That looks great! I like how long the banking extends before straightening out. That's gonna be a fun element. -
West Coast Bash 2012! TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
odene497 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Good thinking, I never think of Southwest as Buffalo isn't an airport I usually fly from. But if they run some good deals, the 2 hour drive would be worth it. Thanks for that idea! -
West Coast Bash 2012! TICKETS ON SALE NOW!
odene497 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Well, it gets a bit complicated as If I go, I'll be going to Arizona (Tucson) as well to see my brother, and they don't serve nearby. Their closest airport to me (JFK) would require additional transportation to and from, as I live upstate near Syracuse. I do appreciate the heads up though, I'll be checking out all my options! -
West Coast Bash 2012! TICKETS ON SALE NOW!

As much as I can't afford this...I think I'm gonna try. 2010 West Coast Bash was such an amazing time, I've been dying to go back. Flights just suck now (around 400-450), so I'm hoping there are some deals in the next month or so. -
Most. OverRated. Ride. of 2012.
odene497 replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think I'd be looking forward to SkyRush more if the simulation was a better quality. Once it's built and there's some testing footage I'm sure I'll be more excited for it, and hopefully will make it down for a ride. And that's one of the reasons I'm so excited for Leviathan, it's a gorgeous ride, and I know I'll get to try it out on most likely a few occasions next year. For overrated, I'll say Verbolten. It looks like it'll be "fun" (which is all I ask of a coaster), but not anything too crazy. And I realize it's not being marketed as that. But still. Even knowing Cheetah Hunt was meant as more a family coaster, I was still surprised by how tame it was. -

I've heard Behemoth is even more so I dunno, every time I've ridden Behemoth it's usually only the first trim that does anything. And it's not really enough to even feel it, you can just hear it. -

2011.. What was your highlight?
odene497 replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Each year seems to be getting harder to top. Texas Giant Bash. Huge Europe roadtrip/Riding Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping, and other awesome coasters I felt like I'd never get to. Finally doing all the major Florida parks (for the first time), without the intention of Disney (and I hadn't done anything Disney). But then we last minute had what was essentially a personal tour of all four parks. -

I think the general mix of small car/restraints you can just slide sideways out of if you tried/stopping when your feet touch the ground. I remember riding the one at Waldameer by myself on a really windy day and feeling the entire tower twist back and forth as I went up. I love the gruntingly powerful 10 feet of stop at the bottom. -

Awesome...easily the most terrifying drop towers. No matter how many times I ride the one at Waldameer I'm always still scared of it. -

But you can't deny those back seats are amazing...it's like a lawn chair on a platform. -
Europa Park Discussion Thread

Europa needs to stop being so freaking well-rounded. This coaster looks great. And already plans for a kiddie/family coaster. I could spend days here. -
I'm cool with more Harry Potter, I loved the books. I haven't read them since the release of the last one though, so I've forgotten quite a bit. I finally visited the one in Florida a few weeks ago, and honestly was a little underwhelmed. Maybe it was just really talked up. The overall atmosphere was cool, but I think more shops need to be open other than just facades. There were essentially three small stores and a restaurant. I was ready to be blown away by Forbidden Journey, but ended up liking Spider-Man better. One other thing, It'd be cool to have some more actors simply walking around and interacting with guests, or the workers keeping in some sort of character. The overall concept is good, and the buildings look really nice, but I don't think it's enough to be as big of a reason to visit as it is for many people now.

I actually loved the brutal airtime this had on the Deep South trip when it still had the buzz bars. And, honestly, thought the topper track on Cyclone at SFNE felt a little draggy. But, I'm sure this is ultimately a step in the right direction for this coaster, and riders can leave with ribs more intact.

Favorite Coaster Color Scheme
odene497 replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Agreed. Green was fine, but it looks like such an 80's badass Arrow coaster now. I really liked X's paint job. Same with that Dive Machine in China. Pink and Yellow are a unique combo for a coaster. -

I feel like the train type/roughness issue is more a variable dealing with maintenance. I thought Behemoth was great this past fall. Yet my last rides on Goliath at SFOG were insanely rattly and rough. However, if B&M said they'd prefer their more trusty old trains on a new ride like this vs. the "new trains," I guess there's something slightly off about them. -
I'm not sure if Thunderation still runs backwards cars (I feel like I read somewhere they aren't anymore...), but if it does, grab one of those for your first ride. It's really cool. Also, Wildfire's drop is pretty steep, try out the back for some great air. Powder Keg is just awesome all over. And yes, eat lots and lots.

^ I was wondering the same thing. It doesn't look like the track can run along there, but after the mention of them trying to keep them all... -
What are you most excited for in 2012?
odene497 replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm really looking forward to Leviathan. Granted, it's not at the super amazing Darien Lake, but close enough for a few visits next year. Same with Sky Rush, I haven't been to Hershey since 2008 so I'm looking forward to a trip down there. Other than those more local endeavors, I'm beyond excited to go to a ton of random parks and explore major cities in China with TPR. -

For some reason it still doesn't look like it's going to be 300 feet. Maybe because the lift doesn't seem as steep as Millenium Force or I305. Can't wait to see the drop finished, as I'm sure that'll put everything into perspective.
