West Coast Bash Part One! Without further ado I present to you all the Magic Mountain Day fo West Coast Bash! Both days were extremely awesome and I had a great time. Huge thanks to Robb and the Parks for making this event happen! A shot of the sun rising as we drive towards Magic Mountain. It's very early, but it's worth every second! Sun's up. And so are my spirits! As we drive up to the park we're greeted by this beautiful monster! X2 is an extremely photogenic ride. And being a coaster nerd with a nice camera I did what any coaster nerd with a nice camera would do and I took several millions pictures. Goliath off in the distance. It was giving some pretty decent rides during ERT. In case you you forgot where you weren't. Superman: Escape from Krypton will not be operating today due to a shift in the staircase. More X2 shots. I'm sure you prefer X2 shots to X shots. I honestly liked the Pink-n-Yellow scheme, but the new colors do complement on another in a much nicer manner. So when are we getting X3? Xtreme to the cube power? Is everybody in? Raven Turn looking as evil as ever. I like this shot except for the lamp. Lamps ruin 90% of my X2 photos Revolution sulking in the trees while Tatsu stands over it. I approve of X2! I do not however approve of the camera skills possessed by the taker of this photograph. Uber close up of Arrow Dynamic's crowni-erm...bankrupting creation. But enough about X2. Now that the parking lot opened, we could proceed to the entrance to begin. Hey! A picture of Collosus without Goliath! Who'da thought? Scream!? More like yawn. Older Arrow love! After seeing this in Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 it became my favorite coaster as a child I couldn't wait to ride it. Then I rode it. Several Advil later I swore I would never ride it again. Spring Better mean this afternoon! Viper does have a nice location and nice looking layout. However it rides like being inside a trashcan being thrown down a rocky cliffside into water filled with ravenous dinocrocs. Because no one has this picture. Seriously. I bet no one has this photograph. We made it! Huzzah! Gertrude as out in full force with all her friends. We can't have straws because of them. Ace of Spades and friends will be joining me at SFMM today! Who's ready for ERT? Heading into the park. First stop: Goliath! It ran pretty well. Smooth as glass per usual rides. Is it just me, or does this sign match the ride in the background more than the ride in the foreground? Ah Green Lantern. You look so nice but ride not so much. Superman isn't very super today. Ride logo. Hal Jordan please save us from this ride! Looking up towards the only comfortable part of the ride. Riddle me this: What's Large, Green, Open of ERT, and has bad capacity? Green Lantern of Course! In all seriousness I did like Green lantern. I have to applaud Six Flags on the theming as it was definitely one of their better jobs. However, the ride experience just didn't deliver what I was hoping, and after getting serious whiplash-to-ribcracking-vertical stop and being stuck on it for around 40 minutes later in the day, I pretty much gave up on it. Curvy One of the many vict- erm passangers who were standed on the ride for an extended period of time. I did have a few good rides on it. Wait? Why am I here and not on that completely empty Batman train? Somewhere in Cyberspace, there is an extremely creepy other photo of this. Green lantern now has additional covering over the Spiral design... SO um yeah, that's Green Lantern. Will this ride live long enough to see itself become a villan? Entering Gotham Park This is how awesome West Coast Bash is! Serene lifthill.. Batman provided me with some of the best photos I've ever taken. Loop-de-Loop Danananananananana Riddler! Danananananana Batman! 2 inversions: 1 shot The caped crusader Isn't anywhere to be seen Warning: being an idiot and ignoring this sign may result in the loss of body parts. But hey, that hat cost $30! Lift Defunct photos Ride profile A wild train appeared! Coaster Enthusiast used Camera! Train uses loop attack! It's super effective! Coaster enthusiast uses camera. The attack missed! The Wild train is attempting to flee! The Wild Train Fled! Superman: Escape from Staircases Bye Green lantern! This concludes part One of Magic Moutain! Part 2 Coming Soon!

TimbukTower? At least we know it'll be more reliable than Timber Tower. Looks like a great new addition to the park! Loved the whole place when I went this past summer. Montu, Kumba and ShieKra all landed top ten positions in my coaster list, and there was just so much in the park! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the rather odd park layout... Looking forward to seeing this rock the park's skyline in 2013!

It seems that it took so long to build Superman to make those squares in the concrete. Well, that answered my question on how they would do the footers. I know it would take a long time, but demolishing that whole concrete slab and replacing it with grass would be better. There is no way that demolishing that huge concrete plot would take less time and money than simply drilling for footers. They are keeping it for a reason. It's much simply to just drill a hole that cleave the whole slab.

-must resist uge to look up POV- This looks absolutely amazing! I was utterly wowed by Spiderman when I rode it this past summer for the first time! it's was so cohesive and smooth with some amazing visuals. I hope to get back to Orlando soon and ride this updated version, gotta see how it stacks up against the West Coast's Transformers when it opens!

