  1. In regards to late night buffets on cruises. Is anyone aware of any line that has a late night breakfast \ omelet bar? I would love to be able to get breakfast after having a few beers in the evening on one of the decks.
  2. Looks like the long rumored Big Thunder Mountain rehab may be closer. 01/07/13 - 10/30/13 - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneyland/plan.htm#rehab 10 months is a long time. However, from my last visit that attraction really needed attention.
  3. Idlewild is getting a new Lazy River for 2013. http://idlewild.com/lazyriver/
  4. Add, 2010 - Shoot The Rapids..... Late opening since the boats did not fit the flume.
  5. PETA should be awarding SeaWorld. By keeping the KILLER whales captive they are saving countless sea lions from becoming dinner each day.
  6. ^ You called it http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/10/seaworld-killer-whale-injury-spurs-peta-complaint/
  7. Much will depend on the weather this weekend. It appears there may be some rain and that could work into your advantage if it is not a massive downpour. It has been a few years since I have been there for Halloweekends. However, from what I have read it is still the same with crowds. Friday has a more limited operation of rides I believe and should have a moderate crowd. Saturday will most likely be very crowded with long lines. The last time I was there Mean Streak even had a real long line into the queue. Yes, I said Mean Streak…… I would hit more popular rides like Maverick and Millennium Force on Friday. Leave Sat for flat rides and smaller coasters like Cedar Creak Mine Ride and Blue Streak. Also, some of the haunts are geared for younger kids. One example would be Boo Hill.
  8. ^ The cottages being demolished are actually owned by The Inn At Presque Isle and not owned by individuals. I am not sure if the mobile homes that got an extended six month lease are vacation homes or primary residents that live there. I believe there is one full house on that property also. In my five years staying there, I got to know the Inn property manager pretty well and we talked all the time while I stayed there. The cottages where rented by folks that have been coming for years and years. There is also one family that would rent them all for a week and fly family in from all over the country for a week long family reunion. Some of the people who did this on a yearly basis will probably be disappointed. As far as the mobile park goes. According to the property manager for the Inn, he said The Inn actually owned the property and the mobiles homes had long leases. They where trying to get them out for years. He even said they tried to make noise early in the morning and such with the hopes they would drop their lease. Nothing they ever did would get the people to leave though. I would be curious on what condition Mr. Nelson got to be able to ignore the current long lease and extend it for just six months. Of course, most of this is if the property manager was telling the whole story. He seemed pretty reliable though on what he talked about though.
  9. Most people may not be familiar with the Inn they bought so I marked up a picture since I stay there all the time. There is a lot of grass in the corner of the motel portion that is unused by the pool area. It would be nice if they where able to fit a restaurant in there for the motel that did breakfast, lunch, dinner and had an outdoor bar by the pool. Also, keep it open to non-hotel guests for extra cash flow with a parking lot for that. They could probably give Sandbar up the street a run for their money if done properly. Green = The actual motel portion they are keeping as their motel. Red = The cottages the are tearing down and making a parking lot. This also includes the mobile homes the article mentioned. Blue = The general area of the wave pool from the photos in the existing lot.
  10. Wow, I did not see this coming so soon, looks like a good plan. Although, I am disappointed that the cottages are being torn down. I have stayed in those for the past 4 - 5 years during my trip there. Oh well, I guess I will stay at the main Inn now . I wonder if they will eliminate or just reroute the entrance next to Waterworld and the Comet. It appears from the pictures that this is the area they are putting the Wave Pool. I also noticed they said a water ride down by the lake. Maybe this will be a Shoot The Chute ride, I am not sure if there is enough room there for a decent size rapids ride down there along with everything else listed going in there.
  11. According to the Screamscape news today he figured it all out for us. http://screamscape.com/html/kennywood.htm
  12. Yes, this one is bad. I do not feel as sorry for someone who gets to drunk and falls of the side while trying to jump balconies. That can be summed up with the Darwin Awards. However, this one is a case of someone being a true victim that will impact the rest of their life. A soon as I saw the headline topic and opened, I just knew it was going to be on Carnival though.
  13. More Carnival blunders.... http://www.cafemom.com/articles/in_the_news/142474/teen_girl_allegedly_gang_raped?utm_medium=sem2&utm_campaign=prism&utm_source=outbrain&utm_content=0
  14. ^ Wow, I have never seen one of those before, that is pretty cool looking. Does Huss still sell rides? I have not seen a part install one in years. I thought I heard at one point they just do parts for existing rides now. I am not sure if that is true since their website still has a catalog. I wonder what the downfall of Huss was. At one point they where one of the hottest flat ride providers and then went cold all of a sudden. Seems like Zamperlas is the new Huss for flats.
  15. ^ I know folks where worried about people throwing up after drinking a beer and riding. If they stayed away from Iron City they should be OK.
