Indian Point Ballpark [RCT2]
SoCalCoasters replied to RCT2day's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'm sorry, I seem to have dropped my jaw on the floor, would you mind picking it up? Absolutely stunning and imaginative! This is Truly worthy of being called one of the greatest RCT2 projects ever. -
This is a project I started a few weeks back, but never had the time to resize the photos until today so here it is. After constantly hearing all the whining and complaining about the game's scenery, I decided to create a project with a much detail and skill as many great CS parks, but with NO hacks, NO cheats (including the path/scenery intersection cheat) and NO custom content. SO all those who doubt what you can do without CS, may I present a counter arguement. This is an absolutely massive project packed to the gills with detail. When I release a download I encourage you to go through the park as the pictures just don't do it justice. Shot0649 (Copy).bmp Starting out small, the Citadel was a quaint little thing. But that's not impressive. What comes next.... Shot0651 (Copy).bmp Is a bit more grand...but... Shot0650 (Copy).bmp it's not THAT great right? I mean, it's just lit up. Shot0654 (Copy).bmp Then I hope you like the new suspended monorail system that runs under the pedestrian bridges between the two other towers. I know, it's just a monorail. Shot0655 (Copy).bmp Still looks cool at night. Shot0657 (Copy).bmp Here's the main monorail station inside the main tower. But those who are NCS skeptics are probably thinking: Where's all this detail he promised us? I could so do this in CS and make it 100x better. Shot0662 (Copy).bmp I will have to apologize though, it appears as if the East Tower won't be ready when the download is released, I'm so terribly sorry. Shot0665 (Copy).bmp At least there's all this wonderful construction to look at. Shot0665 (Copy).bmp But hey! The monorail still runs through the tower. You an see how the work looks from the inside! Shot0663 (Copy).bmp I'll leave you with this last shot of the Citadel.

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
SoCalCoasters replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Wow, if the actual ride turns out anything like that video it'll definitely take the crown for best coaster at Alton, or maybe tie for best coaster since Nemisis is there. -

Marine World [RCT3]
SoCalCoasters replied to tiger01's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I think the Intamin looks fine. The park itself looks good, I think the aquarium could be revised a bit to prevent the rock face from showing. -
^But things like the Spidey facade can be more than just one level of depth. Look at the entrance to the one in Orlando and Japan, yes, there is a building, but's a lot more than just a face, it has several levels of detail. I never said in my post that your park was plain, I said it looked disorganized with several areas and attractions not being integrated into their surrounding areas. The giant frisbee does not look like it belongs, stuck out on the edge of the lake with no theming. The hyper is using both in game and custom supports, and they don't mix well. I'm not sure if that was a finished shot, but you should either use all custom supports or no custom supports. Use Gadget's Utilities and use the support killer in that set, as it work much better than the one used in Steelworx. Just because buildings are large and plain doesn't mean that they have to look bad. Plain buildings can still be very appeasing to the eye if done properly. All I'm saying is I'm seeing box after box with no real differentiation. But currently many of the buildings look meh, especially near Rockit. Sorry if I sounded a bit rude, I just want to help make this park better, and fixing some of these will make people go from: huh to WOW.

32 Seconds of Airtime Max -2.55 Gs Ride the way it was meant to be ridden. Ghostrider: Vengeance Shot0669 (Copy).bmp -
Eh, it's looking very jumbled and mis-matched in many places. Several of the rides seem to just be thrown in with little theme or purpose (the Giant Frisbee). Others seem to be relatively low in detail, such as the Spidey Facade. Make sure to use custom supports for you coasters, as the in-game ones can be quite the eyesore in a CS park.

