Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Manic Monte replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It looks pretty kick ass to me... well, kick ass in a B&M kind of way! -
All rumours thus far. Truthfully, no ones knows anything about this ride yet. What if the loop is like the inverted loop on Superman (SFDK) ? It's so unfair to already be judging a ride before it's even announced. I can see where we're headed. "Ugh, I'm not looking forward to whatever "park A" builds in 2016, it's going to suck!

Yeah but you can't expect one park on the west coast to match those "several" parks with all those great coasters. The quality of coasters would have to go up at every park over here. I agree that SFMM needs and airtime machine. It makes no sense to have 17-18 roller coasters that all go upside down, and a hyper coaster with one speed hill? But then you look at the other parks in Cali and the situation gets even more dire. Xcelerator and then...nothing.

I'm actually pretty surprised SFMM has been able to keep many of the details of the upcoming coaster so secret. I think back to the days of Goliath's layout leaking a month early, the whispers about the first "4th Dimension" going into the bus parking lot, and of course Robb's great hints about Superman turning backwards. Although the park has pretty much admitted a launch coaster of some sort is coming, and we have gotten lots of crazy rumours from employees. But the park itself has been dead silent. No drop of clues or any sort of PR stunts that other parks have done before announcing a potential game changing addition. If indeed something major is going to be announced at the end of the month, I'd be nice to have some sort of build up to the announcement day to wet our appetites and get us talking about something other than single rider lines. Although I have enjoyed the "launch coaster" talk of the last few pages. C'mon SFMM, throw us a bone!

^ Okay, this kind of thing just boils my blood. The funny thing is, this isn't the first complaint of this type that I have heard from that park. I really have nothing more to say other than if this is the way they treat customers, they can forget me ever visiting that dump, I don't care what they do with rattler.

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Manic Monte replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay so I have to ask, why has Knotts been so quiet the past few years. Absolutely no rumors since the rumor of a giga coaster two years ago. Anyone heard anything? -
On my last few visits I have experience some of both, but not NEARLY enough to come even close to the 2001-2005 period. With the exception of Tatsu and Superman, the park has been running multiple trains all summer long. The Tatsu situation continues to be awful though, and there is no excuse for it. I'd say it's one of the worst run rides in the country. The park remains very clean and very few coasters are ever closed for an entire day as in the past. The employees are here and there but overall very friendly and concerned with rider comfort so no big problems there. While the front areas of the park are beautiful, the back area is a dump and is really in need of an overhaul. Overall, I don't feel like I'm visiting a park where no one cares. I just feel like there are still key areas of failure that keep this park from being great.

^ Unfortunately that's not just a SFMM thing. That's an all of California thing. We get so few truly great rides, that we tend to over praise anything decent. Having said that, I really like SFMM's lineup of coasters. While none of them crack my top 15 either, they also don't really have a bad one in the bunch either.

You can find a lot of popular flat rides at carnivals too, I really don't get the point of complaining about this one. It's an up charge for extra cash, who cares how much it costs, especially given the large investment coming next year, just one year after opening the big drop ride. The real question is whether the GP will be interested in trying this one. Thrill Shot seemed to have a pretty low ridership as up charges go.