  16. Made my yearly travel from Phoenix to the Presque Isle \ Erie area this past weekend. I made it a long weekend and got there Friday evening and left Monday morning. I usually stay there for a little over the week. However, due to work load in Pittsburgh the previous week and needing to be back I needed to shorten this years trip. I stayed in my usual spot at The Inn At Presque Isle Cottages. I downgraded this year from a B style to a D style though. Only my 6 year old was back with me and I did not need all the space and she spent a couple of nights in my parents camper anyways. I would really recommend this place to anyone going to be there few days. If you can rough it without TV or AC the cottages are great. If you can not then the Inn is also very good. I however borrow and TV and DVD player from my parents and take it with me. I may purchase a cheap wall AC unit for next year though to take. Either way, both are in walking distance of Waldameer without needing to cross a road. Waldameer was fun as usually. Sat was extremely packed and had at least a 15 minute wait for the lazy river. Sun was had a large rain storm in the morning and kept the crowds down. I did not get to do any slides this year since I could not fit them in and Sat was to packed. Sun was to cool for my Arizona A$$ so I did not bother going in the water park. My daughter and I hit everything but X-Scream, RF 2, Sky Ride and Wipeout. She ended up doing Steel Dragon this year for the first time and loved it. Her new favorite ride is The Comet. Whacky Shack was pretty much the same as last year with the addition of the dual loading line. This was not being used most likely due to what AJ pointed out earlier. I really hope they paint more stunts like the spiders and the skull waterfall in the next year or so. The new painted one from last year look good. Pirates Cove is looking good inside with some of its stunts repainted. I see they also added back the chests with hands coming out in the draw bridge scene. As with Whacky Shack, I hope they refurb some more stunts in the suture. My daughter did her usual 30 times threw with no line as always. The Comet was only running one train and the ride opp mentioned it will not be ready for two train opp until next year. I got to meet Mr Nelson for the first time. He talked with me for about five minutes and was really nice. He seems really excited about putting in the Music Express and fixing up the whole area. I saw him the next day staring at the basketball game. He went over to some game folks and was talking to them. As he walked away they said back to him they are not attached to it anyways while laughing. I guess this sealed its future... I asked him about the wave pool and he said it is still in planning and really wants to add it. He mentioned he wants it very large because of a friend he had who owned another park and tripled the size after adding a wave pool from its success. I was not sure what park he was talking about though. I could have probably sat there and talked with him for an hour, but I did not want to take to much of his time up. Well, it was a great trip and I am looking forward to next year. Maybe I will ask Mr Nelson next year about the beach property and plans for that.
  17. My local news must have played this story ten times today that I have seen. They made it sound like the thing shot off the spike.
  18. Hello Robb, it is me again with another pain in the a$$ question. Do you think you will ever offer a polo style shirt in the TPR store with a nice logo by the left chest area? I only ask because I usually do not buy to many t-shirts since my job only allows polo's and full button ups. I generally just wear that stuff since I am actually used to it now. Thanks
  19. Wow, thanks that is a great summary. I will be there Aug 2 through 5, so it is a little more then a few weeks. Rides break and if Flying Swings is down then so be it for this trip. I feel that way for pretty much any ride. Looking forward to the Music Express next year. Do you know which manufacture they got.? It will be interesting to see them squeeze the Scrambler and it in that area. I was thinking it would look nice where The Wipeout is, partially because I just do not like that ride. Anyways, it is good to see they are adding this without having to remove something else. It is sad to hear about the background of the water wheel. However, it is understandable. Thanks
  20. I am getting ready to make my yearly trip to Waldameer and Presque Isle in the next few weeks (Four days at The Inn at Presque Isles Cottages). Has anyone been to the park in the past month and if so how operations are this year? I heard Pirates Cove was getting some work done over the off season. Was anything added to it or just a general clean up and paint here and there? Also, where did they moved the Wacky Shack queue to? One other item I was wondering about is the water mill attached to Thunder Rivers loading station. Is this a functional water mill that has just been broken for a few years? I have never seen it running nor have I seen a picture of it running with water. That makes me think it is just a prompt without a pump for water. It would be hard to believe that I have gone there the past 3 seasons and it would have been broken that long. Last year was pretty smooth for operations. Only Ali Baba was down most of our trip and was only open the last day.
  21. Thanks Wes, I reviewed the menu and was OK with it and based my prices off of that. I have not been to a California higher end restaurant (other than DCA for the Ariel Meet and Greet last year). How is the food quality for the price ( I know that is subject)? I am not looking for Ruth Chris or Morton's quality on the filet. I just want to make sure it is OK within reason, since my dad is getting a little older and bitches about dumb shit from time to time.
  22. I am going to be there all next week. I was wondering if some of the Disney Geeks can help me on something I am looking at doing. When I say Disney Geeks, that is a positive statement... I want to get my parents reservations to Blue Bayou with a prepaid card for around $100 to $120. How is the food quality for this amount? Also, I want my daughter to be able to wave to them from a distance and them wave back from POTC. It looks like it is possible from the few times I have been on the ride and saw the restaurant from the rides start. If their table is not in viewing range, then I planned on sending a them a text to come into range once we boarded and to come over to where the ride passes to see us. I want to do something special for them like this since they always make the time like this to see her.
  23. Wouldn't be a summer in Conneaut Lake without the pyros running around. I think they may be ahead of schedule this summer on number of fires in the area. http://www.erietvnews.com/story/18828719/4th-suspicious-fire-near-conneaut-lake-park
