The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Manic Monte replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Flyers are fun and unique and all, but I personally think they are more uncomfortable than they are enjoyable and am glad they are dying out. I don't find Tatsu the least bit uncomfortable. Unless of course it gets stuck for an extended amount of time. -

You know, GCI rides may not inspire passion among airtime favored enthusiasts, but not much tops them in terms of sheer "fun" factor. SFMM made a wonderful choice with this coaster. I can't wait to marathon on this with my nephew! -
Six Flags May Not Survive 2009...
Manic Monte replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ People keep saying SF is in trouble, but no one is saying what that means for the company. Does this mean possible Chapter 11 and restructuring or does this mean the destruction of the entire company? What does "in trouble" mean? -
As far as the 2010 coaster for SFMM goes, I suspect we'll see a Tony Hawk spinning clone. I just don't see SF paying for R&D for some large coaster in this economy, and with the amount of debt the company is dealing with. A Tony Hawk ride also fits under the "family friendly" category Shapiro is so fond of. I wouldn't get your hopes up for much more than that.

Knott's Ghost Rider
Manic Monte replied to vdoefx's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My new name for Ghostrider is "kinda pissed off Streak" or "baby Streak". Only problem now is, Mean Streak is less painful. What a shame. I really have no desire to go back to Knotts ever again. Ghostrider was the featured attraction for me. Without it, Knotts is filled with mediocre coasters. -
Track Spottings!

I would take a stand up over a flyer, dive machine, or neutered invert any day! Oh wow, I certainly would not. Riddler's Revenge is the only stand up I can even remotely take, and it destroys my legs so badly that I don't even ride it anymore. -

Intamins are very expensive and I think ultimately that would be the reason not to go with them at this point. Mark Shapiro has said he wants to add coasters but he not going to spend 15 or 20 million on them. -

Yeah I just salivate at the possibilty of an Intamin Mega-Lite in between Riddler and Batman. No matter how improbable that sounds, I refuse to believe SFMM will never try Intamin again. -

^ But plenty of room for a station. Remember, coasters often go up and out of their central location. -

^ Yep, I'll take this over Dark Knight anyday. I suspect this coaster will be something like Rumbler, which I like a lot. -

^ Kentucky Rumbler is close to the exact same length. Terminator is somewhat short, but to put in some perspective, it's no shorter than 2 major 2008 coasters. Ravine Flyer II and Farenheit are both around the same length as Terminator will be. -

^ This is similar to what I was hoping they would do the day I heard the coaster was going back in that area. This part of the park REALLY needs an upgrade. New shops, bathrooms, places to eat and some nice flatrides would really spruce up the area. Oh and if SFMM is still on tap for a Starbucks store, that's the area I hope it goes in. -

^ I think this coaster may end up surprising a few people. It's 100ft tall, 55 miles an hour, and it looks pretty fast from beginning to end. -

First off, Maverick is not a mega ride. It's barely over 100ft so it should suck by your standards. Secondly, it doesn't matter what you think this ride is going to be. This ride is being built to be fun and family friendly. If that's not what you like you simply don't have to ride it. It's one less person in front of me. I don't get the whining. The ride is what it is. If it's not your cup of tea, please feel free to move on.
