Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Geauga Dog replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It seems a lot of the recent Beemers go up the lift fast. Can't wait to ride it. I find it odd that one of my local television stations did a story on this especially since Kings Island is not within their marketing area. -

I would think, based on previous examples of large coaster projects, we should see work begin by mid to late summer. That would be when the park starts teasing about the new ride. -

Thanks for the photo's, Chuck. Whenever the southern parks start opening up it only helps in knowing the parks up here will be opening shortly as well. Even without the leaves BGW is beautiful. I was hoping Europe In The Air would have been gone for good after closing early last year. I still think a Madhouse should replace it, maybe with a storyline using Clancy from the old Castle O'Sullivan show. -
Wow, talk about something coming from out of left field. This is great news for Alabama. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all turns out. I wonder if the idea to buy another property came from coming together for the Bluegrass Boardwalk project and the feud just sort of pushed the idea faster. Also, if the ride side didn't do so well under the two or three prior owners would bringing back the ride side be a good idea? I have no doubt that the Kochs can revive the park as a whole using the Holiday World formula that has been very successful but from what I understand most people would just go to SFOG anyway.

I agree with Larry, sounds more like a Ring of Fire type ride. -

This is an absolutely stunning park! Definitely has a more European feel to it. -

I think the cover looks great and since I don't think KI is getting anything major in 2015 I would expect an actual picture of Banshee will grace the cover of the 2015 park guide. -

If you owned your own theme park

^I've created a few theme parks over the years and I created one around the same theme but centered around the holidays found within them. It's sort of like a larger version of Holiday World. Name: Four Seasons Themed Areas: Four Seasons Plaza - typical Main Street and hub that leads to the other areas of the park. Summer Festival of Freedom (4th of July theme) County fair-style theme with attractions such as Old Glory, a GCI wood twister, Sky Pilot, a Larson Flying Scooters, Space Shuttle Freedom, an Intamin Looping Starship. The area also has the Young Patriots kid's area, with several attractions for the younger guests. Holiday Shores This would be the park's ten-acre water park. Fall Oktoberfest While not exactly a holiday it is a celebration of the fall harvest season and would have attractions like Bavarian Bounty, a Zamperla Galleon, Spinnen Keggars, an Intamin Drunken Barrells, Schuhplattler, a Chance Wipeout, and Spinmeister, a Gerstlauer spinning coaster. Kinderland is the area's kid's section. Haunted Hollow (Halloween) As one of the biggest areas of the park, we up the scares as we celebrate Halloween with attractions such as Phantom's Freefall, an Intamin Giant Drop, Bump In The Night, an enclosed bumper cars with special lighting effects,, Reaper, a Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerang, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a wood GCI dueling coaster and The Wraith, a B&M inverted coaster. Probably one of the most expensive rides would be Netherworld, using the same ride technology as BGW's Curse of DarKastle. Pumpkin Patch would the kid-friendly ride area. Winter Winterburg Another of the biggest areas of the park it would be themed as an Alpine ski village some of the attractions would be Glacier River, an Intamin river raft ride, Yeti, an Intamin hyper coaster, Arctic Blast, a Premier or Mack launched coaster, and Alpenbahn, a Mack bobsled. Santa's Toyland, a Christmas themed area for kids, would be the largest kid's section in the park. Spring Spring Valley I know it's a rather generic name but this area would be a bit more laid back than the other areas, focusing on beautiful gardens, statuary, and fountains. A few of the attractions that would be located here include the Giant Wheel, a 120-foot Ferris Wheel, Basket Weaver, a Zamperla Balloon Race, Spring Fling, a Funtime Starflyer, Garden Cruise, a Mack Tow Boat Ride through gardens. Jellybean Junction, an Easter themed sub-area, would include Egg Roll, a Larson Tilt-A-Whirl, Easter Egg-spress, a specially themed Zamperla Crazy Bus, Bunny Hop, a Moser Spring Ride, and Peter Cottontail's Egg Hunt, an interactive dark ride. -
For me it started very young with visits to Memphis Kiddie Park, which wasn't too far from my house and my parents would take the annual family trip to Cedar Point. Once Kings Island was built we would take a trip down there every few years. As I got older I became more fascinated with roller coasters which in turn started my love affair with the amusement industry.

Very nice. Much better than the Top Gun/Flight Deck colors. -

Son of Beast's lift didn't look all that impressive as you drove south on I-71. You are going up a hill as you drive past The Beach towards the Kings Mills exit and even then you don't really get the best view until you are almost past the park. The best views are heading north and from what I recall during my visit last October Banshee's lift does look impressive on the skyline. -

Being a fan of the cheesy Godzilla movies of the 60's and 70's I'm looking forward to it. It can't be worse than the Roland Emmerich Godzilla with Matthew Broderick which was horrible. -

Maybe the bottom part of the station is for the on-ride photo booth. Even though I like the look of the station I thought the colors would be just a tad darker. -

Awesome pics. I remember those plastic fruit drinks from the 70's/80's. I like that photo of the Tiki Twirl. It's very rare to find a photo of that ride. I also like Troika in its original location though it does help liven up the area by Gatekeeper/maXair. -
I really like Gunslinger, a much welcome addition in a park full of steel. Looks like a Mr. Twister (old Elitch's) clone. Out of curiosity you said you import the coasters from No Limits, which I would have never thought was possible. Do you need to have No Limits to do this or can you download and import the file into RCT3 without it?

^You haven't been to Mrs. Knott's at KBF? Not sure if the quality has gone down since my visit in 2001 but it was actually quite good. ^^That's a shame since Gatekeeper is actually better at night. With the likes of MF, Dragster, and Maverick it doesn't surprise me that folks think it's kind of lame. I've heard similar when I rode X Flight at SFGAm two years ago.
