  1. ^That's too bad as it was a vital part of the town's economy. A smaller, sketchy pier it was with a Sponge Bob Square Pants knock off dark ride, it was worth an hour or two of your time and had character. But, I can understand if the owner is tired and the costs are too much, just sad for everyone.
  2. Statement from Casino Pier, hopes to be back in operation at some point in 2013 Linky
  3. Yup, looks like something Big and Tall. Facebook
  4. I'm a full on whore. That is all.
  5. A couple of stories out of Jenkinson's which seems to have fared well. One story details how the some of the owners rode out the storm in the parks office. One thing I learned from the article is that this family bought Casino Pier in 2002. Foxnews Foxnews
  6. I was just curious if I missed something really, like NTAG, lockers, rings, etc.
  7. I'm curious...where has this extra 'c' come from all of a sudden in Rocky Mountain Construction? www.rockymtnconstruction.com/
  8. Keansburg sets date to re-open, this is a good thing. Article
  9. Flames are cool, lightning bolts are lame.
  10. I'm no ACEr, a whore, probably, but I did "Like" a few pages I had previously not so I could see their updates on the rebuilding process.(hell, I didn't even know one of them was even on FB)
  11. ^^^^*facepalm* The running steal is being welded together and ground smooth at the joints, one should not worry about hitting the hex bolts attaching the running steal to the topper track. If a wheel is that far off, well, maintenance has a lot more to worry about I totally agree. They are still adding support pieces and that should continue through this week. I was told by SDC construction that the plates they used to join the wood together strengthened the structure and provide for less maintenance on the structure vs using two pieces of wood on either side of the joints. Time will tell, but it seems RMC's quality is comparable to B&M's in terms of long term durability. Fingers crossed for them.
  12. Oh wow. After seeing the pictures of the arcade games having been floated around and looted I wondered what the park looked like. I actually really liked that place for some reason, strange I know, but it had character, or just characters working there and roaming around. Nevertheless it's yet another business that's got a ton of work ahead of it. I hope they recover well.
  13. Suddenly I have the urge to become a rides broker...
  14. ^The actual ride length is 1:27 as listed on the ride fact sheet. The video is not 1:27.

  16. ^You would be correct. Tradition with Herschend is that Mr. Herschend gets his choice of either train for the first ride of humans. Then others follow suit including employees 2013 Season passes are now on sale.... www.bransonsilverdollarcity.com/tickets/seasonpasses.aspx?track=SDCMPOFFERS

  18. As far as new rides in 2012 that I have ridden....Leviathong
  19. Seems that more and more families are coming to Knotts to avoid Disney pricing, as such this is a perfect choice for them.
  20. Yup. That's some fine looking dirt.
  21. Just ran across some Ocean City video. While it doesn't appear they caught anywhere near the detestation Seaside Heights did, it's still pretty bad. oceancity.patch.com/articles/aerial-tour-of-ocean-city-shows-major-storm-damage#video-11977883
  22. They were crap. When I mention a few other rides are defunct it's more in the sense of more of this persons business has been lost, tourism gone, economic damage is done, recovery will be slow, and some may not rebuild. Seaside Heights was super popular in part thanks to MTV, without it, as the Governor pointed out, a huge part of NJ's economy is lost. I truly feel bad for these people, all of them. I see that type of devastation after tornadoes all the time. In those times people all come together, eff the politics or personal beliefs, these people lost everything. It will be short of a Christmas miracle if by next season even 1/4 of Seaside is back to normal. Here is an article with quotes from the owner of fun town pier who said that only 4 of his 44 rides survived without damage. My question has been answered, two different owners...I guess my dream of a mega pier(s) is lost... http://blog.nj.com/njv_mark_diionno/2012/11/di_ionno_decimated_seaside_pie.html KT's water soaker
  23. I've been doing some mild searching and haven't found the answer yet, but does anyone know if these two piers were owned by the same company? If so, I could see a mega pier in the design phase. The S&S as I recall was one of my favorites, largely in part due to the view.
