Howdy Folks! It's Cowboy Chadster bringing you another Outlaw Run updated with a side of National Harvest Fest, A Salute to the American Cowboy. The festival features over 125 artists selling their arts and crafts, a new stunt show in the outdoor amphitheater at park closing, as well as their usual terrific food offerings. So saddle up your horses and get ready for a ride! Edit: If you like photos, I have all of them from this trip in an album here. It's National Harvest Fest and I've got my teepee ready! It's all I need The festival features artists from all over, many will custom make something for you, just show them the money. Looks like TPR took the blue ribbon. But I'm sure you aren't reading this to learn about the festival, are you? Probably not, no. No no, you want to spark a wild fire under my rump And quit showing you pictures that everyone has in their collection. That's what you really want eh? Well ok then, spoil my fun why don't ya. The park must have known I was coming as they have parked a dump truck in front of my secret hole. I mean, it's better than an out house I suppose. The railings are complete, the painting looks like it's coming to and end, and they have started the work for what I assume is part of the queue. So now it's time to get in the stage coach. And get your sling shot ready because I'm about ready to launch this report straight into this pig. "If you pull the orange cable and you don't have a medical emergency, don't worry, we will be happy to provide you with one" Noted. Yup. For those keeping track at home, this will be my 28th ride of 2012 on the train. I'm pretty sure at this point I could get a job working on the rail line. Huh, I wonder what is around the bend? Looks like poles with cowboy hats. Ah, now I get it. The poles are practicing safety and have their hard hats on. Oh wow. The weather is turning and the leaves are falling Which is really good news. Because now you can see it! (Yes, this is a mandatory shot) The 'Top' track has been applied to the OMFG curve at the top, a sign that work is motoring right along. "Come nex yer I putz ma hands in de airz and gone weeeeeeeeeee!" The old iron horse seems to be a tad tired today. Perhaps she will need to stop and rest. The ladder is gone, I'm a little sad about that. But this makes me happy! This would be the overbank that dives under the lift...completed! This is going to be quite amazing. Seriously. And by the magic power of riding the train twice, I bring you the opposite side! They are doing a really nice job making it fit in. Woah there horsey, what is this? Holy crap, the ending is complete! And my dream has come true! The train has had to stop to build up steam which means picture taking is prime! Double Roll looks so much better without all those pesky leaves in the way! Did you know for every tree cut down, two were put in it's place? It's company policy. It's also company policy to build amazing attractions. The transfer table is in, but not motorized yet. It's also not fully bolted down. It makes things more interesting. My ladder! I've found you! But this train ride is coming to an end. Also coming to an end is the track work. According to www.silverdollarcity2013.com only a few hundred feet remain to be installed! That train ride made me hungry. So I'm gonna sit down, grab some grub, and ride on out. Noted! -
My two experiences at this park have been positive. The grounds were kept well, the rides and themes were nice and kid appropriate and they seemed to pack in the families and parties. Even in February at 8 at night the place was busy. Perhaps my visits were the exception to the rule and the wait for TTR was about 25 minutes, but I have no doubt this business model works. Replacing a worn out ride with a newer, 'kid' friendly attraction, probably isn't such a bad idea.

Photo Setup/Trip Report: Tulsa State Fair
chadster replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The lead inspector for Oklahoma is one of only a few who is national certified and the only one employed by a state government who is nationally certified. As such, they tend to be a tad more strict. In fact, they will be going to Arizona soon to inspect the rides that will be going to Tulsa ahead of time. Two years ago they told them not to bother bringing the fireball as it wouldn't be allowed on the grounds. Sure enough, it arrived, and sat parked and unpacked in the horse track. I *might* go out ahead of time this year and look at the inspection reports but doubtful I ride much if anything despite being able to walk in whenever I want and ride whatever(it helps to be employed in a position that allows me to do so) I just don't trust Murphy Brothers or their rides. I know wayyy too much about them to have that level of personal confidence one needs in carnival rides. On a side note, the Von Roll was getting a nice pressure washing today. -

I like that cedar fair is capitalizing on the planet snoopy brand and incorporating them into their parks in a consistent manner. Excellent marketing strategy as well, get kids to fall in love with the parks at an early age so they will continue to come until they are older than Jeff Johnson. -

Golden Ticket Awards 2012 Results
chadster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Three things I have noticed about these awards and as such discount them greatly, the host park, previous host park, and ace convention host park seem to get a few more votes I have yet to sign up to request to be a voter, but, I am assuming the voting does not take into consideration when the last time one was actually on a particular ride or at a particular park. -

