Did I hit the wrong button? I'm new here and have missed previous discussions. I certainly don't mean to bring up bad emotions and feelings. From what I've heard, it's just a matter of time for Revo No it wasn't you at all. It's that, 1) it's a depressing subject for most of us 2) it's a topic that can meander along endlessly. That said, I think it's coming too!

You know, I'm sure there is reasoning as to why they didn't bring it all the way to the top, nothing works out perfectly. Well first off, he needs to show us where SFMM said they were going to bring the ride to the top of the tower. The concept art released with the announcement is just that, concept art. Secondly, the ride drops 400ft, from the top where it stops, to the bottom of the tower.

2 things: 1. There is no way the drop is actually 400 feet unless the tower really isn't 415 feet tall. To say that the cars are dropping slower than they initially planned supports that. I personally don't care, but its kinda dishonest for them to continue the repeating false statistics. 2. If that video is an indication of a typical operational cycle, it looks like there's going to be a Maximum Capacity of 16 guests every 2 minutes. At 60 min, that leaves us with 480 guests per hour. Ouch. Glad they're providing a single rider line, that's where I'll be waiting! Technically, the ride does drop 400ft. How much it actually "freefalls", none of us can say for sure.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
Manic Monte replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's not rough enough to even really mention, and doesn't distract from it's awesomeness at all. It's a top 10 steel coaster easily, and it seems kinda silly to keep nitpicking it to death. -
See, I understand what you're saying, but come on. People planning trips from out of town are coming to ride X2, Tatsu, Goliath as well as Lex Luther. But anyone with any theme park experience at all should know that a brand new attraction may not be open, and that's whether it opened on time or not. I'm sure SFMM is much more concerned about opening the ride when it is safe AND ready, then they are about people whining on the internet. Yes, we know Six Flags can be shoddy, but in this case I don't want a ride like this open until it is ready...period. It's not about being a fanboy. It's common sense.

Also keep in mind that although we didn't see much actual work on the ride until late, there was plenty going on behind the scenes to prepare for it (modifications to the tower and such). It's funny, I took a trip out to Hershey to ride Skyrush it's opening week (I booked the trip 2 months in advance), knowing full well I may not get to ride it. Fortunately it was up and running, but went knowing I might be disappointed, and I was okay with that.

I've got it! So doubling the capacity wouldn't make a difference. /sarcasm We're going to be lucky if this ride breaks 300 pph. Doubling that would be a HUGE difference. With your logic, we might as well cut it down to 1 person per a cycle because lousy capacity is lousy capacity no matter the number! Who cares!? That's not what I was saying so please don't put words in my mouth. Anyway, I'm pretty sure cost was 90 percent the factor for these installations going in the way they are. I'm sensing a pattern of one park getting a major attraction per year (SFGam was long overdue for a big B&M). Everyone else needed to be a bit more creative. I'm not making excuses because I think it sucks, but there is nothing I can do about it. Except complain of course...and there are already enough people doing that for me!
