I'm trying to figure out what I think of this coaster. I mean, it looks like a very solid addition, but I'm just not excited about it. I guess it is hard to be excited with all the other great coasters being built in the US this year. The only thing I can't wrap my head around is the backwards launch. I think it will kill the momentum of the ride experience. I'd rather see a rolling launch, but that is just me. However, when I saw the backwards launch in the video I literally LOL'd because it reminded me of the Gatekeeper video.

Man, hopefully someday I'll have the financial ability to go on a TPR China tour. Right now I can only afford "Chinese Knock-Off." This park looks beautiful, great photos Erik. -

^^ What he said, but Leviathan is a people eater. It can go through a full queue pretty quick. I wouldn't worry too much about it. -

I shake my head every time that commercial comes on. There is a reason I haven't been to Sea World in years. Rumors of the horrible conditions have been around for years. I vaguely remember being sent petitions and a few of my friends protested earlier this summer. I'm not sure what can be done to save Marineland. It is going to take new management and a lost of money to fix that place. -

I doubt anyone on the forum is serious about it going backwards... The CP Facebook Page well, some people on there may be ignorant enough to believe that. But don't worry, nobody here believes it goes backwards. -

I for one am glad people are poo pooing the ride before it is even built. Hopefully they will not even bother getting in line. This coaster looks beautiful, especially compared to the giant duro shed that was disaster transport. I think the coolest thing will be the effect this has on people entering the park. I know if I choose to use the front entrance this will get me amped up! -

I feel like NTAG was a proof of concept. A test if you will, to see how far this technology can go. It passed that test. The issue with Maverick was the speed it was taking the in line twist. I'm assuming that this should will take the double roll at a much slower rate. And because it is at the end of the ride, if it does have issues they can always trim it. I'm willing get to bet it will be fine though. -

This "competition" has always seemed pointless as they are not really in the same markets. -

Takabisha at Fuji-Q always looked odd to me, in a good way I guess. Especially that banana inversion.

Just downloaded and watched the first episode. All I can say is that it is very GP friendly, but there are some bits and pieces for real coaster enthusiasts too. They should have more commentary from Robb. He does a great job of explaining the elements of a coaster in a way that appeals to almost everybody. GP and enthusiast alike.

5'10" here. And have never had an issue with Maverick. It must be a height thing. -
Most unique/noteworthy roller coasters
DougMJr replied to thenumerator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Obviously you'll have to talk about the beginning of roller coasters. The ice slides of Russia, scenic railways, ect. Olympia Looping always seemed like a noteworthy coaster to me. It is probably the most famous of the traveling coasters out there. While on the topic of traveling coasters you can talk about Euro Star, that painful yet unique intamin suspended coaster that traveled around for a while. -

There is a certain ride experience a wooden coaster can give that a steel one can't. A wooden coaster can give a sense of speed, especially while crossing through the wood structure of the coaster. I think flying through the structure, especially during the inversions, will be a great ride experience.