Ok, so there are 16 entries for the drawing. Since there were really no rules to begin with and honestly I didn't find any of the captions to make me spit out my water, I decided to do two drawings instead of picking the funniest caption. Entries are based on the Mega Millions drawing tomorrow night. Matching the first ball drawn to your number assigned. If no number is drawn on the 01-16 range, well, I will make something else up, or just match column two, either way, two winners will receive some awesome stuff. Pretty sure this makes it not possible for someone to win twice, but in case it doesn't, you can't win twice. 01 - Sspaz1000 02 - Sspaz1000 Bonus for pg69 03 - PAL 04 - beatle11 05 - Big Mike 06 - Big Mike Bonus for pg69 07 - Chroniq 08 - Chroniq Bonus for pg69 09 - Packfanlv Bonus for pg69 10 - Packfanlv 11 - Fatdaddy Bonus for pg69 12 - Fatdaddy 13 - Jojo19799 Bonus for pg69 14 - Jojo19799 15 - triggernel Bonus for pg69 16 - triggernel 17 - The Yeti 18 - Chrisrad 19 - Sir Clinksalot Thanks to everyone who participated!! Edit: So the Mega Millions winning numbers presented a small challenge, they were 16, 32, 39, 41, 53 with a Megaball of 16. Therefore making it difficult to have two winners based on the numbers, so, making up the rules as I go along, because that's what I do, I have decided to add the winning number together to get 7 (actually it's what I had in mind anyway so I made it up a while ago) So what does all of this mean? It means that the two winners are tiggernel and Chroniq. Congrats I still don't know how he manages to win all the time, but he does. So, PM me you addresses and I will send you stuff. I think I have Chroniq's but it's lost in a 300 post chat conversation -

I'm sure that many of you noticed, but I will point out the obvious anyway. If you are standing in the station looking at the lift, you enter from your left, and exit the train to your right. Stairs run up behind the operators booth where you walk over the lift hill allowing for photo opportunities similar to Wildfire. After you cross over the bridge, just like Wildfire, you will dump into the gift shop and I imagine the photo hut as well. -

I just want to go to Mexico and Review Tacos....the kind with real cheese. I understand the meat used may be mystery but it's an acquired taste which any seasoned enthusiast should have by now. This will potentially be my third trip in as many years. I wouldn't continue to do them if 1. I didn't trust, and 2. I didn't have a good time. -

Howdy neighbors, Construction Chadster here bringing you the latest update on the movie theatre, erm, Outlaw Run! While there hasn't been too much in the way of track going in since media day, a ton of work has been completed on the station area. The 'Top' track is also now in place on the lift and drop. The park was packed today, and that's no joke. For anyone familiar with the park they were using tram stops 1-All which means every available space the park has. Ok, so enough chatter, let's take a look at what I have. Time to go Back to The Future. Where everyone who had fire in the hole waved to let you know. A time when people did things by hand. And used Rooster Flour. I know now! For some reason the park had a ton of cocks on display. Of all shapes and sizes. If you found one you didn't like, you could put it back and try another one. Everyone's taste is different and some taste different than others so variety is key. Apparently people like eating these on Sunday's. But I digress So choose the cock of your liking as we are in a hurry, no need to be picky, plenty more to choose from later... Crap. And we are here. Looks like they are getting a move on installing the top portion of the track. The railings are mostly finished as well. Lots of site work going on here. Which I can only guess is a good thing. Yup, still there. OMFG! I did manage to find a ladder though, so that's good. I was concerned there were no ladders. Tons of wood. (This is the turn after the train comes up the ravine and before it dives under the lift.) So confusing. Yet so awesome. Get ready we are about to go down and under! And we've gone under! Looks like a roll. Looks like it's coming out of a roll. Look, more porn! The color scheme of the building is more prevalent from this side. Looks like Mr. Spacely has installed the sprockets. Well most of them anyway Who says you can't get things to grow when it doesn't rain! Sticks have sprouted for the transfer track. Zooming in we see lighting is installed and a ton of other work going on. So there it is, getting all pretty for us. This week we stop by the bakery and watch them make some sort of roll with meat and cheese. No clue what it is, but it looks good. There you have it. Time for me to hit 88 MPH and head Back to The Future! -

They haven't set a price for next year, and while the price might change it will still be affordable. Season passes(gold) for 2013 are on sale and now include free parking for $90 which compared to Schlitterbahn KC at over $100, its a great deal. ^ Like I mentioned in the photo caption, it is going next to the wave pool. Nothing was mentioned about removing any slides. -
