  1. I like how they're theming the station. Looks better than the standard Cedar Fair "warehouse" motif.
  2. Pretty sure you and Joey are the reason Where's the Fire is gone! Ah, yes . . . what memories! I'm glad that Leave a Legacy is being moved. While I was never a fan of that "monument," I recognize that people paid to be a part of it, and that it should remain in some form (just somewhere else). The new pavilion sounds like fun, too.
  3. Wow--an already amazing looking park looks even more, well, amazing!
  4. Maybe the motorcycle seat is reserved for Hagrid.
  5. Yep--it was very good ride when I last visited Dollywood, but I understand that it's gone downhill (pardon the pun) since then. Wildwood Grove is coming along nicely.
  6. Bullet Coaster--Happy Valley Shenzen
  7. The best rides at the Universal resort are Spider-Man, Men in Black, and Mummy, but I also like Rip, Ride 'n' Rockit, and was pleasantly surprised when I rode Hulk last fall (first time for me since the rebuild). As for the screen-based stuff, Fallon and Fast & Furious don't interest me at all, but I enjoyed Kong: Skull Island.
  8. They should get a chiropractic clinic to sponsor that ride.
  9. I like Screamin' Swings--one of the few flat rides I enjoy. I'm also happy that they're painting Apollo's Chariot. From the BGW president's Twitter.
  10. You can say the same thing about a school bully who beats you up everyday during lunch: "Boy, that hurt, but at least he's reliable." Getting back on topic, I'll miss Volcano. It was unique, if problematic.
  11. There's a little outdoor bar in Candy Apple Grove near Windseeker that serves cocktails, wine, and beer. KD has their own line of beer brewed by Center of the Universe Brewery in nearby Ashland.
  12. I didn't care for it as Ninja, but I'm willing to give it a shot as Blue Hawk.
  13. I'm not Robb but I visited him quite often from 2001 and started riding Volcano and made sure to ride it on every visit after! I never remember any 'roughness' on it, and it always took my breath away with those launches. I also think it used to have way more down time (late 90's early '00's) and had been doing better up until last season when it was down the majority of the year. Sad to see it go. Speaking as a "local," I agree with this. Volcano was always a smooth, fun ride (with intense launches), and I'm glad that I got a chance to ride it again last spring before they shut it down for good.
  14. While this announcement is sad, it isn't very surprising. I think the law of diminishing returns finally caught up with Volcano. I'll miss this unique coaster, which I always had to ride first thing in the morning before the days of Fast Lane Plus. Those two launches were incredible.
  15. A steal at $375,000! Doesn't look like it would be a pleasant ride, though.
  16. I can understand why KT is interested. The theming sounds pretty cool (leave it to DisneySea).
  17. As a former resident of the San Joaquin Valley, I can vouch for this statement regarding I-5. As for hotels, the Anaheim Howard Johnson's is surprisingly good, and just across the street from the Disneyland Resort.
  18. I like the Edna Mode meet-and-greet. She's quite a scene stealer in the Incredibles movies.
  19. All hail the Beef Wellington and the Panna Cotta!
  20. Indeed! I'm planning to go back there this spring with my brother, my niece, and her boyfriend.
  21. Yeah, City Museum is not a good fit for the lawyers of any corporation.
  22. Moving right along . . . “Hi! Show going on over here! Watch us dance! Hello?” They did a nice job sprucing up the beach by the Hotel Breakers. Thumbs up, Hotel Breakers! I was a bit confused by the “Silent Disco.” So, people listen to music on headphones while having a drug-free rave? Is that it? (Personally, I think the best disco music is silent disco music.) Dragster through the buildings! You’re welcome. As clunky and rough as it is, I have a soft spot for Magnum. I think it’s on my right thigh, or perhaps on one of my shattered kneecaps. Magnum doesn’t have “airtime” as much as it has “throw time”; that is, you’re violently thrown out of your seat at certain times as the train lurches about. We spent some time hanging out in front of our cabin, drinking a beer and enjoying the view. Sandusky looks better from a distance. Besides, Lusty Lil’s was booked up that day. Still the park's main star. I think it’s just crazy enough for my tastes. Word has it here in Frontier Town that this feller Stillman is not what he appears to be. Folks say that he also goes by the name of “Heisenberg,” and that he and Maverick have been in cahoots to peddle illegal “Crystal Rock” . . . . . . by smuggling it to Albuquerque in emu eggs. ‘Course, that’s just a rumor. Or a TV series on AMC. People often get ‘em mixed up. It's all that there binge watching. OK, I’m going to admit something. I like posting pictures of Maverick. This is a problem I’m grappling with. So here’s the last one. By George, I think Larry has discovered something. ("George! Did you see that?") OMG! RMC is going to make over Mean Streak . . . wait a minute. As you can tell, I am totally riding Gemini in this photo. I like Cedar Point’s museum. It’s good that the park has a sense of its history. Here’s where “Heisenberg” and Maverick deal their “Crystal Rock.” I did ride Gemini during this visit. It was a bit painful. Time for some night shots. Twilight becomes Steel Vengeance. The sign looks even more threatening after dark. Corkscrew looks so pretty you almost want to ride it. Almost. Linus is an eight o’clock kind of person. Having ridden both Mantis and Rougarou, I can say conclusively that both versions suck equally. Millennium Force looks particularly cool at night . . . . . . as does the park’s fort. All good things come to an end . . . . . . but at least LaGuardia had this Biergarten and this nice soup and pretzel bread. Thanks for reading.
