  1. A few weeks ago, a 16 year old girl from England came off of ToT at WDW feeling lightheaded and weak. Her mother sat her down at the ride exit and cast members began assisting and she started to go downhill real fast. 911 was called and she was rushed to Celebration Hospital. Enroute she went into cardiac arrest and I think she ended up having to have brain surgery (someone correct me if I am wrong on the last part). This happened almost a month to the day of the 4 yo boy dying after riding Mission-Space. Disney is not having a good summer....... Shari "Which is unfortunate, because of how they run their parks" Shoufler
  2. ^^^GRRRRR.... Shari "Damn you Paramount for taking my flyers away!!!" Shoufler
  3. OK... let me get this straight..... you have a problem with rats, so you have rat poison out, and yet you have pet rats??? Just making sure I understood that... :? Shari "something about that doesn't make sense to me, but that's okay" S.
  4. AWWW.... how cute! Way to start the kid off right! Shari
  5. All I can say is "jeez, not again". Disney's definitely having a rough summer. Shari
  6. ^Yeah, that one's a keeper! My method is actually- scan, email to self, resize, save and post.... but it gets the job done and it'll do until I can get a digital camera!!! Off to Holiday World at 6 am tomorrow!!! Shari "sorry to bore you all with my pictures, but I really would love to see yours if you have em, especially those of you in my age group!" Shoufler
  7. Now, here's me... in my early, not quite up to the "big rides" yet, days... Shari This is me and my mom (aka "Big Max") on our first visit to KI in 1972 (I look that way because the sun was in my eyes-really!) This was at a now defunct park called "Fantasy Farm" that my family went to every summer (that's my dad!) This was my favorite ride at the Old Coney Island Park here in Cincinnati.
  8. That sign was awesome!!! And Robb thought the sign at the airport was impressive! Shari
  9. As always, you have provided me with my laugh of the day.... Shari "completely in awe as I am so computer-skills challenged" Shoufler
  10. OK...so, I am trying to figure out this whole "scan, change to jpg, resize, post to TPR" thing before I go to Holiday World tomorrow, and I decided to use one of my favorite photos, which just happens to be a theme park related photo. Proving it's never too early to start your kids off right, this is my daughter, Samantha, on her first visit to PKI in July, 1998. She was exactly one month old. Anyone else got photos of their first/early visits to a theme park??? Shari Check out those skinny legs!!
  11. My sister wouldn't ride a coaster if her life depended on it...think the biggest one she ever rode was the Beastie, and yet she has been up 3 or 4 times in the past 15 years. She absolutely loves it! Shari
  12. ^Yeah, and when I was 13, I weighed about 75 lbs myself..... check back with us in 25 years...... Meanwhile, can someone pass me one of those teas???? Shari "I've just been waiting for this product" Shoufler
  13. Dear Lord... I need to get a digital camera so I can keep up with all this! (If I could auction off the contents of Kristi and Gregg's fridge I would probably have enough to buy one!) Shari "with a film camera I am pretty much screwed out of all this randomness" Shoufler
  14. You guys are ate up. Must be why I like you and wish we didn't live halfway across the country from each other.... anyone who feels the need to post the contents of their refrigerator online is just weird enough for me. We have this amazing grocery store here in Cincy called "Jungle Jims", and I am just weird enough to take pictures inside of there..... I feel inspired, so that may come after my Holiday World report............... Shari
  15. Back when they used to have Winterfest, PKI would have the carousel, a few rides in HB (like the old Smurf ride, remember that?) and the train open, and the rest of the event were things like carriage rides, ice skating on the fountain, crafts, shows and FOOD!! However, at least one year, the weather warmed up to where they opened The Beast and a couple of other rides as the ice rink melted. It will be interesting to know more details..... Shari "I hope it will be as good as the old days...but, I doubt it" Shoufler
  16. ^ I was actually thinking "turtle crossing", but I liked my ideas better!
  17. Robb... What the hell does the OTHER sign in this photo mean? Some reference to 80's band "Men Without Hats?". Are you supposed to yield to diaphragms?? What is it, I am dying to know!! Shari
  18. Julie... Your trip reports rock!!! Are you still on the road and, if so, are you swinging by PKI???? Let me know if you are because I would love to meet you! Shari
  19. Thanks for all the suggestions so far..... I will spend some time playing with it tonight and tomorrow, and see what happens. Any other suggestions are welcome.... Nice to meet you, Maureen...glad to know that I am not the only one on here that is clueless about these things! Shari
  20. Yeah, my husband gets to live another day (I really did think he was joking, or at least misinformed), it's here in the paper today: http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050725/NEWS01/507250350/1077 Shari "and I posted this in the wrong place, but sorry, I was just excited about it" Shoufler
  21. OK.... here's the thing.... Christmas 2004 my mom got me a digital camera to replace the film camera I had broken a few weeks before. Since my husband already had a digital camera for his business, and since I didn't figure we had any of the "right" equipment to go with a digital camera here at home, I returned it for film camera. (Please stop laughing, pick yourself up off the floor, and read on....) Since then, my husband sold the digital camera (his business tanked) and we have gotten an really nice scanner, copier, printer thingy that I can take photos and scan them into my computer. Problem is, I can't seem to be able to take those images and post them here. We're going to Holiday World Wednesday, and I really want to be able to do a photo trip report, but I have no clue what to do. I can tell you that the photo program I scan into is called "Picture It" and that I can save the photo to .jpg, however, I can't get the image it be small enough to post here. Also, I don't know how to post multiple pictures here. Any thoughts or advice are appreciated... Shari "still moving into the new millenium" Shoufler
  22. Rumor has it that, tomorrow, PKI will be announcing the return of Winterfest to the park. For those of you PKI fans, or who are here in southern Ohio, you may remember this was a pretty popular holiday festival held at the park from mid-November-New Years. Paramount did away with it after the first couple of years they owned the park, despite the fact that it was a big hit with everyone and they received many complaints about it being discontinued. (I know, because I was working there back around that time and had to listen to the complaints). I don't know any details other than supposedly the announcement is coming tomorrow...... Shari "and if I find out it's only a rumor, someone around here's going to be in the doghouse now that I posted this!" Shoufler
  23. I'm not.... unless, of course, you would like to take me with you!!! I was there in November 2001 (right after 9/11, so take that into consideration) and the crowds were extremely light at Disney. If you are going to be there anytime mid-month on, you should get the opportunity to enjoy the holiday decorations as they were putting them up in full force when we were there November 11-13 that year. Shari "I'll go if someone wants to take me with them...and pay for me" Shoufler
  24. You have family here in Mason??? Cool! I sadly have to agree with you about the Beast. I rode it about a month ago for the first time since late last summer. It just about killed me. By the final helix I was literally gripping my head for fear of injury, which sounds totally lame, but that is just how rough it was. It broke my heart I honestly thought it was me, getting old. Glad to know it's not! Going to Holiday World myself this week. I am relieved to know their coasters are smoother as my Beast experience had me a bit leery. Shari "great TR" Shoufler
  25. Boy, we Midwesterners have been fooled for years that CA is supposed to be this hot, sunny, beach and bikini place. Who knew? Meanwhile, it hit about 95 today here in the Ohio Valley and you could fry an egg on the sidewalk the sun was so intense. Shari "That didn't even look fun " Shoufler
