  1. Zamperla may be handling this the wrong way, but I agree with Larrygator. That place was an eyesore. Sure, it was a Coney Island staple, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be very hard to find another vacant lot and "rebuild" there. Anyways, I'm all for Zamperla's Coney Island project, but they need to cooperate with local businesses, not destroy them. If Zamperla wants Coney Island to become nice again, how about they build those businesses fancy-shmancy, new buildings? Probably not going to happen. At least they didn't try to swing a wrecking ball towards Nathan's
  2. This ride just gave Christmas a whole new meaning! Mom: "Kids, when you see Santa coming down the chimney, shoot the sick (noun)! Oh, and shoot his little reindeer, too!"
  3. What I'm looking forward to in 2011: - Riding the New Texas Giant - Going to Kemah Boardwalk for the first time and getting an awesome discount thanks to Club TPR! - My birthday party - Going to Italy on Spring Break - Going to NYC a week after Spring Break!
  4. In my opinion, the original Texas Giant was still a great ride when it was closed. Most people overexaggerate about the Giant's roughness. It really wasn't that bad! It's still one my favorite wooden coaster.
  5. Wow, I want to go to Thorpe Park now more than ever! Nemesis Inferno just looks awesome. It's pretty cool that you guys got to eat in that castle. Great TR!
  6. OK, this puzzles me. Did Will Koch "blunder" by dying? Oops, you're right. My bad
  7. 1) Hard Rock Park 2) The Mediocrity of the Tony Hawk Coasters 3) Astroworld Closing 4) Ghost Town in the Sky Closing 5) Zamperla Trying to Take Over Coney Island 6) Some people may not agree with me on this one, but I'm really disappointed that Dollywood got a Screamin' Swing instead of some other thrill ride. Seriously, there's a Screamin' Swing right down the road!
  8. One of these is weird, and the other one was just uncomfortable. Let's do the weird one first: I was riding a YoYo swing ride at the State Fair of Louisiana. For about a minute or so, the ride was acting fine and was very enjoyable. Then, all of a sudden, I feel this sudden jerk. I ignore it, considering it was a carnival ride and some traveling rides jerk when they begin to slow down. However, the ride wasn't slowing down, and I felt the jerk again a few times. Then, out of nowhere, lights and other crap started to fall off the ride! This continued until the ride op finally got control and ended the ride. He then tells us that he put all the riders on one side and they needed to be separated so the weight is balanced. Wow. Breakdown 2: A few years ago, I was on Test Track at WDW. When the vehicle reached the heat room, it stopped. Thinking it was part of the ride, everyone ignored it. But after the ride didn't move for a few minutes, we knew something was wrong! While I was proceeding to be fried by the hundreds of heat lamps, some ride ops came in and led us to the emergency exit. This wasn't the only breakdown I experienced at Disney; at least one ride we were on broke down every day!
  9. If Disney were to expand their monorail that much, the cost would be outrageous. WDW parks are set pretty far away from each other, and the roads inside the place are pretty much like 4 lane highways! Also, that monorail would have to have a pretty high capacity to pick up people from all the resorts and carry them to a park. I just don't see that happening for a long time. And, like some have said, the parks at WDW may be "magical", but the bus drivers and tourists who brought along their cars aren't. There are accidents every day. I also want to reinforce the point that the monorails at Disney have had some pretty terrible accidents, too. There isn't really a "safer" transportion system unless you wrapped the tourists in bubble wrap and gave them helmets and kneepads when they boarded the bus
  10. I had my first hibachi experience, which was AWESOME!
  11. I was going to stay up and watch it, but I finally said screw it and went to bed. I'm glad I did, though, since the only thing you could see the entire night in East Texas a blanket of clouds. Pictures are good enough for me
  12. Remember that Arrow pipeline coaster that Shane posted? Apparently, Intamin made something extremely similar called a "spiral coaster". They only produced one, which, after being relocated, ended up at Al-Sha'ab Leisure Park in Salmiya, Kuwait. It operated for 5 years an has been SBNO since 2005. And, according to RCDB, it is still in production! This entire coaster just strikes me as really strange. Does anyone have any more information on it? Oh, and I found some pictures, too, which I have posted below.
  13. 1) The New Texas Giant 2) The addition of 10 new flats at SFOT 3) Superman Tower of Power at SFOT 4) Mystery Mine at Dollywood 5) SFMM reclaiming the title of the coaster capital of the world The second and third one may not seem "big" to some people, but from my point of view they were, since they affected my home park.
  14. When I was at Lake Winnie in Georgia, I was riding their wooden out-and-back coaster, the Cannonball. On the hill going up to the turnaround, my seatbelt came open! But, like others said, it wasn't a big deal; I just fastened it back and enjoyed the rest of the ride. Lake Winnie itself is a lawsuit waiting to happen. They checked my restraints on one ride there. ONE.
  15. I have a black LG Shine. Everyone wants me to switch to a smartphone, but I can't; this phone is just too awesome. If you want a somewhat simple phone that can do many of the things a smartphone does, this is for you! Obviously not my picture!
  16. Yeah, some of the new turns get really close to the supports, dangerously close if the trains had no arm guards.
  17. Wow, this park looks really interesting. I like that they have Sleeping Beauty's Castle instead of the Cinderella Castle. Great TR!
  18. Wow... that's terrible. I'll definitely be praying for her family and the park itself.
  19. The idea of Ferrari World kinda reminds me of the failure that was Six Flags Autoworld... except this one won't be a failure. After all, Autoworld didn't have the world's fastest coaster! Or any coaster, for that matter. It barely had any rides at all! Oh well, I really hope to get out there sometime in the future. Great TR, by the way.
  20. According to rcdb.com, Tony Hawk's Big Spin at Six Flags Fiesta Texas has recently been renamed "Big Spin".
  21. I'm thankful for: - Rocky Mountain Construction (for the new Texas Giant) - Dollywood (for having an awesome Euro-fighter) - Carnivals (for providing some rides and coaster credits in the dullest part of Texas) - Theme Park Review (for encouraging me to become a theme park/coaster enthusiast)
  22. Not too many, but I hit a few new ones! - Alabama Adventure - Dollywood - Lake Winnepesaukah - Nascar Speedpark Going to a ton more next year.
  23. I hate to say this, but they just need to sell the not-too-damaged rides and tear the place down. You just don't build something like that in New Orleans. It's way too big of an investment for that location. I mean, there isn't any shelter for the rides, so they're left for the weather. And to built this in a place notorious for terrible hurricanes. Really stupid idea, in my opinion.
