  1. I am a "girl" and I love coasters/rides/amusement parks. Always have. I am raising my little girl to be the same. However, I am finding that with each year (I am almost 39...yikes!!) I can't ride as much or as many rides in a row as I used to. I start to feel like I am going to hurl or suffer brain trama Shari "But I'll keep riding until I can't" Shoufler
  2. This reminded me a little of a friend's wedding...there were disposable cameras on the table and my husband made some figures out of coffee stirrers and cherry tomatoes, and then we photographed them doing things....... Shari "I still prefer more traditional weddings" Shoufler
  3. Elissa should appreciate that all I could think of while looking at these was "It looks like they are on The Amazing Race". LOL I need a life. Have a great time...will look forward to the updates. Shari
  4. Hey!!! Those are MY Flying Dutchmen. Ok, not MINE, but I think those HAVE to be the ones Kings Island back in the days when KI would have been an acceptable park to Elissa! Now I might have to make the trip down there for those!! Shari "I loved that ride" Shoufler
  5. Somebody email me and tell me how you do this.... I am not as computer savvy as you all..... Shari "I was lucky to figure out how to put the castle there" Shoufler
  6. Elissa, you would fit right in with Herb and Samantha. They don't eat anything, either. Samantha's very big on plain pasta, chicken nuggets and is currently sustaining herself on Campbell's "Goldfish" soup. Herb is the worst eater ever... too much fat, salt and sugar...which would explain his shape (although he is quick to point out that round is a shape). Unfortunately, living with that, my eating habits stink too. I see you with lots of McDonalds and plain pasta...what else do you eat, because you are so thin???? Shari "last time I looked like Elissa I was 13" Shoufler
  7. I just read this on CNN...how awful. I am confident that this was in no way the fault of the park...clearly this was a child with some sort of health issue, but unfortunately, either A) His family was unaware of such a problem or B) they were aware but ignored the warnings. I have a heart condition, and even though I love coasters and rides, I have commented several times in recent years that some of the new thrill attractions (like TTD) are just too intense for me to take that chance. The "thrill" of thrill rides is that they are supposed to be a safe thrill, and when it becomes unsafe, it's not worth taking. Unfortunately, it is in the hands of the riders to take that chance, and it always makes me mad when a park is blamed when something like this happens. Shari
  8. I like to play the game with the colored muffin tins, or glasses, where you throw wiffle balls. I won this big-ass Scooby one day when it was just my daughter and I at the park. I had to carry it all the way to the car, while trying to push her stroller and keep track of her. It was too big to fit in the stroller, and I couldn't push the stroller if she was in it, so it was hillarious. We had to just leave and go home because it was too much to deal with. However, the look of "Oh my God my mom is awesome" on her face was worth it! Shari
  9. Hi... I just skimmed through everyone else's advice, so I apologize in advance if I repeat anything previously said..... I think you will do just fine going on weekdays, that is what we have done in the past. I highly recommend the Breakers Express. It gets you the perks of staying with Cedar Point, at at cheaper price than you will pay for their other properties. I believe we got early entry both days of our last visit, which was helpful in tackling coaster lines. I love Millenium Force!! I was terrified the first time I rode, but think it's about the best coaster you could ride. Fast, smooth and that first drop! Wow! I also really loved... oh, God, I can't think of what it's called.... the other big one, but not TTD. Anyway, the one on the opposite side of the park. Now, as for TTD, we haven't been there since it was built, but I will not ride it when we do get back. Not that I am scared of the ride, just that I have health reasons that I just think that ride might not be a good idea for me. But, if it weren't for that, I would do it!! It really is a nice park, and what I love most about it is that they have added all these truly impressive coasters without sacrificing a great selection of "flat rides" and traditional, old fashioned rides like their turnpikes and such. There is not a lot to do in Sandusky, but if you head over to Cleveland there is Geauga Lake (also owned by Cedar Fair) and other attractions like the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Also, from Sandusky you can take the ferry or Island Rocket boats to some of the Lake Erie Islands, which are supposed to be nice. Hope all this helps. Shari "My favorite non coaster ride at CP is the Cedar Downs carousel" Shoufler
  10. Since I know how many of you just LOVE Six Flags (cough, cough), I thought I would pass along that Wendy's is currently serving Six Flags kids meals. Sam got a pair of lovely, bright orange plastic sunglasses in her meal today. They say "Six Flags" on the side. There is also a coupon on the side of the bag for a free child's admission with purchase of an adult admission. Shari "Almost makes me want to make a trip to SFKK. Almost." Shoufler
  11. I can't believe there aren't more comments about the pickle picture! Shari "Dollywood does have some great photo-ops" Shoufler
  12. My best advice...call the parks themselves. When I worked the info center at PKI, close to 25% of my total calls, or more, on any given day were to ask about discounts. We always kept a current list of promotions, coupons, etc and could usually advise you of the best deal, dependent upon the size of your group, if you want to go into the park the night before, etc. I know last year, you could get a pretty decent price for PKI online and just print your ticket voucher right off the computer. I would think the other Paramount Parks do the same. Shari "Have a great trip" Shoufler
  13. Depends on which parking lot... the "main" parking lot is quite a way from Dragster, IMO. When we were up there about 3 years ago, one hell of a storm came through just as we were leaving the TGIFridays at the Breakers. By them time we got back to Breakers Express where we were staying, it was quite a light show. With all that water, etc, it is wicked place during a storm. Shari
  14. There are no words for this picture...it's definitely one of the best from the Alvey wedding! Shari
  15. Well, I am not emailing Dan, but I do have to say that my first thought when I saw the picture of the three guys was to caption it: "Even Hollywood Stars Jack Black, Adrien Brody and Michael Chikilis attended the party" Shari "looks like it was a blast" Shoufler
  16. I soooo hope they work things out! I know that each could do good movies without the other, and probably Pixar would do better, but I would still like to see their partnership continue. Shari
  17. Have a safe and fun trip! I am looking forward to all your pictures and commentary, as always! Shari "Who's babysitting RatTums?" Shoufler
  18. OOPS! Sorry, Elissa. I didn't notice the hairy part, I just noticed the skinny part, and went with the general assumption it was you. Shari "I'll look closer next time" Shoufler
  19. After making an embarassing remark, Robb, unable to put his own foot in his mouth, puts Elissa's in instead. Shari "This photo kind of disturbs me" Shoufler
  20. I just read that when I was getting on the internet...she was only 73...what a great actress! Shari
  21. A PARK WITH A WHIP!!!! OMG!!! I didn't think ANYONE had one anymore. I want to go just for that!! Shari "That's one of my favorite rides, ever!" Shoufler
  22. Eccentric, immature, maybe even insane, yes. Child molester, no. Shari "But I wouldn't leave him alone with my daughter" Shoufler
  23. It's because of all this hype and controversy that PKI now closes the park for a corporate private party on the first Sunday of June. Trust me, as a former park employee, I can assure that the parks find this as a "damned if you do; damned if you don't" issue. Shari "Why can't we all just get along?" Shoufler
  24. Years ago, there was a nightclub here in Cincy that had a bar, complete with a very hot, shirtless bartender, in it's ladies room. It was the best!! Disney has the cleanest bathrooms as far as the parks I have been too. Every park has there "good" bathrooms and ones you hate to go into. Shari "I like really clean ones!" Shoufler
  25. Looks like a lot of fun..... can't wait to see more pics! Shari "I miss the Mouse" Shoufler
