  1. Fun TR... looks like you had a nice time with your wife, and well deserved. Where is your mom from here in OH? Shari
  2. I see a locked topic here in the very near future, especially since this thread was really just an inquiry about Dan. Shari
  3. Jules, you are truly living up to Alvey standards with your pics and commentary... I love it!! I think you photograph was much more interesting than the kid in a sailor suit that got the blue ribbon. You were robbed! And that woman....... ugh. How does anyone LIVE with a stomach that hangs down like that??? I am not trying to be mean, I just don't understand how you could even feel comfortable? Shari "she'd have broken the giant chair" Shoufler
  4. My apologies if someone has already posted this (or something like it).... http://www.wesh.com/travelgetaways/4961161/detail.html Shari
  5. I'd be happy to send Sammi's neon orange "Six Flags" pair from Wendy's to support the cause. Shari "Anything to get even one damn Happy Meal toy out of my house" Shoufler
  6. ^ yeah, but I would have to say the crowd seems to "mellow" with each passing year.... we're all getting too damn old for the heavy partying. Shari "Plus, when you spend $50 a ticket, you actually want to remember what you went to see" Shoufler
  7. OK, so I am a little behind in posting these... the concert was 3 weeks ago!.... but it's been a busy time at my house. I am a huge Jimmy Buffett fan. Back about 15-16 years ago, my best friend Lisa had tickets to go to his concert here in Cincinnati, and she had recently broken up with her loser boyfriend and so she invited me. She kept telling me how much outrageous fun it was, and she was right. Cincinnati, as some of you may know, is a notoriously conservative town. But when Buffett comes to town it's like a combination of Mardi Gras, Halloween and some tripped-out beach party. In fact, the term "Parrothead" was coined right here, 20 years ago, at one of his concerts at Timberwolf at Kings Island. Back when I first started going to Buffett, it was all about the beer and the booze and the craziness. But, I fell in love with his music and the fun attitude of it, and so the concert has become an annual tradition that has included my going with several friends, their kids, their MOMS, my niece (who, when she died suddenly at the age of 23, was buried with a copy of the Parrothead handbook) and now, this year, my little Sam. If you have never been to a JB concert, I can only suggest you try it once. Even if you are not a huge fan of his music, believe me, you will leave a fan. He is probably one of the best and most interactive performers you will ever see, and it's just a fun, evening-long, escape from reality. Shari "proud to be a Parrothead since 1989" Shoufler My friend, Sandy, snapped this when we were dancing to "Gypsies in the Palace". Among the many funny "costumes" and things in the crowd was this Buffett puppet that JB later held up for the crowd to see. Here's my little Parrothead waiting for the concert to start.
  8. ^Cool beans!! Samantha and I thank you for the info.. Shari "I can't wait to go" Shoufler
  9. That sounds great! We are slowly developing a training division for our practice and I am hoping to get my hand in that as I am currently the trainer for our telecommunications system, but we'll see. Shari "I want a title" Shoufler
  10. You know, I had kinda forgotten about this.... and we are tentatively planning our trip for next August so this will be another awesome thing to look foward to. Shari "It better be a 48" height requirement or I know someone who'll be ticked" Shoufler
  11. Thanks for sharing these.... I have a seven year old and two years ago I took her and her cousin to the Wiggles concert here in Cincinnati. I have to say, that, even for the parents, it was a bit like seeing "The Beatles" or something... They really put on an outstanding show for kids. I am kinda surprised, with their popularity here, that Disney hasn't added an area like this. Wouldn't it be great if they updated the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" playground at MGM to a Wiggles themed area??? Shari "Wake Up JEFF!!" Shoufler
  12. Congrats Gregg!!! That is awesome and I am sure you worked hard for it. What do you train people to do at Blue Cross? I work for a huge private ophthalmology practice, so the words "Anthem-BC/BS" are part of my daily vocabulary. Shari
  13. ^^ Agreed. My problem is that between all the jokes Robb and Elissa make, I have a hard time keeping track of who's straight and who's gay!!! Shari "not that it matters, I'm married.... but I do have some single friends" Shoufler
  14. The fish pond is cool. Is that what they call a KOI pond?? Shari "I bet the kids loved that... feeding fish is always a big deal" Shoufler
