  1. Great stuff!
  2. I dunno--as soon as you get on, you just might wanna get off. Tatsu--sponsored by Viagra.
  3. I'll be changing planes in Vegas going to and coming from the East Coast over Christmas--just enough time to hit the slots in the terminal.
  4. Couldn't you just wrap some toilet paper around a squeegee?
  5. You might check over at miceage.com--Kevin Yee posted a review and some photos earlier this year, as I recall.
  6. I work at a nonprofit called the National Center for State Courts, which has the largest library of court-management-related material in the world.(I'm sure everybody here will be dying to check our stuff out.) Our librarians were so jazzed when they obtained their own Librarian action figure! We were all "super shushed" to death!
  7. I'm not sure that becoming "out of date" will be much of an issue with these changes--just another new piece of pirate lore. Now if the sequels are duds, the biggest problem would be the embarrassment of having characters from a failed movie as an integral part of the ride. Losing some of the ride's original music and another Paul Frees performance does give me some pause, but these aren't serious concerns.
  8. You know, most IM conversations are of the "you had to be there" quality.
  9. Or better yet, the actor who assumed the role for "The Five Doctors" episode (his name escapes me at the moment).
  10. Monkey, not all of us Texans are "slow on the draw" like King G Dummy The Lesser Many of us are (including myself) have culture and appreciate the world outside our borders:D Now, if you were a true Dr. Who geek, you'd use Jon Pertwee or Patrick Troughton as your avatar.
  11. Sounds like that ep. of south park, with the "Line Simulator" As long as it's not the "John Denver Experience." I have the Blackbeard action figure, myself.
  12. O-o-o-o . . .Nutella . . . o-o-o-o
  13. Nice graphic, indeed.
  14. I've seen the Male Nurse Action Figure before. There's a funky music-store chain in Virignia called Plan 9 that sells a bunch of weird action figures, such as Einstein, Edgar Allan Poe, and even the Librarian (with "super shushing action"). I think Disney is missing a bet here. Why not take advantage of the the average coaster enthusiast's (CE's) infatuation with dirt? I propose "Disney's Unfinished Adventure" as a third gate for Anaheim. For a mere $40, CEs with cameras can amble about and take picutures of various piles of dirt, pieces of track, stacks of wall board--all sorts of construction materials and equipment. CMs could move this material around every week, leading to all sorts of online speculation: "Hey, is that B&M track? And what's with this new ditch? Perhaps they're finally going to build the 'Western Rivers Expedition!'" Heck, they could even scatter around old Rocket Rods and Peoplemover cars and really give the folks on theme-park boards some fodder for dissection and discussion. "Remember, Disney's Unfinished Adventure will never be finished. Really." Chuck "I'm gonna start piling dirt in fron of my house and charging admission" Campbell
  15. Big Bill Shatner had quite a struggle with his waistline when he was younger. For example, in the original Star Trek, he would be in pretty good shape during the early episodes, put on a few pounds halfway through the season, then shed the weight by the time shooting for the season ended. My best wishes to anyone struggling with a volatile waistline. My best advice? Don't beat yourself up over it.
  16. If they fix it there, they gotta send that fix to all the other Disney boat rides like it. I still have nightmares being stuck in the "Snow Blind room" of Small World for a half an hour. Try riding Small World after a spin on the Tea Cups sometime--between the slight rocking of the boat and the repetition of that song . . . Bad things, man!
  17. Considering that movie was a 40-megaton bomb, not bloody likely. Welll.....you never know. One of the things that came out during that time was the Jennifer Tilly had in her contract that, if the movie recouped it's costs, then she would be inserted into the ride as Madam Leota. But, I agree, seeing the movie tanked, I doubt that will happen. Also, I don't know if it's true at all, so that doesn't hurt either. In terms of the Pirates thing, who knows. I felt a little weird about it at first, but maybe it'll be for the best. As long as it keep changing after this. Pirates is timeless for a reason, because it wasn't associated to anything. Once it becomes associated with something, it gets caught in a trap of being old or out of date. That's the one thing that worries me. I remember Jennifer Tilly saying something to that effect. Well, as long as they keep "Chucky" off the ride . . .
  18. Interesting poll so far--absolutely no one is "neutral." I in the "somewhat favorable" category--and I'll definitely want to check out the results. I was lurking around the "Micechat" boards, and there are some pretty strong feelings about this there--leaning toward "oh, God in heaven, no!" Well, thar be good and bad, mates. The only strong concern in this old swab is losing yet another Paul Frees voice performance--he was one of the best (right up there with Mel Blanc). His voice will still be there (just not in the ship battle scene). And I wonder if Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush will give their voices to the Sparrow and Barbossa AAs?
  19. He is a rather polarizing figure among the hard-core Disneyites. For my part, I think he oftens comes up with interesting stuff, but his writing style is a bit repetitive and irritating--his often snarky, often irrelevant asides, for example, and his tendency to beat the same points into the ground, week after week. But this poll and thread aren't meant to be about Al Lutz--just Disney's plan to change POTC.
  20. Considering that movie was a 40-megaton bomb, not bloody likely.
  21. Actually, Disney has a tradition of updating or "plussing" old attractions--the Jungle Cruise is a good example. All I ask is do it right and don't go cheap.
  22. It seems that the "extreme makeover" of DL's classic Pirates of the Caribbean is a go, according to Al Lutz at Miceage.com. You can read all about it here, but beware mates--thar be spoilers there!: http://miceage.com/allutz/al110805a.htm . Properly warned be ye, sez I! According to Lutz, Jack Sparrow and Barbossa AAs will be joining the other pirates, as will the voice of Davy Jones. The rehab also calls for upgrading the sound and ride effects. While the city-burning show scene will reamain largely unchanged, WDI will be adding Sparrow to some other scenes, and Barbossa will be commanding the Wicked Wench (which will be turned into, of course, the Black Pearl). WDW's version will receive similar treatment. These additions will tie into the next two POTC flicks. So, cast yer votes, swabs!
  23. Hmm--just like Homer Simpson and Mr. Sparkle . . .
  24. "Ive seen detergents that leave a better film than this!"
  25. I see that--and raise you the Wacky Soap Box Racers.
