NEWS: The Beach Waterpark Reopens
Geauga Dog replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is a bummer since I've never had a chance to go there. IIRC it was one of the best water parks in the country back in the day. Sad to see it go. Going to seem strange not seeing people lined up for the slides next to I-71, especially that tall speed slide that appears to be insanely steep. -

The logo reminds me too much of Cedar Point though I'm happy they put the emphasis on the Eiffel Tower. I'm rather picky but the old Taft logo would have been nice to bring back for a year. Kings Island should have a park museum like CP does. The former International Restaurant would make a nice spot even if it's just for a limited time. -

Based on my Carowinds visit last year, and not sure if it's normal operation but this is how they operated their coasters on a Tuesday and Wednesday visit in mid-June: Intimidator - 2 trains Afterburn - 2 trains Thunder Road - 1 train on each side Carolina Cyclone - 1 train Nighthawk - 1 train on Tuesday and 2 trains on Wednesday Richochet - I want to say three cars Carolina Goldrusher - 2 trains Hurler - 2 trains on Tuesday and 1 train on Wednesday Vortex - 2 trains Is this similar to KD's operations? -
It seems Martin's Fantasy Island continues growing as they are adding "Dragster Drench", a four lane racing slide that will be located next to the Cannon Bowl. Nice to see this park continue to improve as it is a quirky yet fun little park. https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Martins-Fantasy-Island/120242988042980 Photo from their Facebook page:

For being a relatively short ride it seems like it's going to pack a punch. I particularly like how the first dive/drop makes it look like you are going to go into the water. -

I like the look of that Skyrush car. I just wonder how much vibration the wing seats might have compared to the regular seats as there seems to be minimum support under it (but of course it's still under plastic to get a real good view). -

That's how I feel now that the ugly screen is gone. What a huge improvement. Makes Millennium Force's lift hill become the true focal point it should have always been on this midway. -

That is such a stunning photo of the "ampersand element" or "Shambhala Curve" or whatever you want to call it. I also like how the bluish rails and track ties just "pop" in that photo against the white box beam. I know I'm putting waaay too much thought into it but it sort of looks like they took Alpengeist's first drop, doubled and mirrored one side, then flipped it over for a regular sit down coaster. -

^I expect them to charge for the movie. Kings Island did it and if the upcharge movie did decent business. -

Also scratch UFO at Darien Lake as the last operating Huss UFO in North America as Canada's Wonderland also has one (and from the photos of Leviathan it's right next to it). -

Given the state of the lighting on those three attractions as of late this is great news. Power Tower's lighting hasn't worked right in years, Millennium Force's lighting has lost its dramatic effects, and the Giant Wheel consistently suffers from sections of burned out lights. Besides CP really comes to life at night with all the rides lit up. -
Thanks for posting the photos. I think one of the biggest improvements, as minor as it is, was the painting of the Soak City slides. They are going to make a rather bland looking water park much more vibrant. I guess the new mat racing slide hasn't started to go up yet. Looking forward to the rest of your photos.

Hopi Hari Theme Park 2011 - Brazil
Geauga Dog replied to Lucas.Almeida's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It has always been my thought that there were sensors on these rides that if the restraint wasn't properly closed the ride would not be able to run. Sorry to hear this news. -

QFT. I love, love, love the look of that helix. A great departure from the usual hammerhead turnarounds on the more recent B&M's. -

Shanghai had a World Expo last year. As a kid I was fascinated with the '82 Worlds Fair even though I never had the chance to visit so thanks for posting this update. I think the Sunsphere is awesome. -

I find it rather unusual that the large camelback is done before the first drop is completed. It also seems to have a slightly tighter radius at the top. The turnaround is going to look awesome. I just hope it delivers like the helix turnaround on SFOG's Goliath. BTW why does it always seem like the top of Huracan Condor is always crooked or is that the way its supposed to be? -

Construction updates on DiVertical have been rather quiet lately but it's great to finally get to see the actual layout in the schematic drawing. This new style of water ride is rather intriguing. -

Isn't there a small parking area across Perimeter Road from Millennium Force?