  15. The only thing I could think of when I saw that bunny was Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge because when Herb and I went on our honeymoon there, 10+ years ago, they had these places called "Bunny Golf" where you played putt-putt golf among these cute little (and very hungry on a weekday) bunnies. One even jumped out to stop my ball from rolling down the hill. I swear! I have video. Damn PETA people probably got it shut down, though, 'cause they were gone last time we were there. Nonetheless, I am going to say Gatlinburg/Dollywood. Shari "But I am sure I am wrong" Shoufler
  16. OK, so back to this RANDOM topic... I have a 7 year old, so I generally don't see anything that she can't see, mainly because she's more willing to be my date than her father is. We saw Madagascar, and frankly, I was disappointed in it. I just thought it was odd, and not nearly as creative as Shrek or even Shark Tale. Of course, since we took a dozen of Sammi's friends for her birthday, I was making frequent drink and bathroom runs, so maybe I missed something. We loved Charlie ..... I personally thought that Johnny Depp did an outstanding job and the movie was, as Sam informed me, more true to the book, which is rare these days. Shari "waiting for Chicken Little" Shoufler
  17. After the tragic incident at Holiday World back in 2003, I was reading an internet article about what had happened, and there was a link to "another" enthusiast website. Someone there had posted a link to TPR, although I suspect it wasn't done with the intention of creating TPR fans. Well, it did me! I spent hours (here at work, no less) looking at all of the photos, cracking up at the captions and really renewing my one-time interest of traveling around visiting theme parks. I remember emailing Robb and Elissa at the time about how much I liked the website and admired their ability to travel to so many parks, etc. I've been coming here ever since and I have really enjoyed getting to know everybody!! Shari "my favorite pics are the Alvey wedding photos" Shoufler
  18. Oh, no.... I didn't mean it that way, either. Trust me, I am a bit morbid in my fascination with it all....it's just so unbelievable. I really was referring more to the "will they rebuild?" type comments. Of all the things that need to be rebuilt, Six Flags is, I am sure, the least of anyone's concern at this point. However, it is amazing to see any park in the aftermath of a storm or natural disaster. I wasn't offended with the posting of the pics...they are really interesting. Shari "I must have had angry sounding fingers when I was posting yesterday" Shoufler
  19. NO, NO, NO..... I meant in their appearance Gregg!! Amanda looks more like you (minus the bald head, thankfully) and Josh's features favor Kristi. Shari "giggling at the misunderstanding" Shoufler
  20. This is reminding me of some CSI episode............................. Shari "somebody call Grissom in on this one" Shoufler
  21. I had just signed on for the first time today, and when I saw Elissa's avatar had changed, I knew immediately what must have happened! You guys were awesome to take the little rodent in, and you prolonged his life with that deed, so that says a lot about you both. I know he was as special and precious to you as a pet can be! Elissa, Sammi and I will be thinking of you with lots of love...... Shari
  22. Girl!! I have a Corolla too! What year is yours?? Mine's an '04, got rid of a Sienna minivan a year ago in June and damn glad now I did. The status of a mini van or SUV or whatever is not worth going broke. Shari "gas jumped to over $3 here in Cincy today for the first time" Shoufler
  23. ^ Yup and there's a nice upper class Catholic family from right here in Cincy that's in the Race this time, so we're going to be cheering for them. Shari "always gotta cheer for the locals" Shoufler
  24. oh my gosh... this is really going to make look old.... Shaun Cassidy Philip McKeon (from "Alice") Scott Baio plus, in the late 80's, when I was about 19/20 I had this HUGE crush on this guy who used to play for the Reds, named Kurt Stillwell. I pretty much stalked the poor guy, for which I feel like a total ass. He lives in San Diego now, so if any of you Californians know who he is, please tell him I am sorry for stalking him. Shari
  25. That is like the nicest looking outdoor party for a GUY that I have ever seen, and those cakes look awesome. We have a strong German heritage here in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I live and we have a lot of places that make pastries that look like those. German pastries ROCK!! Happy Belated birthday to Fynn!! Shari