Best And Worst Coaster In California
SoCalCoasters replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Umm... Come down to San Diego and ride the SD Giant Dipper before saying that. I've been on every wooden coaster in California, and currently here's how they stack up: Best Wooden: Ghostrider and Apocalypse because of their out of control and airtime delivering rides. Worst Wooden: Grizzly and SD Giant Dipper, mainly because of those God-awful Morgan Wooden trains...they just don't ride track well. Best Steel: X2 or Tatsu because of their overall impressive ride experiences. Hi Miler can be considered a close second because no coaster comes close to delivering the insane, out of control, ejector airtime experience that thing had. Worst Steel: Tough one... but probably Kong. I still like the ride, but it is the worst experience in CA. -
Fun & Strange Facts about Parks.
SoCalCoasters replied to galindoverhere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Legoland Facts: In any of the Legoland parks, if you see a Lego Bunny Holding a Chainsaw by a particular attraction/area, that means the area in question is going to be changed. (See Spellbreaker in TPR index) Miniland's defunct New England Harbor area lives on inside the Lego Factory Tour, as many of the park figures retired there when the areas was razed for Los Vegas. Sad too considering the Harbor was the star of Miniland. The Dragon at Legoland CA no longer runs three trains because slow moving guests in the station would cause the third train the stop on the lift because the brake run had another train already on it. When the train stopped, idiot GP were trying to leave the ride vehicles. The Upper Deck Cafe in Imagination Zone does not fit the theming, because the original attraction/land it went with closed due to low attendance and high costs. The area was a sports activity place and Land Of Adventure now sits on the plot of land. You could not originally get to Castle Hill through Imagination Zone. A pathway was not built until somewhere in the Early 2000s. The Legoland Showplace Theater (4D Cinema) used to also be used for live Christmas shows during Christmas time. While not a secret, SpellBREAKER sucked, and was the first attraction to be removed from the park. Here's one of the more infamous days I think management hopes to forget: Due to no prior testing, when the Soak and Sail area of Pirate Shores opened on June 6 2006 (I believe that was the date), they didn't realize the concrete had been improperly surfaced and caused massive amounts of slipping. The log ride did not open for another 6 months or so due to a part not working/having to be reordered. The Coast Cruise used to have water cannons right before and after the Lion's Bridge that could be set off by guests. The entrance to the Sky Cruiser used to be at the bottom of the Hill by Miniland, and when it was moved, the area of the park was, and to this day still is, completely abandoned. The new entrance replaced a Maze, and reused many of the maze walls for the new queue. Dino Island did not open on time. The model builder viewing area in Miniland used to have a "Lego Art" attraction on the roof that also gave fantastic view of Miniland. It was removed late 2010 and has only been used as a VIP area during the Star Wars Miniland opening since then. The Dune Racer slides had to be slowed down because kids were going down them too fast and nearly flying off at the end. Three noticeable "effects" seem to have been permanently removed from Legoland. The Spike Wall on Lost Kingdom no longer slides toward you, Knights Tournament no longer has water cannons and the rocking Chandelier with the sword wielding Knight is completely gone on Dragon. I have dozens more that I'll probably think of later. -

This may be wishful thinking, but wasn't it mentioned that B&M might have out some kind of slight rotation feature into the seats? Based on those pictures it looks like the car theming is separate from the actual arm to the cars...and it almost looks like it could lean back a bit? May be just me seeing things. -
TPR Front Page RE-Design Contest!
SoCalCoasters replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One thing I would really like to see in the new main menu, is more love for the Games Forum, the last time a project was feature on the main menu, it was CD5's Six Flags South Carolina. Maybe some kind of an idea like Gumball's screen swap, but have one of the how many slides be games related with a single screen to make people go: Woah! -clicky- I think it would sort of give the games forum a little more prominence without disrupting the new layout. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Love or hate? -

SFDK already has a small drop tower! I was more referring to a 80' to 150' drop tower, not a frog hopper. sar·casm/ˈsärˌkazəm/Noun: The use of irony to mock or convey contempt. -
The height restriction was in effect long before the original Marine World opened there. V2 opened, and I guess they somehow fudged the paperwork? Not sure quite how, but it was too high. When word got out that they broke the law, they quickly hurried to fix the issue. They chopped the back spike off at 150ft, then removed the twisting forward spike. They took the pieces of track from the original ride, and re-used them in the new slanted spike. The twist is actually the same one from the original ride, with the angle modified. I'm sure that not all the track pieces were old, but they did re-use many of them.

Here's what I've heard over the past few years about what happened with the flyer, this may or may not be true. Around 06-07, the idea arose to have a very large flying coaster be installed at the park in the concrete slab/go kart/ other land near the front of the park. While not on the scale of Tatsu, it was supposed to be custom, and quite immense. It was also at this time that it really became evident that the name "Marine World" no longer fit the park, seeing as it had evolved into a park with more than just seafaring creatures. The park, which, in many people's opinions at that time was becoming a bit outdated and run down wasn't cutting it. Overall, the park was not performing well in terms of overall guest satisfaction. I recall that time being not so great in the park's history. So multiple solutions were created to combat the growing problem. The way things played out, it sounded like the flyer was the prominent choice at first, and almost happened. Then, the other project was proposed: The re-naming, and re-branding of the park that not only changed the name, but upgraded the park as a whole. Marketing, upgrades, and other costs equalled the price of the proposed flyer, and was more likely to yield better results in terms of guest satisfaction. So the flyer was tossed out in favor of the park revitalization. Smart move in my opinion. Once again, take that with a grain of salt as I can't confirm it's all true.
