You are bad!!! You know, though... I agree with the poster who commented about the dehydration and the heat. I can remember when Herb and the girls and I were down there in June of '01. It was like 90 degrees at 9:30 in the morning and by noon the teenagers were begging to go back to the pool. We don't hear reports on all the people who have health issues arise while they are walking around a theme park, or in the parking lot, or a restaurant. It only makes front page news when it happens on a ride, which is really ridiculous, because, once again, I seriously doubt that the ride is "unsafe". I have personally ridden ToT half a dozen times, and as I have posted before, I have a mitral valve problem. IF I had a heart attack on the ride, it would not be the ride's fault. I chose to ride knowing I had a condition that the experts would advise me against riding because of. Shari "I just hope she's ok" Shoufler

But think of all the free publicity you'd get for TPR. Plus, if you had that "eat 4 pounds of meat" challenge, you'd be leading the pack with Robb! Shari

Pick Your Top 3 "Fanatic" Avatars!
disneygurlz2s replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
#1 elissafanatic ... because if my husband did that to me, I would have to kill him or at least make sure an equally embarrasing photo appeared of him #2 patchfanatic.... see #1 #3 flyerfanatic..... because he appropriately used his avatar to once again rub in my face the fact that he got my beloved childhood ride. Shari "They were all awesome!!" Shoufler -
With HUGE thanks to Crispy for his incredible patience (and eventually giving up on me and saying..here, let me just do it for you...) I finally have my avatar!! It could have been slightly more creative, however it was 11 o'clock at night and I didn't have time to do anything that wasn't currently on our new computer because I figured I had already dominated too much of poor Crispy's time! So, from PKI's Boomerang Bay, I bring you my surfer girl......

Gregg...that is freaking hillarious!!! I love it. Shari "But, let's face it, that's Hollywood" Shoufler

PKI Ride Removal?
disneygurlz2s replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hadn't read through this thread for a while, but since getting caught up on it today, I have to say that I would suspect that TOP GUN could be the one going, mainly because of the construction for the GREAT WOLF LODGE. No one has really said how far over onto PKI property they will need to go for this project, but since TG literally butted up against the former campground, I would have to think it's a possibility. After the last two weekends at the park (fights, guns, security issues) I am thinking that any new attraction ought to be bulletproof! Welcome home, guys.... I have really enjoyed seeing the other side of the world-or at least the fun part (screw the cathedrals and castles-unless, of course, they are Disney Princess castles). Shari -

After seeing the "Survival Course" pictures, I am convinced you guys need to apply for the next "Amazing Race"...Elissa looked like she knew what she was doing!! Also, why is Elissa always making those "I am going to attack you with my angry claws" faces in the group shots??? That "bike" ride looks like fun. I've seen a lot of rides that I wish we had over here in US. Shari -
Welcome to my world!!! CVG (Greater Cincy airport is actually in northern Kentucky, don't ask) and is one of Delta's major hubs, like Hartsfield in Atlanta. You always pay more to fly out of there. Most of us (Cincy residents) will fly out of either Dayton, Louisville or Indy just to save a couple hundred bucks. It's pretty crazy to have a layover in your own airport, but that's what most people I know do! For us, Dayton is no big deal, because where we live we are pretty much an equal distance between the two airports. Our last trip to Florida in 2001 we flew out of Dayton and I was really impressed that such a small airport handles so many major carriers. Shari "Dayton is the birthplace of aviation!!" Shoufler

Let me throw another thought out.... Have you looked into the possibility of flying into Dayton, Ohio??? You could hit PKI on Friday and then head north to GL and CP for the weekend. Monday, you could head straight down I-75 from Cedar Point back to the Dayton airport. It might be a little further drive than from Detroit, but would allow you to pick up an extra park and the Dayton airport is a breeze to get in and out of. Shari "PLUS... I would get to meet you guys" Shoufler

I honestly can't think of a single park that would be reasonably close...maybe there's a Michigan reader who knows of one....... One other thing, schools do start here in Ohio around this time, so I am not sure if that would effect the operating hours of any of the parks or not. Just make sure to check park hours before you make any definite plans. Shari

