  1. You shut your dirty mouth! Waterworld is awesome! Seriously, the show is a lot of fun for being so cheesy. After the restructuring last year it flows much better and the explosions are awesome. Haha! I remember the show being a lot of fun and I was disappointed to see it was closed. Still, it's an odd movie for a modern theme park attraction, especially since Universal updates their rides with new movies so frequently.
  2. I visited the park today - My first visit since 2003. So much has changed! Basically everything was new to me except the Studio Tour and Jurassic Park. It was a lot of fun and a good day to visit. Even with all the construction going on, the crowds were manageable. Studio Tour: Still the best ride in the park. You really can't experience this anywhere else. Kong 360 was really cool! Jurassic Park: A fun ride, although I remember it seeming like the greatest ride ever when it opened, based on the hype & advertising. Transformers: I really liked this ride. I couldn't care less about the franchise, but the tech is so cool! While in line, it broke down and delayed us for maybe 5 minutes so we got a free front-of-the-line pass for another ride! Revenge of the Mummy: Good not great. I understand the Florida version is better? The theming during the coaster portion looked like cheap carnival theming compared to the dark ride portion. Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem: Very fun. I didn't realize this was so popular (I haven't seen the movies). I really liked the characters though and my fiance loved it. Simpsons: I loved the queue and pre-show. This was by far the longest line of the day (30 minutes) but it flew by because of the episode clips. I loved the meta humor making fun of theme parks. They really went all out! Animal Actors (show): Fun, cute little show. Made me realize how poorly trained my dogs are Special Effects Stage (show): Awful awful awful! The benches are so small and cramped. The theater was over-packed, forcing everyone to scoot over until we were touching people on all sides. My legs were right up against the person in front of me. Plus, the show itself was lame and full of cringeworthy jokes (Charlie Sheen jokes? Really?) I was hoping to learn more about special effects, but what they showed wasn't even that interesting. This show should go. Shrek 4D: Skipped it because we were ready to leave (and didn't really care anyway). Waterworld: Closed for Refurb. I'm surprised this still exists. Most guests probably don't even remember this movie. Also, have they said what's happening to the House of Horrors space? It's walled off but I have no clue what's replacing it.
  3. This news will make a lot of you happy. I love seeing silly law suits fail. Link to Article
  4. Oh it's definitey a ride. I'm just guessing that most people will think it's a completely "new" ride.
  5. Do they usually advertise these as "rides" without clarifying that it's a studio tour add on? I can't remember how King Kong 360 was advertised.
  6. Personally, I enjoy the MiceChat rumor mill. It's entertaining to read their wild speculation and funny to see them worry at the thought of slight changes. I don't take theme park rumors seriously. Luckily for you they are pretty easy to ignore.
  7. Hey guys, I'm planning on visiting USH this Sunday. I haven't been there since before the Mummy opened. Even though I don't anticipate crowds (I love going to theme parks on Super Bowl Sunday), I'm looking for tips on ride order. Is the "lower lot first" still good advice? My first thought was to do Minion Mayhem and Studio Tour first, but I'm by no means an expert! Thanks for any help!
  8. While I still love it, Disneyland is becoming a chore to visit due to the insane crowds. Even weekdays are crowded. Knott's Berry Farm on the other hand has seen lots of improvements in recent years. It's a much nicer park than it was 10 years ago, IMO.
  9. No, not that I know of. Not much thought went into my comment
  10. Im not sure what the problem is here? I was implying that I'd like to buy Trio-tech stock since I see them becoming a big deal very soon!
  11. ^ I love seeing companies like this do well! Soon we may see Trio-tech rides all over the place. Too bad they're a privately held company
  12. - Avoid Hollywood - It's nasty. I imagine most tourists are disappointed when they visit. - Both San Diego Zoos are fantastic and worth every penny. - Eat lots of tacos/burritos.
  13. I for one welcome our new Frozen overlords
  14. Honestly, I'm glad there is no outdoor coaster section. Knott's has enough family coasters already. I'd much rather see them focus on the cool dark ride tech! I'm going on Saturday for a company event thing - I'll snap some pics if I find anything Iron Reef related.
  15. This looks wonderful. Kingdom of the Dinosaurs was my favorite ride at Knott's growing up. I'm so happy to see what looks like a worthy successor take it's place after all these years. Did people honestly expect them to bring back Beary-Tales or KOD? Also, the octopus art makes me nostalgic for Hammerhead. Am I the only one?
  16. 1986 - An awful year for coasters! 1. Laser (Dorney Park) 2. Grizzly (California's Great America) 3. Shockwave (King's Dominion / Six Flags Magic Mountain - pick your poison)
  17. I visited Fiesta for the first time last weekend and enjoyed it! It's very unique, especially for Six Flags. I love the rock quarry - many of the rides interact with it so well. Unfortunately, there were constant reminders that I was at a Six Flags park: $20 parking. Crappy expensive microwaved food. Giant ads plastered all over the rides. Loud obnoxious music. Teenagers dribbling basketballs everywhere. Still, I thought the park had a great setting, decent theming and a good mix of rides. Here are some of my thoughts... Iron Rattler: This was my first Rocky Mountain coaster and it surpassed my sky-high expectations. It instantly jumped to the top of my list. I now cannot wait for California to get one. Roadrunner Express: I was pleasantly surprised with this ride! It was a lot more fun than I expected. Don't skip it! Superman: Amazing use of the rock quarry. Otherwise, nothing too crazy. Goliath: I knew exactly what to expect, but I really liked it. Poltergeist: This wasn't as rough as I expected. I quite enjoyed it. Boomerang: I skipped this because I hate Boomerangs and don't really care about credits. Plus it had the longest line in the park for whatever reason. Pandemonium: Closed all day. I assume I didn't miss much. Batman: They had a booth set up with some drawings and a video of the upcoming Batman ride. There was a constant crowd gathered to watch it. Let me tell you, the locals are excited for this ride and I think it will be a huge hit with them! Say what you will about it, but I think it's a good choice.
  18. Cool Trip Report! I never thought I would see a West Covina TR. I went to high school there. Personally, I think Knott's Chicken Dinner has gone downhill. Last time I went the chicken was soggy and bland. It's lost the home-cooked appeal.
  19. Can't wait for them to announce their 2015 Cedar Fair acquisition deal!
  20. I generally hate Vine, but they work really well in TR's here. Good job.
  21. Can you kill someone by dropping a penny off the top of a tall coaster or drop tower?
  22. This whole thread repeats itself about every 10 pages or so!
  23. Edit: Swapped with smaller, less annoying image.
  24. This makes me really sad. I'm pretty sure this is the first roller coaster I've ever been on.
