  1. I think this sums up some of the last few posts pretty well.
  2. You do in China! I've seen cats at Knott's and at SFNE! Disneyland has quite a few feral cats, too--and Kings Dominion has its share of skunks, and Busch Gardens Williamsburg of deer. Kings Dominion has fearless squirrels that think they're pets as well. Last time I was there, eating lunch out by Hurler, I dropped a french fry on my shoe, and a squirrel rushes out from under a bush and over to me to start eating it. It didn't even steal it to eat it anywhere else, it just sat next to my shoe and ate off it like its own little dinner table. I even reached down toward it like I was going to touch it (wasn't actually going to, I'd rather not get bitten by wild animals) to see how it would react and it just looked up at my hand like a dog expecting petting. Was cute enough to make me tempted to try, but caution got the better of me. Speaking of "fearless squirrels," I remember taking pictures for a construction update of Busch Gardens' Griffon back in July 2006, when the work site was just walls, rebar, heavy equipment, and rubble. A trash can near the France skyway station started shaking wildly, and out popped a squirrel with what had to be the biggest prize he'd ever found--half a waffle cone. He got a look at me and took off, but I snagged a picture of the little scrounger. That was one happy rodent.
  3. One of the numbers would be "Gollum Goes Gangnam Style" when he bites off Frodo's finger in the big climatic scene.
  4. ^Hey, Gollum sings all sorts of little ditties in those movies and in the novel. "Gollum: The Musical" is a natural idea!
  5. Yes, the redhead looks as though she's achieved nirvana or some other state of bliss.
  6. My bottom three woodies are all so bad that it may as well be a tie: Son of Beast, Bandit, and Anaconda. This will probably be the last year I even include SOB on my ballot since they've torn it down.
  7. Or they may like it just because think it's a damn good ride--as I do. You're entitled to your opinion, but you might want to be careful about making broad statements like this. And if you'd prefer to ride Woodstick Express to something like Cheetah Hunt, knock yourself out.
  8. We have a whole thread devoted to onride filming in the "Ask Alvey" section of the forum: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17014. You might want to review the discussion there (some of it involves GoPro cameras. In general, the answer is "no." So, there is no need for this thread.
  9. They should have an audience participation game show: "Riddles in the Dark with Gollum." Winners get to leave when the show's over, while Gollum gets to eat the losers.
  10. The only park I've ever noticed from the air was Disneyland.
  11. Don't forget a Dwarf Toss (hey, it's in the movie).
  12. ^I'm sure Coke is some sort of magical elixir that all the elves drink. Hell, Moses drank coke!
  13. I had it on the poll I used. It was on my ballot, too. It was abbreviated as "Grt Am Scrm Mach." Maybe you just overlooked it?
  14. My thoughts? The rumor is bullcrap. The existing relationship between WB and the Tolkein family is terrible. J.R.R. sold the film and merchandise rights to Saul Zaentz in 1969, so the family had no say in any of the films. Christopher Tolkien said that the films eviscerated the book and hated the resulting commercialization. On top of that, the Tolkien Trust sued New Line Cinema (now part of WB) for breach of contract and fraud over the Lord of the ringy dingy ding-a-ling dings movies. I know I'm shocked when a film becomes a huge hit and is "commercialized." These kinds of complaints are usually about wanting a bigger piece of the pie more than any artistic concerns. Hell, Dr. Seuss's widow couldn't wait to cash in.
  15. I like Flight Deck, so I hope it's around for at least a few more years.
  16. Nice, although I'd argue that a Batman clone is never out of place. It's just so odd to see such a nice, expensive B&M invert at a small park like this.
  17. I think it was this year for me, thanks to TPR's China Trip--more than 90 new credits.
  18. ^Regardless of which one came first, the log ride is still the best attraction at Knott's and much better than the flume at Six Flags over Texas. Good to see that they're giving it an overhaul.
  19. Exactly--Busch Gardens Williamsburg used the same promotion strategy with Verbolten, and very few people left that ride disappointed. I like a nice balance of attractions, too.
  20. ^Comparing Cheetah Hunt to Woodstock Express? Seriously? A better comparison would be Cheetah Hunt v. Powder Keg, as both are "family-style" launched coasters. I could understand comparing it to Flight of Fear, as well, but to three kiddie coasters?
  21. ^Try reading online comments sections for newspaper sites. Those are intellectual leper colonies.
