It's not fair to answer this since I haven't been to Florida yet but I pick SoCal. Yeah, Magic Mountain isn't all that great despite having a few decent coasters but Knott's was pretty good and Disneyland was an amazing experience back in 2001. Plus I'll take mountains and palm trees over the topography in this part of the country.

Whats your favorite Vekoma?
Geauga Dog replied to Neogreeneyez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Definitely the Giant Inverted Boomerangs but I'll also add SFOG's Ninja as my favorite of the full circuit Vekoma coasters. -
The Official TPR Video Thread!
Geauga Dog replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Never got to ride it but I always thought it had an interesting layout. Maybe it seemed rough since it was a steel structure and not a wood structure (though the Gerst trains don't help either). -
Though I live in the home state of Cedar Fair my choice is Six Flags. They have been more innovative and seem to not be afraid to add unique attractions to their parks. Six Flags has been way in front when it comes to using technology in comparison to Cedar Fair though CF is trying to catch up. Under Kinzel CF parks were becoming quite sterile though I really like the direction Matt Ouimet is doing chainwide. Cedar Point lost some of its luster in the mid 2000's but is slowing getting it back. Operations is the only thing hurting Six Flags though I've had some very good visits to SFOG, SFGAm and SFStL in the past few years.

107 faaaaaast flips on a Topspin !
Geauga Dog replied to GeorgeT's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
And Geauga's Texas Twister was one of the better run Top Spins even though it only flipped you maybe four or five times depending on the weight of the carriage. Back in the day I could probably handle it but now I think I'll pass. -

That yellow track looks really sharp against all that pink in the dome. This ride will surely stand out. -

Sling Shot is VERY popular, especially when they have $10 per ride deals in the morning like Xtreme Skyflyer. Instead of removing it they should relocate it to Coney Mall (where Flight Commander used to be and is now the Dinosaurs Alive event pavilion. Besides the Oktoberfest section of the park needs a bit of an update and a couple of flats would be nice in that spot. Riding The Beast when the colors are at their peak is one of the best times to ride the coaster. It's beautiful and amazing at the same time. -
Geauga Lake Discussion Thread

^Right after this video was taken the skycoaster was removed. I would not be surprised if Wildwater Kingdom meets the fate of the Knott's Soak City parks in California and is put up for sale. There is no reason for the water park to be without a new water attraction since 2006. After all Bill Spehn is back in Aurora running things again. -
What's your most hated coaster company?
Geauga Dog replied to mrlego611's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I, too, don't hate any particular company though I think Paramount Parks is a good company to bring up as you had to scratch your head on some of their ride additions during their short tenure in the park industry, especially at Canada's Wonderland, despite the big attendance numbers that parks gets installs a Vekoma SLC and a Zamperla Volare over better options. Zamperla makes some great flats but some of their coasters are a bit lackluster. Knott's Pony Express doesn't seem to get good reviews. Martin's Fantasy Island's Crazy Mouse hardly spins and Darien Lake's MotoCoaster, despite having a decent launch, doesn't do much. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think one of the issues is that as CP has grown the causway hasn't been upgraded to support the kind of traffic the park gets on some days. Unfortunately it would be a very expensive fix to try to widen the road. The only logical thing that could be done is to take the incoming lanes leading to the peninsula to one lane at closing time thus making the road a three lane outbound all the way to Route 6. -

I totally agree. I wasn't sure if Flight Deck was open Friday night since I didn't hear it running at first and with Club Blood using FD's entrance for its queue it was confusing and wasn't sure if going back there was a good idea. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was there Friday night (one of best theme park visits I've had in quite a while) and most of yesterday and I didn't notice anything different with Flight Deck's queue. The ride definitely needs a makevover or something as it's looking a bit shabby including the trains, which seen dirty and worn. Even though it's just the lift hill Banshee is looking great and will have many photo opportunities. I was wondering though if the I Scream ice cream stand will be demolished to make way for the dive loop as it looks like it may be in the way. Also Delirium is going to offer some very cool views of the ride as you swing over Banshee, especially if it's timed just right when a train goes by as you swing over it. -
What is your next park?
Geauga Dog replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm ending my season at Kings Island tomorrow night and maybe part of Saturday. Really looking forward to Beast at night (haven't done that in a few years) as well as first time night rides on Diamondback. -

I love that view from Coney Mall. It sort of gives Coney two bookends with Banshee's lift on one end and Vortex on the other. -
Nice to see some attention being given to Festa Italia, which along with Kilarney, needs the most work. With Busch usually putting in coasters that are either hot at the mement or at least currently popular elsewhere my guess is that it could be an RMC wood or hybrid coaster or a B&M wing coaster since it seems they love their Beemers. How quiet is Outlaw Run? The neighbors at Kingsmill would have a fit if a more traditional wood coaster was built.

KingRCT3's NoLimits creations
Geauga Dog replied to KingRCT3's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I do like the look of this ride. It's almost as if you took the concept of a tilt coaster and refined it with the arm. Love the unique elements especially the crossed cobra roll and overcurve. -

^Did you try Boeckling's Eerie Estate and Blood On the Bayou? I don't do haunted houses (though I love scare zones like Screamworks) and you didn't mention those. Putting CarnEvil in Planet Snoopy was an odd choice of location. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Same here. I like the view of the park as you drive along Kings Island Drive towards the south parking lot entrance though the view as you near the park while going north on I-71 is great as well. While Banshee may not have the commanding presence its predecessor had but it does look great filling in that side of the park. Can't be any worse than SOB's very loud anti-rollbacks and when the train disengatged off the lift. I like the B&M roar but it seemed like Raptor's and Mantis' were more amplified which irritated me for some reason this year. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wanted Io wait until I read more reviews before commenting and I'm happy that the ride is getting great reviews. It's not very often we see parks try something unique and despite the very, very lengthy wait it appears the ride was worth it in the end. It seems after all the jokes aimed at Knoebel's about the Flying Turns they are the ones with the last laugh. -
Kennywood - I don't go via Monroeville but through downtown Pittsburgh and the whole section from I-579 to I-376 is a pain. Plus the neighborhood around Rankin along Braddock Road before you get to the bridge is a bit sketchy. SFGAm - Taking the Ohio and Indiana Turnpikes are a total bore as there is nothing to see but once you get to the portion of the Indiana Turnpike around Gary/Hammond it's a nightmare with all the trucks. I go through downtown Chicago instead of the Tri-State Tollway, which some may think is suicide once you get to the Dan Ryan portion of I-94 but at least you aren't stopping every so many miles to pay a toll and the view of Chicago's magnificent skyline is a bonus perk of taking that route.

Carowinds Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^Carowinds' offerings may not stack up to the likes of SFOG's but it isn't as bad as you make it out to be. I also think the funds to repaint Afterburn in a new color scheme should go towards something that would benefit the park better. I actually like the silver and blue colors it already has.
