ride. Millenium Force x3 - Loved it. I greyed out a little during the first overbank turn (is this normal?). Maverick - Loved it. It was down most of the day and I was getting slightly depressed at the thought of not riding it. However, it opened within an hour of closing! Great ride, but I did smack my neck into the OTSRs twice. Top Thrill Dragster - Loved it. I still prefer Xcelerator though since it isn't over after one tophat. Gemini - Loved it. This was the surprise of the trip. We didn't expect much, but we really liked Gemini. It didn't race though! Do they normally race still? Raptor - Good. Wicked Twister - Good. Magnum-XL 200 - Good. Nice airtime, but a bit too rough. Iron Dragon - Good. Cedar Creek Mine Ride - Good. Fun little ride. Blue Streak - Bad. We sat in the back seat and really got thrown around. Corkscrew - Bad. As expected, it was rough and not really that fun. Mantis - Awful. I hated Mantis. It beat me up and I couldn't wait to get off. Mean Streak - Awful. No surprises here.
  12. I rode Gatekeeper (my first wingrider) the other day and loved it. It's not the most intense coaster, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment at all. I love the large sweeping elements and the overall smoothness of the ride. It gives a good sensation of soaring over the park.
  13. This looks incredible! Can't wait for Iron Colossus...
  14. As a native southern Californian and taco enthusiast, I fully endorse this thread!
  15. The ride home from work in rush hour is better than a Vekoma boomerang!
  16. I've never been there before, but from what I've seen of the park, a huge 4D coaster seems like an odd choice.
  17. Knott's should adopt the YOLO lifestyle and run Boomerang or Montezooma backwards!
  18. So far this year: - Disneyland - Disney California Adventure - Knott's Berry Farm - Belmont Park Coming Up: - Cedar Point (first time!) - Holiday World (first time!)
  19. Thanks for your expert opinion, but I'm sure there are plenty of valid reasons for the Timberliner delays.
  20. This is ridiculous for obvious reasons. "strong news"
  21. Yes! It also has great footage of Magic Mountain. The finale involves a newly opened Revolution. Good stuff. CoasterRadio did a hilarious audio commentary podcast for this movie. I highly recommend watching it a second time with the commentary if you are a fan of the show.
