  1. ^LOL, the Shrek and Donkey idea would be sweet. Hopefully the Chiller rumor is true as it was a very good ride.
  2. Unfortunately we'll never know if they've fixed the reliability issues. Not much is known about the new GIB in China and how it's doing nor has anyone built a new flyer except for that Stingray concept, also in China, which Vekoma no longer offers on their site.
  3. ^Yes. When Superman Ultimate Escape opened at Six Flags Ohio in 2000 it was unnerving to see both spikes sway like they did. The twist spike saw a lot of welding done until they finally put the extra support up in 2003/2004.
  4. Hate to bring up an old topic and I've used the search button before posting but as someone who views manufacturer websites to see what's new I noticed Vekoma has updated their site. First a few questions. For those well-traveled folks who have had the chance to ride Battlestar Galactica Human, how well do those trains track? Is there any shuffling in the turns? Since the sit down trains on Human look very similar to B&M four across trains sans the clam shell restraint, are they comfortable? Since Vekoma is the only big time manufacturer without a hypercoaster do you think we will see a 200-foot traditional hyper using these four across trains or are they too late in the game to even try? Here's a few pics from their website. The four across train on BG Human that inspired my questions. Vekoma's Mega Looper. Notice the size of the lift hence the question if Vekoma could possibly do a hyper in the future. A new Flying Dutchman layout. Look at the interesting zero-G type roll after the second horseshoe turn.
  5. Thanks for posting that, Shane. Looking forward to seeing more from the book. Hard to believe Funtime was only ten years old and yet the transformation of Geauga Lake in that short time, now boasting two looping coasters (a first for an Ohio park), was a big deal back then. Oh, the memories. With so many companies building giant Ferris Wheels nowadays it would be cool to reintroduce the double Ferris Wheels/Skywheel again though the old Intamin spider arm double wheels were much cooler to ride.
  6. Hi Larry, Went to Darien Lake today so I snapped a few pics of their three new rides in Rowdy's Ridge for you. Heave Ho Sign Hornet's Nest Sign Moose On The Loose Sign Hoot'n Holler Sign. This is the former Brain Teaser kid's coaster. Best photo I could get of the ride. Raccoon Rally Sign. This is the junior Dodgems in the old Fascination building. Didn't get a photo of the ride as I didn't want folks to think I was "strange" taking photos of their kids. Fascination was moved to a new location in the park.
  7. ^I thought the Intamin version was a little rough, at least that's what I understand based on several reports I've read on Furious Baco. Now that it appears the B&M wing coaster is taking off fast I'd like to see Intamin do a B&M style wing coaster design instead of another launched model. CP already has enough launched coasters.
  8. Thanks for redoing some of these scenarios. A couple of requests for future release: Magic Quarters and Katie's World (the one with the mine train that resembles Lightwater's Ultimate). Someone mentioned Blackpool but I'd like to see the Alton Towers park redone in RCT2.
  9. As long as Herschend is operating Darien Lake I would expect to see quality additions to the park, not a used ride from Cedar Point. Based on the photos on Darien's Facebook page of the new Rowdy's Ridge area they did a nice job with it. More than likely Disaster Transport will go the way of Wildcat when that time comes.
  10. I agree. When I first saw Windseeker and Space Spiral close together last year I thought it did look a bit odd having two towers of similar height rather close. But that can also be said regarding Oil Derrick and Superman at SFOT and to some extent Drop Tower and Eiffel Tower at Kings Island. Playing armchair park president - I think Windseeker should have been built elsewhere. Calypso's spot would have been ideal as it would have drawn more traffic to Blue Streak, balanced out the park skyline (which I doubt means anything to anyone since Millennium Force is the only ride to dominate that particular side of the peninsula) and offered a better view of Sandusky Bay/downtown Sandusky in the distance though I'm sure the neighboring marina folks would have had a fit with the bright lights so close to them. As for Disaster Transport it's not a "bad" ride just the storyline was way off. You had to go through space just to get to Alaska? Made no sense. Also I always liked "DAVE", the animatronic robot in the first big room that communicated with the actors on the video screen when the ride first opened.
  11. Space Spiral is an iconic ride even though it lacks air conditioning in the cabin. I don't see them moving or removing it any time soon. I realize the tower is a Von Roll but could they replace the double cabin with a single Intamin cabin?
  12. Robb, thanks for the GL pics. If I was to try to get similar photos like that I'd have the Bainbridge Township cops on my a$$. It is depressing to see. Enjoyed the CP photos and glad it was a good time for you despite all the filming. If Mean Streak is tolerable now it won't be by August.
  13. Glad to see a Musik Express is coming to Waldameer. It would fit in well with the park. I just hope they won't play a bunch of crappy music while you ride. I thought there were plans to put a food court in the old carousel bulding. They definitely need to increase the variety of food options in the park.
  14. I actually find Divertical quite fascinating and it looks great. With no splash at the bottom of the big drop I'm thinking they will do a wall of water to simulate a splash.
  15. Steve, you have to stop teasing us. What is that free-standing building behind the games complex?
  16. Thanks for the report. Mr. Freeze is my favorite shuttle coaster and it sounds even more awesome in reverse. Too bad St. Louis, the closest Mr. Freeze to me, is so far away.
  17. I was there yesterday (the park was slammed with Music In The Park folks) and Windseeker was still closed. Maintenance was working on it. At one point during the day they did raise the carriage to the top. I agree with you and Real - the Beast was running great yesterday. Got a front seat ride and seen all the new wood they put in on the turns. Should make night rides seem even faster (I didn't stay all day to find out).
  18. Just got home from Kings Island and I see these awesome shots of Shambhala. It's all the little details that make it a complete ride. Love the look of the area around the coaster, the colors on the trains, and the detail on the tunnel. The water feature is truly unique as I thought it would have those scoops like on Diamondback. Thanks for taking the time to post them.
  19. You have no idea how many times I heard the GP say that Kings Island needed a ride like Dragster while waiting for the metal detectors to open during the Paramount years. I can see something along the lines of a Storm Runner if they ever wanted to go that route but that's a pipe dream.
  20. Those pics are awesome. Thank you so much posting them. If all goes well I'll be there in mid-June to ride it. As for the "Six Flags" other than the three original parks what six flags have flown over California, Illinois, and New Jersey?
  21. "Desert Drop", though a bit Cedar Fair-ish, is a lot better than just calling it "Drop Tower". Would it be okay if I offered "Perilous Pitfall" as a new name for it?
  22. I've had good rides (seat 6-2 in the old Premier trains actually made the ride bearable since you weren't sitting on a wheel seat and the vocalizations of those riding behind you were priceless). The ride should have been ripped out in phases as soon as the ride was closed for good after the last incident. No amount of work, not even Rocky Mountain track, will save that ride. Would be a nice location for a full-circuit invert that uses the topography.
  23. Thanks for the photos. Gets me pumped for my first visit in a couple of weeks to break in my Gold Pass. I, too, love Skyline Chili and usually frequent the one you visited by The Beach before I head home. Those slides were there for a couple of years and my understanding is that they were to be installed in the park awhile back but have been sitting there. What sections were redone on Beast? Last year it was the the turn out of the shed brake they completely rebuilt. The turn after the ravine drop was a bit on the brutal side last year as the train would shimmy as it headed towards the shed. Did you notice if they gave Invertigo's train a new paint job to go with the new newly painted track? Can't imagine the green would go well with the blue paint.
  24. Great to see something positive finally happening at CGA. Given all the drama over the past few years I wonder if any GP think the park is closing and they are starting to level the park.