I love how elegant, yet intimidating the trains look. GCI really has done a really great job theming their trains as of late. Troy, Apoc, Joris and now Wodan all have Greta looking trains! -
I saw Chronicle this afternoon, and absolutely loved it! Not only did it re-define a genre that at times can be stale with very unique camera views via telekenesis, but it had a very reliable high school experience substorms that I think probably caused it to be liked by the teenage crowd even more. Not to mention that the movie balanced out the CGI effects, comedy, and character progression pretty evenly, and had a pretty shocking conclusion that I think left many people stunned (myself included). Really great movie, probably the best movie in the "handheld camera" genre that I've seen. Top notch special effects, a great story, and some decent acting all made this my favorite movie of 2012 that I've seen so far.

I still have yet to figure out why Girls seem to completely ignore or push away from Nice Guys, yet throw themselves at a someonewhat "bad boy" who flirts with about 20 different girls simulatanioisly...and yet they still think this person truly loves them... Amen to that! I think in Freshman Year I had more genuine friends who were girls than guys...Although it's evened out my Sophomore year. I find dating causes so much drama that it's just not worth the effort. Our whole "group" has done some really awesome things in the past. Who wants to go to some regular old formal where you have to ask someone? We went Formal Bowling in Semi-Formal Wear! Probably one of the most fun nights ever, and it didn't require you to "have a relationship" with someone. Formal Bowling > Formal

I'm trying to figur out HOW to get into the area of the theme park industry I'm looking at... I'm extremely creative and a relatively talented self taught artist who loves attraction concept design. I'd really love to get a job in the industry doing themed entertainment and attraction design... I figure I'd need some kind of background in things like Lighting, Set Design, Art and Arcitecture...But anyone have any insight on where to go from here? I'm a very creative person and I feel this would be the best possible field for me to go into...but I can't think of any way to approach it...is anyone capable on giving me some insight?

Yes, made a knockoff Egyptian themed Montu Invert. Would Dick Kinzel make a good United States president?

Let's not get in to this conversation about Disneyland "needing" a new ride the same year that Cars Land is opening. Investing in one more E-Ticket isn't going to do much for the crowds when it all comes down to it. It also doesn't really make sense for this to be a topic of conversation for Disneyland, because there's so many things to do already, and so many high capacity attractions already, that they don't need one so soon. Plus, look at the amount of money Disney Parks just spent on DCA to make all those improvments, about $1 Billion. So let's not get in to this. I didn't really word that correctly. What I meant was that I feel like the focus for the next big Resort Project should be focused back onto Disneyland... Yes I know crowds will always be an issue, but it seems like in recent years the park has become much busier and currently several areas of the park (most noticeably Tomorrowland) suffer from frequent overcrowding. It's come up time and time again, but could we see the re-invention of Star Tours be the first step towards fixing the "whoops we screwed up" Tomorrowland debacle that ruined the Rocket Jets and People Mover? I know I'm far from the only person who wants to see something big happen to Tomorrowland, especially in it's current state. Innoventions is a total joke and could probably be turned into a new attraction with not much disturbance to park operations. People Mover is an odd case...it's the lifeblood of Tomorrowland that currently isn't flowing. In any case, does a more futuristic Tomorrowland makeover seem possible in the somewhat near future? Seeing as how well TR0N: Legacy did overall I still think some kind of a Lightcycle attraction, even with minimal Tron theming could be a huge hit.

^As far as those shots go, I'm not really a fan. They're just too blurred for my liking. I really love getting different and odd angles for my shots... Here's some decent shots I took during West Coast Bash: Drive to the Mountain (There's just so much in this shot!) Batman (New Favorite Picture I've taken) Tatsu (Love the angle) Supreme Scream (Hard to get just this ride in a shot) You can't normally get this shot, even during a WCB tour. Windseeker seeking wind.

Figures... I'm still waiting for DL to open another extremely high capacity ride...It seems like the park could use one more major E-Ticket to keep the crowds in check...although, many could argue that this would only INCREASE crowds but...I feel like Disneyland hasn't had a truly NEW attraction that wasn't a revitalization or remake since Buzz Lightyear...almost 7 years ago. That's not to say they haven't added anything at all, but that was the last time a completely original attraction was designed and built, even if it was using exsisting space.

PortAventura Discussion Thread

Looking good! I'm still curious to know their reasoning for placing it within and around Khan so haphazardly in a sense... It seems like the hyper could have been integrated into the area with a bit more elegance as to not ruin the domination appearance of Khan... I feel like the hyper really detracts from it... Edit: Post 1,500 -
Doesn't sound good...although it could be that someone just left it there out of the way to keep it from being stolen. However the location of it seems a biot odd so I don't blame them for being over-cautious. As for the record attendance...I heard that they had an insanely high amount of merchendise sold? To me it sounds like the event could be a serious profit maker in the future if Disney plans it a bit better.

Age restrictions on rides?
SoCalCoasters replied to andre8's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only time I think attractions should have an age restriction is haunts. While yes, I understand younger children may not be afraid of mazes or monsters, I'm sick and tired of seeing parents with freaking strollers going through haunt mazes with their 2-3 year olds. That's just not appropriate parenal behavior.
