Cedar Point coasters will always rank higher just because they're at Cedar Point. Who wants to take a wild guess where Gate Keeper will rank? -

Yes, but keep in mind that not everyone runs into a park looking for airtime machines. People like fun rides, and they don't separate items by how many moments of airtime it has, or whether it's B&M vs Intamin . -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

It's certainly the new Six Flags mantra. They haven't spent $20 mill on one coaster since Tatsu. -
^ Yeah I don't get that notion either. I think they have actually been very creative with the limited budget they have been given. My only real gripe the last few years has been capacity, the park is really overdue for a people eater, as Tatsu turned out to be anything but. That is the one "cost cutting" trend that I think really hurts the parks yearly operation. When it's time to pull a train from Full Throttle for rehab, it's essentially a single train operation without apologies. Still, I think spending less, yet still coming up with ways to build "talked about" rides is very smart. Even the Rocky Mountain conversions are surprisingly cheap. If SFMM wants to go all out next time, I think Colossus will be the way to do it.

It's certainly a cheap way to add a major coaster to their parks with large, budget sucking wooden coasters. Six Flags seem fully on board with it, so I would expect/hope Colossus would be next. Colossus has an amazing, old fashion layout. I hope if it does happen, they preserve the double out and back part of the ride. Edit: Tim Burkhart confirmed they were looking into it. He sounded very excited by the possibilities.

That may be correct but there are some people that feel let down because they, themselves expected more. Yeah, turns out Six Flags still isn't at a point where they're willing to lay down 20-25 million for one coaster. So all of the "longest coaster", "Maverick of the west", "we wanted more" expectations were doomed from the start.

Since Six Flags didn't release any specifics in terms of cost, length and capacity, the closes comparison I can make is Stormrunner. Stormrunner carries an estimate of 1200 pph with 2 trains at 5 cars each. So the estimate of 700-720 sounds about right. Stormrunner also cost about $12 million with a track length of 2,600, which also sounds comparable to FT. Of course Stormruuner opened in 2004 I believe and it's an Intamin (so give or take those factors).

After Pony Express, I want to see something more thrilling than some of the stuff mentioned here. The park has two excellent water rides. I think we can do without a third one for awhile. Unless they plan on a highly themed Euro-Fighter, those coasters are a no for me. They are fun but forgettable, and border on rough. I'm still routing for a hypercoaster or at the very least, one of those Mack mega-lite coasters. I know Knotts isn't responsible for my enthusiast wishes, but personally I am tired of going upside down in So-cal. I'm also tired of overly short, boring "family" rides.

To be fair, SFMM never hinted at any of those crazy rumors. Longest coaster? In what universe would Six Flags spend that kind of money on one coaster? Maverick-like terrain? Simply a fanboy dream. Magic Mountain hasn't built that kind of ride since Revolution! Top 10 terrain hugging "airtime machine"? I laughed every time I heard that. What park were people talking about again? I think I like Full Throttle more than most because I never set myself up for that kind of disappointment.
