  1. ^Those didn't bother me so much. I dislike what Bizarro has now, the shape of the pad and how it fits on your lap makes airtime painful. I'm fine with this having OTSRs, just preferably the more flexible type over the more solid material.
  2. These are really beautiful! Love the "Balder at night" photos.
  3. Looks like a blast! And yes, that towel puppet is questionable. I thought it was a person with their legs in the air.
  4. The ride does look very short, but super impressive I think. Hopefully I can make it over there this summer.
  5. Great pictures! I have a thing for waterslides, in ways they can be much more interesting than coasters. And I think that's awesome how much theming that place does for their slides. I can't wait to get back to the Dells this summer. -Nick
  6. I've recently come up with a mac and cheese recipe, and it sucks. Because I can pretty much eat it until I'm about to throw up. Be sure to make an entire casserole dish for each person. Now what's difficult, is I cook much more by feel than by measurement, so when I come up with something worthwhile, I have a hard time listing specific amounts. But I can tell you what I use, an estimated amount, and the process. SUPER FANCY AMAZING BAKED MAC AND CHEESE You need: Flour Butter (Just enough of those for a roux) Milk Sharp/extra sharp cheddar cheese (white or yellow, or both) 3-4c Gruyere cheese 3/4c approx. This is a funky part, at my grocery store (Wegmans!) There's the "fancy cheese section", and they sell plastic containers of a four cheese blend I use, consisting of Asiago, Fontina, Parmesan, and Provolone. So I really have no clue as to how much of each would be in the mix, but I'm sure any sort of cheese combination you could find like this would be good. 1/4 lb (measurement!) prosciutto, thinly sliced. Pasta of your choice Some seasnin's: pepper garlic powder mustard powder SO: For the slices of prosciutto, I lay them on a cookie cooling rack over a cookie sheet, and bake them for maybe 10-12 minutes, 350 degrees would be fine, (keep an eye on them) just until crispy, then they can be taken out to cool. I make a roux, starting with a few tablespoons of butter, then adding flour until it's got a very thick gravy-like consistency (can be formed but still flattens out on its own). Butter/flour can be adjusted for right consistency/amount needed. You can get the water boiling for the pasta and get that in, too. Cook the roux for at least a minute or so, constantly stirring around, to cook out the raw flour flavor. Milk will be the base of the white sauce (Béchamel). I was going to tell you to microwave it, so when it's added to the hot pan it isn't so shocking for the milk. However I just read that the actual definition of a Béchamel is a sauce made with scalded milk. I've done it both ways, really I suppose either is...fine. Warm or don't warm. I'd suggest maybe 3-4 cups of milk. It depends on how much you'll need, and how much roux you have (Too much milk/not enough roux=thin sauce). Pour in some of the milk and whisk well, then continue whisking in the rest. Now I add some pepper, a few sprinkles of garlic powder as well as some mustard powder. The sauce generally shouldn't be left alone, and be sure to keep it moving, if not constantly, every few moments. When this thickens, go ahead and add each type of cheese (shred the cheddars), one at a time until melted in. Yumyumyumyumyum. Go ahead and get a decent sized baking dish, put down some of the cheese sauce and fill with all of the cooked (or even *slightly* undercooked pasta). Crumble in the Prosciutto, and pour the rest of the cheese sauce. Don't try to use it all if you think you've got too much. It's the amount of cheese in the sauce, not the amount of sauce in the mixture, that you want. Any extra sauce can be refrigerated and melted into some pasta for a quick tasty mac and cheese. Once all incorporated, sprinkle a bit of shredded cheese on top, and bake. This evening, I did it at 400 degrees, for about 20 minutes. Just until it's all bubbly and good. Here's the hard part. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes or so. It's MUCH better when it's had a chance to get slightly cakey and solidified. I just finished a bowl of it now (one of about four), and I feel horrible. A marvelous selling point Sorry to write such a book, and to be so misguiding. Just take the idea and see what works for you. And be sure to let me know how it turns out. -Nick
  7. ^There's always national coming out day, October 11th.
  8. Not to sound really general, but I'm scared of the "unknown." Certain alien stuff can creep me out. Or other ghosty type things. I also have a fear of some sort of a breakout of a global virus. And reading through some others reminded me. I HATE driving next to water. Especially "mean" looking water. Most bridges I'm fine going over, but some can get to me. I hate living in NY in the winter, and driving right level to any of the many lakes around here when they're frozen or gray and snowy. That's bothersome.
  9. A little tower like this is perfect for Quassy. Such a teensy park, but it was definitely a great time.
  10. Thanks for putting these up! I had no idea this was even being built until a few days ago. Dollywood is an amazing place, and this looks like an awesome addition to their unique and quality attractions.
  11. Regarding Ride of Steel at Darien Lake: "The train goes up the lift by magnets, the chain is only a safety feature. It's all done by magnets these days."
  12. I like rides during the day to see the layout, but otherwise generally prefer them at night. I really liked Top Thrill Dragster at night, El Toro, and my gem at my home park, Ride of Steel, at Darien Lake. Thunderhead was great too. As far as best night ride though, I'd say Boulder Dash. Throw in some rain too. One of the best coaster experiences of all time. -Nick
  13. Any idea on how quickly it'll be filling up, like in terms of last year? I've gotta confirm things, and then I'll be mailing a check.
  14. The track looks like it's made out of thin scrap metal pieces. And the beyond vertical reverse lift is...interesting. I'd like a ride.
  15. Just do like that girl in Problem Child.
  16. 1. What are your initial thoughts? NEAT. This hit me as totally unexpected. Sounds fun! 2. Can you think of anything else we could be offering? Not really, nope! In fact most of what you listed hit me sort of as "really?!" 3. Is this something that interests you? Yesssss! 4. Why would you NOT be interested in this? I would never not be interested in this. 5. Any additional feedback you can give us based on the information you see here. This sounds totally cool. And really, with the amount of fun and experiences TPR has given me, the $40 a year is cheap! Totally worth it, if it was required I'd pay it for the way things are now. Count me in 100%. And thank you! -Nick
  17. Ohhh this trip was amazing. Seriously a life changing experience. Thank you SO MUCH for putting this all together! Can't wait for Mid America!
  18. ^Okay... But this ride is still pretty much a Rock 'n Roll, like at Knoebel's, which I'm just trying to say, doesn't feel like a roller coaster.
  19. This looks really fun, but I think it seems dumb to consider it as something that will "give riders the thrills of a looping inverted coaster."
  20. I had Nitro as my number one but as of a few weekends ago I don't think it was running its best. Superman at New England was better than I remembered, but the shape of the new restraints make the airtime awful. It's like a triangle whose point is facing your thighs. That third hill HURT.
  21. I felt really vulnerable on Phoenix at Knoebel's. A single position buzz bar, no seat belt, and insane air. I felt like it'd be really easy to slip out. Of course, that's what made it so fun and awesome.
  22. ^Don't drop out completely! TPR trips are something that MUST be experienced to understand their awesomeness. I remember before my first trip I wondered if I'd end up doing another one the year after. A few days in, I knew that doing another trip was a requirement. And now, I'm getting ready for my third. Don't lose hope!
  23. ^^Yes. Thanks for posting, I love seeing overhead views, especially of coasters. -Nick
  24. These are neat! I always thought it would be cool to have Millenium Flyers without the bars for the front seat, and that's pretty much what these are! They look somewhat odd but hopefully they do what they're thinking they'll do. Looking even more forward to next summer now!
  25. ^It looks like the Blisk base. You know, from Destroy All Humans 2.
