  1. I'm hoping that they will do something special for the ride station by actually theming it to tie in with the name instead of doing something sleek and modern. Boarding the train in a haunted mansion would be an ideal place for a banshee to roam. Silver and blue is quite striking on Afterburn and it would really look great on Kings Island's skyline. I'm a little tired of seeing a lot of CF coasters painted red.
  2. With the subtle changes of terrain elevation there may be more footers than what we are seeing right now from the Eiffel Tower. CF seems to like to go big so I'm exptecting this to be a ride of considerable size with at least six inversions if it is indeed an invert. Can't believe it's almost August and the first signs of Haunt are already being revealed. Where did the summer go?
  3. I'd be happy with a Frisbee, whether Huss or Zamperla's Giant Discovery like KW's Black Widow if the coaster is delayed a year.
  4. Very nice photos of a very nice looking park. Piraten is quite a photogenic coaster - loved the various angles you took of the ride. I also like the look of the pirate themed area.
  5. As for a dark ride why not the old Pirate Ride location? Would definitely help liven up the Blue Streak area.
  6. ^Same here. A ride similar to Talon or Carowinds' Afterburn and I wouldn't be disappointed.
  7. Which lift did the boat go backwards on? Of all the rides at CP I have not ridden StR, only dropped a few bucks water bombing riders, which has become one of my favorite things to do when I need a break.
  8. They can do both but the priority would be to get the new coaster built and ready by opening day. You may see a nearby restroom, food stand, or gift shop remodeled but that would be about it.
  9. I'm not trying to "dis" B&M as I love their coasters but the only way KI could get a game changer would be if this ride was an Intamin (305 comes to mind) or maybe even Gerstlauer (though they have yet to go BIG). Both companies would more than likely be willing to try something that would really be unique to this ride. B&M has only stayed to what works for them and has relied on the tried and true in their coasters. Nothing wrong with that but I'd like to see the company kick it up a notch on some of their designs. Since we know this will be a Beemer my hopes are for it to be an invert and please no cobra roll. Loved the batwing on Carowinds' Afterburn and would love to see more of those in B&M's designs.
  10. With many areas having a lack of shade I can't imagine being out there in 90+ degree heat. Be forewarned they are forcasting storms on Saturday that's finally going to break this stretch of heat we've been having.
  11. Unless the restaurant and the coaster are together as part of a mini-themed area in the park. If they decide to build by the lake it would be interesting to go underwater like Anaconda at Kings Dominion. The camping area is relatively large as it is and losing a few spots close to the park shouldn't hurt the camping area at all. Besides the area in question is wide open and close to Twister, Tin LIzzies and Viper anyway, a section that needs a few attractions to bolster the area up some.
  12. Thanks for the TR and the photos. I haven't been to either Stricker's or Coney so it was great to actually get an idea as to what those two parks look like. Those photos of Coney remind me of Americana/LeSourdesville Lake for some reason and too bad they couldn't have relocated the Screechin' Eagle instead of having Couch tear it down. That was a great wooden coaster.
  13. Before someone else says it - worlds' first wooden wing coaster Seriously we finally have something to start a good discussion. It sounds like Herschend was impressed with Outlaw Run that they may have contracted RMC for this though it looks like GG Timberliners on the track. It would be a bold ride to put in the park though I hope Lake Monster is just a name for the project and not the actual name they may be considering. I'm hoping this gets built as well. Would finally shut up the folks who continue to want Batman rebuilt. As for location I'm thinking the Galaxy Theater gets leveled to make way for the ride platform and the ride heads out into the campground.
  14. Ravine Flyer II @Waldameer a couple hours ago.
  15. Great report, Chuck, and nice photos. Glad the weather held out when you were there. When I rode Gatekeeper I waited in a line about as long as in the photo you posted and the wait wasn't bad, about 40 to 45 minutes. As for the two wing coasters I've been on my pick would be X Flight over GK as I think XF has better pacing. As much as I love GK I feel the airtime hill sort of throws off the pacing a bit IMO.
  16. Awesome Dodonpa POV. Do you still get that crazy airtime at the top of the hill? That is the one thing I remember most from my one ride on Hypersonic (well that and the insane launch from basically the base of the hill). I highly agree. Despite the not so impressive size of the ride compared to Dragster no other ride has as strong a launch as Hypersonic.
  17. Great photos! I envy your photographing skills. Thanks for posting. Even though I was there last year your photos have me thinking of going back up there again, especially after hearing how great backwards Viper is. I missed out on Bull night rides as I was completely worn out by evening; I should go back and make up for it.
  18. They're better off just replacing Eurpoe In The Air. An interactive dark ride where riders search for pots of gold and/or leprechauns would be a lot better ride than that simulator.
  19. They could always paint a middle finger on the side of the tunnel facing the offices.
  20. Niiiice!! Corkscrew ran with harnesses in the up position? Never saw that happen before. Thank you for sharing. Still miss the park a lot, especially on days when I want a quick coaster fix.
  21. As far as I know nothing is down. Everything, including Windseeker, was up and running when I was there a couple week's ago. Have a safe trip and a great time.
  22. Very cool photos of what seems like a forgotten park. Wonder if there was a rule that all three coasters had to be all white. ^Vekoma used Arrow trains back in the day until they started building their own therefore these were not from Cedar Point (CP's Corkscrew had three trains - one red, one white, one blue).
  23. ^ LOL, Wes. I didn't say it was great, just tolerable.
  24. After seeing the Gravity Max video I would love to see Vekoma take another look at their tilt coaster and reintroduce it to the market in the future. Maybe it was a ride before its time is why it didn't sell. Though I don't think Elissa would be happy about a tilt coaster with a drop 200+ feet. It seems the major consensus is their loopers get most of the bad rap which I think they've finally corrected with the new trains that have appeared on a couple of their boomerangs (Sidewinder and Carolina Cobra). Their mine trains and now the suspended family coasters seem to get positive reviews. Wouldn't Chance also be considered a budget option for parks especially now that they offer a hyper-lite to their portfolio? Vekoma could easily do the same and offer at least a hyper-lite that would cater to the small to mid-sized park market as it seems majority of the small to mid-sized parks have at least a boomerang.
