  1. ...And SFMM's lack of airtime streak will continue it looks like. I do like Premier launch coasters though. Guess I'll have to look to Knotts for some type of airtime fix in 2013...
  2. Knotts REALLY impressed me, and I couldn't be happier. If they can do a "Boulderdash" type comeback with Ghostrider, this will be one of my top theme parks in the country again, and the biggest reason to visit Southern Cal. Great job guys!
  3. I noticed a lot of new music around the park too! Some good, some bad. By the way, did anyone else run into Bonnie Rabjohn on Saturday? My friends and I did, and she was beyond nice (if a little shy). She asked us if we were having a good time, and actually apologized for the "dead" areas of the park. She said the park was undergoing a transitional period, with a lots of projects going on at the same time. She had a few people with her, and they seemed to be stopping and looking at everything. I wish she would participate in the Q&A with Tim and Neal, but I get that it may not be her thing like Jay.
  4. I could be wrong, but I honestly don't see them spending the money it would cost the go for the height or speed record. Kingda ka was $25 million, and we're talking basically a one trick ride. And a ride that big would completely waste the terrain it would be built on. The multi-launch rumour sounds more plausible to me.
  5. I really enjoyed myself on both days with very few complaints. The limited ERT at SFMM did not bother me one bit. Mainly because the WHOLE DAY was pretty much ERT, with some VERY light crowds. I did appreciate them extending the X2 ERT, that was a nice touch. I kinda got the feeling that that there was just so much going on behind the scenes, from construction to ride rehabs to limited staff, that they just weren't operating at full strength like in past years. Not really an excuse, but an observation. I can forgive them for an off year, the past 4-5 have been beyond awesome. *Only one real complaint, and I hope management reads this. The food was TERRIBLE. Would it have hurt to at least add some bar b que sauce to the meat? It was bland and dull. Especially after the very good food we had the day before at Universal!
  6. I'd love something like Cheetah Hunt meets Maverick meets ISpeed. It's one of the types of coaster that I've always wanted on the West coast, second only to a second hyper/giga. After seeing the site up close, I really feel like we're looking at a launch as opposed to a large lift hill. That's just a personal feeling though.
  7. While Green Lantern may have disappointed, Apocalypse most certainly did not. This coaster deserves some love, because it was hauling ass Saturday night. It really has become a great little wooden coaster, and imo, HIGHLY underrated.
  8. Yeah we noticed to that the ride didn't spin as much as it did when we rode it back in August. And we got some pretty unbalanced cars a few times. Not sure why, and not sure I care. At this point, I won't ride it again either. I loved the ride last summer, was bored to tears by it on Saturday. All I can say is, onward to 2013!
  9. Agreed. I have ridden Green Lantern at least 30 times, and not once have I had an issue...um down there. All my rides have been fun and enjoyable. And I haven't heard anyone complain about the other Zac Spin incarnations. What is it with Americans and finding some kind of pain on any ride that doesn't move in a straight line.
  10. ^ Actually most parks don't even announce opening dates any more, until the ride is almost finished. And given that SFMM is a year round park, they can open a new ride any time they choose, probably whatever works to their "marketing" advantage. I do agree though that delays are frustrating if you're planning a trip from far away.
  11. I will crack up if the next coaster turns out to be a Euro-Fighter with a bunch of inversions...
  12. I wonder what gave traction to the giga rumor to begin with? I'm not sure what's coming, but giga coaster would not be on that short list, mainly do to the cost of such a massive ride. Then again, I didn't expect Kings Dominion to go that route either.
  13. Well having ridden Goliath with the GP for over a decade, I know they go wild over Goliath's one airtime hill. I'd go so far to say it's one of the more crowd pleasing elements in the park!
  14. With all the work being done around Log Jammer's former spot, and how early it's being done, I'm sensing something pretty major. If not in height, certainly in scale.
  15. ^ Well that depends... it's possible the ride could go up and over that immediate area.
  16. The only problem with getting my hopes up for a giga, is the cost. Is SF ready to drop $28 mill on one coaster at one park? I guess we'll see!
  17. ^ Dive coasters are very fun, but IMO a dive coaster at SFMM would fall into the same trap that the park has been stuck in since forever, INVERSION city and a lack of airtime. Whatever they build next, I want to see some airtime hills, and don't think a dive coaster will provide that.
  18. DOD will be the first ride in a long time that will make me second guess myself as I hop aboard those cars.
  19. I love all this talk about Revolution. This ride doesn't get enough love from modern coaster fans, and certainly not the park. It should be a national treasure and more than any other ride in the park (Colossus included), deserves a complete makeover from Six Flags. Paint job, new trains, station and trims removed/disabled.
  20. I agree. Airtime is what SFMM needs. Something like El Toro, Bizarro or even Maverick.
  21. I'm hoping no inversions though, unless they are ones the park has not done yet. Is there an inversion left the park hasn't done like twice?
  22. I'm starting to sense something big coming next year...
  23. I honestly don't have a problem with this at all. If I want family, I'm going to Knotts or Disney anyway (regardless of any attempt by SFMM to go family). If I'm going to SFMM, I'm kinda expecting thrill coasters at this point. I would like the park to be well staffed and well run, with at least a few things spread around the park for kids. But ultimately, my days of yearning for SFMM to be anything other than what it is, ended around 2006 lol.