First of all, Gregg and Kristi..... I am SO SORRY to hear about your WDW What happened (if you don't mind my asking)??? So, on to your questions..... I have never been to CP on a weekend, other than to arrive at the hotel on a Sunday and just go to dinner at the TGIF's at the Breakers. We have stayed at the Breakers Express and I HIGHLY recommend it. They have a nice pool and you do get early entry. It was our experience that not every "major" coaster is offered as part of the early entry, but it did allow us to get on a couple without much wait. Also, because I know you have the little ones, I will also share that CP has what I consider to be the BEST and EASIEST "child swap" policy. When you enter the park you get a sheet of paper from Guest Relations that has every one of the "big rides" listed on it, with two spaces next to each. Now, let's say you want to ride Millenium Force and there's a 30 minute wait. You take the sheet of paper and get in the queue. And Kristi and the kids can go ride the train or walk around the frontier village or do some other attraction in the general area of MF. Then, they can come back and wait at the exit of MF for you to come off the ride. When you boarded you gave the sheet of paper (you will have written your name on it) to the ride op. When you exit the ride, Kristi goes up the ramp and gives the ride op your name. They pull it off their clipboard, or out of their pocket or whatever, initial it next to where it says MF, and then give it back to Kristi. Usually they board the waiting rider within 1-2 trains. It was a huge help to us when we went. Herb and I got to ride everything we wanted to and Sammi never had to stand and wait a long time while we did it. As far as other parks/things to do, CP has their waterpark area, Soak City, and there may be a waterpark in the Cleveland area besides the one that is park of Geauga Lake, but I am not sure. There's Wyandot Lake, which is owned by Six Flags, but that is down in Columbus, which would be 2-2 1/2 hours south of Cleveland. We really love CP.... there's a lot for families.... I haven't been to Geauga Lake for 20 years, but when Sea World used to be across the Lake from them, we would take Herb's older girls there (SW) almost every year. We stayed in various locations...over off of I-71 (not far from Hopkins airport) as well as over in the Twinsburg area. Feel free to ask any other questions.... If I didn't have Jimmy Buffett tickets that Sunday night I would come up and meet you!!! Shari

Spring 2006: my trip to SFGA, Cedar Point and Geauga Lake...
disneygurlz2s replied to EricLovesTZTOT's topic in Ask Alvey
Hi Eric, I'll be happy to give you some advice..... First of all, be advised that these parks do NOT operate on weekdays until around Memorial Day weekend, which is the last full weekend of May. PKI is weekends only beginning about the second weekend of April. CP and GL probably don't begin weekends that early, because they are 300 miles north and up near the lake where it can stay too cold for coasters into May. There are always good pre-season discounts, but most are tied to local stores/fast food restaurants/etc, so you may have to wait until you get over here and then check with the individual parks. Of course, Cedar Point and Geauga Lake are both Cedar Fair parks, so there may be some combination discounts for the two parks. Let me know if you have any other questions... Shari -

OK... first off, I have to tell you that I just spent something like an hour and a half reading and looking at all this because our computer died a week ago and I hadn't been on a computer for days (it nearly killed me) because I was taking some PTO days from work and so I no computer access whatsoever. Fortunately, despite the fact we can barely keep a roof over our heads, my hubby went and bought us this awesome new computer yesterday and now I can read the trip reports and FINALLY!!! watch the videos too (at least until they turn our electric or internet off for non-payment ) That said, it looks like the Alveys and gang are having a blast and I love the pictures. Tom-you're videos are great!! As for the "Speedo" sign back on about page 1 or 2.... I work with a British lady and we were just talking about this the other day. Over in many Europeon countries you HAVE to wear a "speedo" type suit...swim trunks are not acceptable at public pools, water parks, etc. God help us if that becomes necessary on your trip.... Continue to have a safe and fun journey.... I'm looking forward to more great pictures (although I could have done without the one of Robb and the sausage...that will haunt me all day. Poor Elissa!)
