Official RCT3 Help Thread

You don't open the ".ovl" files. Those are the actual models and other coding used in the game. You place the folder with the .ovl files into their allotted location; it's usually specified in a read me most CS creators put in their downloads -
Starting to get back into my 3DS again...almost through Super Mario 3D Land...definitely one of the easier games in the franchise...then again, it would take one hell of a game to get near the awesome yet insanely frustrating levels of Super Mario Galaxy on a handheld. I do like this game a lot, especially since each level has it's own little "theme" to it. Each level is distinctively different from one another. Still slogging through OoT3D and Mario Kart 7 is proving to be the best game in the Mario Franchise (besides Double Dash). Blue Shells have once again become ridiculously overpowered, and are an instant race changer. I went over to a friend's house yesterday and got all the way through Skyward Sword's Fire Temple...I dunno...after seeing overall Zelda franchise, and how surprisingly color/dark the way Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Track were done...I honestly wasn't a fan of Skyward Sword. Don't get me wrong, it does readily improve every major Zelda feature...but.. I dunno. It just didn't click for me. It felt too "happy" I guess is the word. WW, PH, and ST combined equal amounts out darkness, humor, and happiness. Skyward Sword felt like a "Disneyfied Fairytale". It's fun to watch, but there's all charm and no edge. Like they took out all the darker elements and replaced them with happiness. That's what I've always loved about the Zelda Franchise since I first played Ocarina of Time over a decade ago. It's always managed to keep happiness and a bit of edge... Plus they added several obnoxious over-complicating aspects I'd like to see them get rid of... I think it may be the art style that contributes to this...and as much as I loved the game...it was just too happy... Now I'm debating on whether or not to open my copy of the game (which I vowed not to open until I beat Twilight Princess). It's the special edition with the Golden Wiimote. I may just keep it a few years they sell it if the prices go up high enough. If not, eh, it's a collectible. I'm very much looking forward to see what Nintendo will do with the Wii U...graphic wise it had better blow us out of the waterX10 if it wants to get anywhere near the popularity the original Wii had.

Bell Gardens [RCT3]
SoCalCoasters replied to SoCalCoasters's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Here's a few more general park pictures. I've been working on this project for almost a year and a half now...that's probably the longest I've ever spent on something in my life. It's a great park, and I've been refining and updating it as I've been able to gain design skills. Needless to say, I am ineed trying to make this the best realistic, NCS, no cheat, no option txt. change park there ever has been. In my mind, I think I've accomplished a very good park with what the game gave us. It's a park like this that I think really shows what can be done with RCT3, or with any creative medium as long as you put your mind to it. I hope you've enjoyed the amount of time and effort I've put in to crafting this park. -Alexander Shot0779 (Copy).bmp Overview of the park. I still have to add peep friendliness to the back of the park (trash bins, lamps, benches etc. and I have to finish the hotel. Eh, loops are fine as long as they are well executed... I like this park, but there's a few glaring problems I'm seeing that majorly affect how I look at it. First off is the trees. It's a little late now, but whenever you do a park of this size, save a mixed palatte of trees and ground shrubs that are about 15 X 15 squares. Then just use this palatte to fill up you park with a nice variety of trees and make it look similar, but not just one or tree varieties spammed to no end, which is what I'm seeing here. Second thing is the overall atmosphere. While you've established all your attractions, they seem to be quite rough around the edges. When one looks at the park screens, they should be astetically pleasing. That doesn't mean you have to pour hours and hours into detail, but polishing attractions off can help bring a park together. I will say I very much enjoyed the coaster interaction between your wooden coaster and the B&M. That sort of overlapping isn't seen very often in-game.

Legoland California Discussion Thread
SoCalCoasters replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pirate Reef is an interesting attraction and will indeed be quite large. It connects the water park and the park and both water park and park guests will be able to ride it ala Pilgrim's Plunge at Holiday World. The ride is in a new area behind Pirate Shores and adjacent to the waterpark, and takes up a very decent sized plot of land. I wasn't able to go into the water park and get pics due to time constraints, but based on what I saw, this will be the largest new arttraction/area since either Land of Adventure or Pirate Shores. This attraction is long overdue, and I don't have to go all the way down to Sea World for a decent flume ride anymore. -

I'm very sorry to hear about all the negative feedback. It seems like this ride system could be much better utilized with other themes...at other Merlin parks... Th13teen => to Polar Xplorer Sub Terra => to ??? -

Great Dollywood Trip Report! I really love the look of Wikd Eagle! Being an Irish Dancer myself, that show doesn't look very good. Thank you for actually calling Irish Dancing. Dollywood's food also looks amazing...I definitely am going to try and find a time to get up there this year! -

How much is this thing going for? Maybe we should all chip in Desmond-style and bring this awesome attraction to the states. -
Oh my god. Please fix those supports! That is, no offense, some of the most horrendous supporting I've ever seen. You can pull off better using Jcat's Steelworx in ten minutes...seriously... A) No one should be here to impress anyone else. B) The NEW and IMPROVED version should have been the version you started the thread with. Put some effort into your work. I may rarely finish a project myself, but I put in a huge amount of effort every time I sit down and play. Agreed, this is zero progress. Come on Chris, I know you're capable of much better.

I HIGHLY doubt Pitt Fall is coming to BGT...this will be a new drop tower most likely. The reason Kennywood got ride of Pitt Fall in the first place was because it had too high of upkeep costs and was beginning to hit the end of its life span. Why on earth would BGT rebuild a 15+ year old drop tower when they could just call Intamin up for a new, higher capacity one, (gee) just like the one shown in the official renderings.

Eh, I honestly don't think that would be a good place for a Sky Swat. Some kind of shop or retail center would make more sense considering the extremely close proximity to the HUSS Jump 2 to this plot. Having two flat rides so close together would be a bit odd considering the somewhat spacious layout of this park thus forth.

Looks like another wingrider...the bat face in the bottom left corner of that picture looks like it resembles the swarm car from design? I dunno, the whole add sorta screams "wingrider"....
