  1. OMG, you've got to be kidding me. The LAST thing SFMM wants to be anymore is an extreme park, a safe haven for obnoxious teens, spoiled enthusiasts and overhyped mega rides. Enough already. This is exactly the type of ride the park needed. Other than flat rides, it was the best choice.
  2. ^^^ LMAO! That was the post of the week! Nothing better than FREE sex after a coaster ride!
  3. I would have one question for those people who mistake Terminator for a re-vamped Psyclone. Why the hell are you in line!?
  4. A lot of people seem to be saying it looks like the baby of Kentucky Rumbler and Ozark Wildcat. Should be a fun family ride, which looks to be the goal of Jay Thomas and crew. SFMM has enough big, stat obsessed thrill rides. What they needed was a solid wooden coaster that familes can ride together. Now I hope we get some flats. As for the Terminator theme, it doesn't really bother me.
  5. What's with all of the "doom and gloom" updates?
  6. Looks like a few more parks will be sold off next year...
  7. I think Colossus backwards is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it's the best wooden coaster experience currently in southern California.
  8. There was a time when thrill rides fit right in with the over-the-top image of the strip. The problem is, Las Vegas wants your money, period. Whether it be casinos, VIP clubs or thrill rides. If something stops bringing in cash, or looses it's ability to draw in tourists, no time is wasted in replacing it. This city chews up and spits out everything in it's wake, all in the name of money. It's just business. Las Vegas didn't just decide to stop building amusement type rides because they are anti-family. They stop building them because in these economic times, families stopped going. Speed NEVER had much consumer output, the entire time it was open. I knew a few years ago that it's lifespan would be a short one. I'm surprised it stayed open as long as it did truthfully. People with money have better things to do, and people without just don't have the extra cash to waste on a ride that costs $10 a pop for one ride.
  9. Jay Thomas you mean? If I remember correctly, he did say that no decision had been made on what Pysclone's land would be used for. But that the 2009 project would not be located there. Perhaps he said that to throw us off? Or perhaps the location had changed since then. Or maybe only part of that area will be used. Not sure.
  10. I was told by an employee a few months ago that the ride would close right after peak season, and that a decision would be made this winter about whether to go foward or not with the ride. That is sad, this ride was cool.
  11. Any logical reason for this or is it just a feeling? Yes logic. All of the other Six Flags announcements are happening this month. Last year they also announced all their projects in September. It seems to be a Mark Shapiro thing.
  12. I'm actually expecting to hear something about the new ride next week...
  13. ^ I'm sure an announcement is coming soon (probably very soon). It seems as though SFMM is the only park in the chain building a major new coaster next year. So I would expect that it would be announced seperate from the others.
  14. ^ Right, but California has better weather and thus does not need those early starts.
  15. ^ Or this could end up being one of those mid summer openings, like EK. They may feel like X2 should remain the main focus on into next spring. Who knows...
  16. Wow, that sounds great! I'll have to get back there and ride Supes again next year.
  17. I'd like to get rid of Dan Snyder and Mark Shapiro. The End.
  18. How steep is Jurrasic Park? That is my favorite water drop.
  19. Um...yeah. Speak for yourself. I AM going to fly to Holiday World next year. For this, and their 3 wonderful wooden coasters. This is like icing on the cake.
  20. ^ That's a great idea. I also wonder how much of a benefit is it for SFMM to be open year round? It seems with as many rides as this park has, operational costs and rehab issues really do call for the park to have a brief "off season". Does SFMM really bring in that much profit from January-March?
  21. ^ I would have to agree with you. I'm tired of the excuses where Tatsu is concerned. It's of EQUAL importance to X2, and should run 3 trains as often as possible, especially during mid summer. There's just no excuse for those two rides to not run at maximum capacity 80 percent of the time. Six Flags has worn out all the excuses. Now it's time for the park to put up or lose visitors for good. It's just that smple.
  22. ^ I think B&M have been plenty innovative, in their own time. Of course they really don't need anything else in their arsenal yet as what they have is what most parks aspire to be able to afford. Intamin on the other hand has yet to create a ride with the impact of the B&M inverted, where every park wants one. As for ridng however, I agree that's Intamins take the cake for intensity and creativity. They are tops with the enthusiats crowds that's for sure. I personally call a draw. It just depends on what I'm looking for in a ride. If I want insane air and intensity, Intamin/Stengal does that brilliantly. I actually like the pre-fabs MUCH more than the hypers (which are slightly overrated imo). The fun factor though, belongs to B&M. Apollo's Chariot, Fire Dragon and Nitro may not be as intense, but I can ride them all day long and NEVER tire of them.
  23. What happened? Parks started neutering their coasters. So they offered a "softer" alternative that families could enjoy together, and parks jumped on it. I still can't get over how differently rides like Raging Bull, Alpie, Montu and Mantis ride now compared to when they opened. Only Kumba remains untamed.
