Photo TR:Michigan adventure and funny billboards.

I was at the park a few weeks ago and was really pleased with everything. There could've been more shade and the food a few bucks cheaper, but overall the staff was friendly and the rides were great. Shivering Timbers is like the CCI version of El Toro, with even more hills. I couldn't believe how good it was. Thanks for the great pictures! -Nick -
Was at the park today. Much better than opening day. It was Math and Science day, but other than school kids the park really wasn't crowded. Superman had a little lift incident in the morning, a loud noise and a fun walk down the lift! But they got it up and running not too long afterward. A lot of the new slide trough pieces were up, but I forgot to bring my camera with me. Painters were also walking the Barracuda Bay slides, as those are being repainted nice bright colors, and are almost totally done. All in all it was a great day, with a little bit of excitement and a lot of front seat rides on Ride of Steel. -Nick

Thanks for doing this TR Jason! That was for sure the craziest day I've had at a park, I'm glad you came over! Despite the crappy weather, the park definitely seems to be inline for a good season full of improvements. Next time we'll have to go when there's sun. -Nick -

It's sad that Ring Racer most likely won't be enjoying time as the fastest coaster in the world. -
I saw Tegan and Sara last month, and it was an incredible show. And I just bought Lady Gaga tickets for this summer.

This is so amazing! And serious question, is the park known for having random geese around? That night there were two sitting on a ledge and I went and sat with them... -

I'm officially home and settled, after an 8 hour "nap". This weekend was incredible. For my first time on the west coast I had an absolutely spectacular time! Thank you SO MUCH to all involved with making it run as amazingly as it did. -Nick -

I wish we had a delicious fruit festival around here. We have tomato fest. Gross. Some of those flats look amazing. And I noticed you have the same little "75 cent iced tea" stand that dominates our state fair, probably the best thing there. Looks like you had a great time, thanks for sharing! Oh, and I've been wanting to ride a double ferris wheel forever. They look so interesting. -

Ride You Felt Was Unsafe?
odene497 replied to Mr Stratosphere's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While I feel this ride is safe, it sure felt unsafe. Those flexible vinyl straps and nothing to hold on to. Spinning full speed towards the ocean upside down at 160(?) feet in the air. I've been on two of these so far, and still LOVE them. One of the few rides that are truly scary. And at around 15 bucks a person, for the length of the ride, they're a very worthwhile upcharge. On the left, with my eyes closed, next to a far less concerned Jason. (rollin' n coastin') -
While murder was definitely a wrong word choice, I still don't see how this justifies an animal not being punished for performing an act that would be punishable by death if it were done by a human. I mean, the whale apparently jumped out of the water, attacked the trainer, and slung her around in the water until she had drowned...how can you simply mark that up as an, "oops, that wasn't lucky..." and continue on about your day as if the animal hadn't done anything significant? How is killing the whale by any means the proper "punishment"? First of all, does it need to be "punished"? Like what was previously said, it didn't think out and plot the death of this woman, and killing it isn't going to teach it a lesson. It just went with its instinct at the time. If the whale wasn't in said tank, it wouldn't have had this opportunity in the first place. (Not that I'm all "set them all free") But it could always just be let go rather than be killed.

This is horrible. I've always heard stories like this but it's different to hear of one currently. I've always had a huge interest in Killer Whales and for a long period of time wanted to be a whale trainer. It's horrible for someone to be killed by what they have such a passion for, and even worse that there were hundreds of families there to see it.

I didn't realize how big this was! I thought that first hill that was up was the final one. I love the look of the supports.
