  1. ^ So I'm guessing the park has regressed since the Jay Thomas era? lol
  2. My top 5 are: Boulder Dash El Toro Voyage Ravine Flyer Phoenix So I'm very happy with the results!
  3. ^ Very good point. What in the world would a typical CGA guest spend money on once in the park? Season passes? Why, there's nothing there to justify a second visit. Overpriced food? No way. Merchandise? What, another Grizzly mug? Clearance Invertigo t-shirts? Hopefully The new team has a plan to make CGA a profitable park again, similar to what Shapiro and Jay Thomas had to do to overcome SFMM's horrible reputation.
  4. The answer is simple. CF had every intention of dumping the park, mostly due to a bad, landlocked location and their fights with the city over the stadium deal. So Kinzel made the decision not to invest in it. The new CEO seems to have other intentions.
  5. Also I believe there are a set of brakes heading up that final raven turn.
  6. I also got the survey... I can't ever remember another time when the park was interested in what kind of roller coaster their guests might be interested in. As soon as I saw that they had a "giga" coaster listed, I immediately thought of them battling Knotts for giga bragging rights in 2013 lol. Obviously, I picked anything with airtime, and I hope others will follow suit!
  7. Cedar Fair is playing politics now. Don't be surprised if it is now suddenly easier to get "certain" attractions approved. If a company wants something built bad enough, they will find a way.
  8. ^ Agreed. Just a few months ago we were hearing the doom and gloomers saying the park was done, and were already selling off rides and turning the area into a strip mall. Well guess what? That didn't happen. So I'm not going to buy into any more "theories" about this park's future other than the people who run it. If fans want to get excited about what may or may not happen down the road, I think that's healthy optimism (whithin reson of course). I think most of us can and have handled disappointment, it's not going to destroy anyone. To me it's no less valid than taking the opposite view that the park will just sit on idle and do very little. I'm a little tired of extremes either way at this point. No the park isn't going to build everyone's dream Intamin launcher. But I don't think a small GCI is out of the picture either. And there is more evidence of the latter anyway seeing as they have already attempted it.
  9. Cedar Fair to the city: Stop letting neighbours dictate what we build in our park.
  10. ^ Well I've ridden GL several times and never had a problem. It's a flat out, fun ride and not painful at all. People talking like it's some sort of handbanging, revenge of Flashback, and that is just not true. The ride is forceful for it's size, and people who can't take those sort of forces should just not ride it. As far as taming it? No F-ing way! Why would you tame a ride that already has trims and is less than 1000ft long? That makes no sense at all.
  11. Lex Luthor: I'm a bit surprised there isn't more excitement surrounding this ride, but I think that will change once people see this thing in action. I'm still in shock we're finally getting a 400ft drop tower. Skyrush: The closest we Americans are going to get to an Intamin mega lite design, with the added pleasure of those awesome looking trains as well as height and speed. A must ride next year. XFlight: Wild Eagle is certainly no slouch, but this is the wingrider I'm looking forward to in 2012, at least here in the states. This one adds a few new twists to the B&M arsenal, and looks like the "crowd pleaser" among the new coasters.
  12. Phantom's Revenge is about the same length, and it's my number one steel coaster. I do with it were longer, but I suspect it won't affect my enjoyment or ranking. But I will wait to ride it before making a final judgement.
  13. Why? That'd be pointless. The old layout was totally designed and ready to go. Why not build it the way it was originally intended? Unless those noise concerns and neighbor issues have been solved (maybe they have been), that would be my reasoning.
  14. My guess would also be GCI (great price point and custom layouts), although I can't help but suspect that the layout will be wildly modified, if not outright different than the one proposed a few years back.
  15. Agreed. And I would hate to see that happen. If there is a new coaster on the horizon, I think Cedar Fair would have a far easier time giving Flight Deck a new companion.
  16. For me, a front car ride on Scream is just as fun as the others I've been on (I actually find SFGadv's Medusa/Bizarro to be the weakest). But it's all about the visuals of the front car for me. Other than that, none of them do all that much for me.
  17. I don't see Superman going anywhere anytime soon, so they might as well make it more reliable and marketable as they did with X2. Whether coaster fans find it boring is irrelevant.
  18. Supervan is not thrilling at all. Its loud, ugly, unreliable, and boring. I hope they don't waste any money on it other than to tear it down. Wow, I've always wanted to ride on "Supervan". Guess I'll just have to settle for Superman:The Escape!
  19. Wow, am I the only one who loves S:TE? Sure it's not thrilling, but it is quite fun and I enjoy it to this day. It also amazes me that the people who dislike it are the same ones saying it would be a waste to improve it. That makes no sense to me. Personally, I'd like to see the ride converted into to a 100 mph racing coaster and call it Superman vs Bizarro. And there is nothing wrong with Scream. It needs a good paint job. The ride itself is fine.
  20. Seems to me the major work at Six Flags in 2010 is going to be cosmetic. Painting, upgrades and aesthetic work to make the parks pop and look better. I don't expect any major attractions until 2011.
  21. Yeah, for me it's a top 20 coaster. But I think it's short length, lack of extreme forces and "enhancements" all hurt it's ranking. It does sit right next to Ozark though, which I think is pretty fitting.
  22. GG has built what, 4 coasters? and 3 of them are in the top 10. Great Job.
  23. Not everyone takes issue with the roughness on Voyage. I happen to think it's pretty mindblowing.
  24. Revolution, Colossus, Ghostider, Top Gun were all top 10 once upon a time.
