  1. ^ Well Tim also said at WCB that he was currently working with Intamin, so anything is possible. Given that Mark Shapiro himself leaked the Terminator GCI several months before the press release. This group seems less concerned with secrets, and more concerned with getting the word out that things still are moving foward.
  2. ...And thus, SFMM will be building another headline grabbing coaster in 2010. Now this strategy makes perfect sense.
  3. ^ I'm sure Shapiro knew this time was coming and planned ahead as much as possible. I'd be willing to bet any capitol ex for 2010 has already been planned out and paid for in advance.
  4. It's probably as wait and see thing. But I suspect that at least for SFMM, the 2010 plans have already been finalized.
  5. I don't care how small or how big, I really want *SOMETHING* with some good airtime for a change. I know, it's not about what I want. But a coaster with some good ejector air would be the final piece to make SFMM's collection the most special in the US.
  6. ^ I see no reason why they can't do both at the same time. That's seems to be the strategy anyway. X2/Thomas Town, with Terminator you get both thrilling and Family, 2010 coaster and waterpark addition. 2011? I'd love to see a family ride and a drop tower.
  7. ^ I hate the word "spoiled" in this context. No park is spoiled. Each park does what they think is best to sell tickets within whatever their budget is. I hope PKD gets something great. I'm planning a PKD, SFA, BGW trip for next summer!
  8. I get sick on Tatsu as well. But riding in the front two rows has fixed that problem. It's that extra pull in the back that gets to my stomach. In the front I find the ride very enjoyable.
  9. I usually will not mind if it's one or two people *once*. It's that group mentality that is the last straw for me. Streams of people joining a friend in front of me is a no-no. If you're a group, get in line as a group and stay in line as a group. On the other hand, if someone stops to buy a soda and loses their party because of it, not a big deal for me.
  10. Scream would be a very risky coaster to revamp. All the bells and whistles in the world won't undo it's parking lot reputation, or it's similarity to Riddler's. And I just don't see them ripping up that concrete underneath the ride. And then after all that effort, people would still run to X2, Tatsu and Terminator, and Scream/Bizarro would still be off in that corner, fairly ignored. Just my opinion. imo, only a new coaster will draw people the other way. Something special.
  11. I remember Jay saying that he wants to balance out the park, so that everyone won't run to the left towards X2, Tatsu and now Terminator. Scream didn't quite do the trick, so I can only deduct that at some point something interesting will go on that side of the park again.
  12. I agree with everything you just typed. A Tony Hawk ride in Freefall's old spot would suit the park well. I hope they go with an Intamin spinner though, and push the limits a little bit with a new design and a grander, more interactive theme.
  13. Next up: The Flash, Green Goblin, Wonder Woman. Mark Shapiro also mentioned recently that SF will be doing a series of rides based on The Mummy.
  14. That area is perfect for a HH expansion or a new water ride. There is plenty of room for other types of rides within the rest of the park.
  15. What's REALLY going to be interesting, is when Terminator ranks at #8 on next year's Mitch poll, because of the So-Cal riders (as happened with Troy). I've never really understood the lack of rides with strong airtime in California, and lack of Intamin steel. Hopfully, some park will one day remedy the issue. Until then. Anyway, back to Terminator talk.
  16. It's like good advice...that you just didn't take.
  17. By the way. I recently saw an advanced screening of Terminator: Salvation, and I haven't decided if I liked it or not. Very well done special effects, and a terrific performance from a relative newcomer named Sam Worthington (first cyborg to get and oscar nod?), who completely steals the movie from Bale. He's the one you'll remember from the movie much more so than John Connor, who in this film comes off very grim, humorless and almost unlikeable. Very stylish direction from McG, who gives the movie a very distinct grainy look, and the "machines" in this film are creepier than ever. But the movie was so cold, grim and humorless that although it was effective in the early moments, it really starts to wear on you about the halfway point. I was sitting there missing Arnold and the sense of "fun". The movie was better than expected (if you were expecting it to be crap), but it really wasn't all that good either. Of course the movie is left WIDE open for a sequel, so SFMM should be able to milk this theme for many years to come!
  18. Yeah, as much as I'd like to ride this, there's no way I'm setting foot in SFMM this weekend. And I wouldn't be surprised if Terminator is not on the q-bot list for this weekend either.
  19. That's awesome you guys! Can't wait to see it. I was out at the park today as well, and the coaster lines were insane. We lasted until about 4pm. Only got 3 rides in!
  20. I loved Psyclone's first drop. It was my favorite for many years. The rest sucked, but I'll miss that twisted first drop. Terminator's looks downright tame in comparison.
  21. Wow, on a second look, those trains are dazzling! I'm not a train enthusiast, but those just may be the most cool looking cars I have seen.
  22. ^ I agree. The Terminator theme lends this ride a uniqueness that it otherwise would not have. Without the theme, it's basically GCI redux. Nothing wrong with that, but for me it's something else to look forward to other than what I've already ridden.
