  1. Yeah, something about it never opening or whatever.
  2. What a novel concept from Rainbow Magicland, to put VR on a coaster that isn't the tallest, fastest, or most popular at the park!
  3. Looks like a beautiful place- wouldn't expect anything less from place SAAB came from.
  4. https://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE:SIX
  5. The first drop doesn't have any trims to activate- those are thankfully just sensors. Still, they do waste a great layout, pointlessly, after that. Maybe their VR will help cover up all the raging lame that comes after the camel-back trim.
  6. (not my pics) These past two nights of Phish at Wrigley Field have certainly redefined things for me.
  7. I recall SFGAm's Demon came to an abrupt stop when components failed on the wheel assembly- but it stayed put after the fact, upside down. That said, when it comes to eyewitnesses, the mind has a funny way of processing things/recalling an incident when it's as shocking as this is. People watching a plane crash often come away with conflicting recollections. One may see fire when there was none, another will see it breaking up in-flight, and yet another will hear an engine sputter- only for an investigation to conclude that neither of the three occurred. I doubt in this case an investigation will take too long. Hopefully the riders are going to be ok- this is one of those things that in the back of my mind I know is possible, but the odds against it are so astronomical that I'd never consider it happening.
  8. It looks like they were able to take Batman The Ride and make it more intense. It's right at the top of my coaster bucket list.
  9. I wish they could have snagged Pitt Fall when Kennywood had it up for sale.
  10. Sit in the very back and enjoy getting just about chucked out of your seat on the first drop. I hope they never do vest restraints on this ride for that reason. It's not something you'd expect from an Arrow looper, but it's a quirk that I think came into existence when they re-profiled Turn of the Century to include the loops following the drop, and it''s some of the best air you'll find at SFGAm.
  11. *stops riding B&M coasters* :- )
  12. Initially, I couldn't either. After giving it some thought, and considering who "they" are, yeah. I wouldn't put it past them at all. I'd almost rather have seen them do this to Goliath, since that line already moves as swiftly as sh!t flowing uphill, and slowing it down more would be less noticeable.
  13. ...so kinda like a looping bumper cars. That was cheap...I don't mind Boomerangs.
  14. -Both Demon and Raging Bull have great first drops that are best taken in the last row. -Find a bench and go plank on it for about 2 minutes instead of riding S:UF. -I'd look to hit Goliath first just in case it goes down for the day (not unheard of). You'll also avoid the purgatory-esque line it it typically gets.
  15. I know it's partly the angle of the shot, but that section of track ought to provide a neat bit of force toward the base of the element/transition. I just wish Gerstlauer did longer trains on these things...
  16. As one who dislikes Eurofighters (they look sweet, ride weak), I hope you're right! This one does look intriguing, and living within driving distance, how can you not take a trip out there during the year they finally build a coaster? I look forward to riding it, hopefully this month.
  17. Cedar Fair: Maverick Herschend: Outlaw Run Parques Reunidos: Phantom's Revenge Seaworld: Kumba Six Flags: El Toro Universal: Dueling Dragons Indie: The Voyage/Skyrush/Storm Runner (I can't choose between these, and Indie is a broad category anyway).
  18. Not going to judge it until it leaves the paper, but I was going to say... I remember a good while back, there were some good-looking plans and a rumor going around about a terrain wood coaster. Looks like they would be going the slightly less ambitious route. I imagine the neighbors could have something to do with that. Alton is very high on my list of places to visit because of Nemesis, and I know Oblivion was a thing prior to that type evolving into what it is today with the Busch installations- but there are a lot of less than inspired designs at that park, it seems. I can see what they were shooting for with Thirteen, but beyond that (some would say failed) concept and Nemesis...?
  19. I wasn't expecting much out of Mehrenheit going in, and it in turn did not disappoint. I like it enough to warrant a token ride per-visit (line permitting). It looks really cool, though. Agreed, although that's not saying much. Great Bear was the biggest surprise at the park for me. I knew Skyrush and Storm Runner would be great, but Great Bear is among my favorite B&M Inverts. What a great setting, too.
