  1. Ok, Pleasureless Pier it is, give me a few!
  2. With floods, tornado warnings, and damaging winds surrounding me I think, hey, maybe I can share some photos. Problem is, of what? Holliwood Nights Pleasureless Pier Random Zoo Sea World San Antonio Random Orlando/Tampa Stuff Ghetto Fairs If you act quick and let me know what you are hungry for(my bed time is early tonight as I travel early tomorrow) I might just post something up tonight...
  3. ^"Thank you for ride boomarang, medical outside gate to right." Probably the most fun I've had on one of those!
  4. Found me in the striped shirt with green hat waiting in line for pain and back re-alignment. Tons of others there as well!
  5. It was really amazing to say the least.
  6. The shoot the chutes ride, while still there, would cost up to and possibly over $1 million to move/rebuild(concrete is expensive) OzCat from what I'm told most likely won't go anywhere, and the tower, well...it's a shorty. I am really quite surprised that they might be moving the ride to Elitch, but then again I'm not. Elitch needs something new but it's been such a money pit at Magic. What was it, almost 2 years that it was down before they could get it up again? It might have only been a little over a year, regardless it was a long time. CNL seems to historically be on the cheap side with new attractions so I don't expect to see anything major out of them. I'm not an engineer, but it seems that using the chain to lower the ride back into the station causes a ton of wear and tear, some sort of magnetic system like the one Intamin uses could have possibly been a option.
  7. I sent them a message to inquire. On a related but unrelated note I noticed they were also filming at Silverwood end of the month facebook
  8. They ripped it out last year in preparation for 'something new'
  9. ^No different than my life in general
  10. Recently I embarked on an epic 2 week adventure that took me to Haunt @ WOF, shot an update on the construction of Outlaw Run at Silver Dollar City, flew to Houston and visited the Zoo and ITz (BTW: the credit whoring opportunity is now gone, nada, zero, it's been removed), spent the night in a beach front room in Galveston, quick flight to San Antonio to visit Sea World and process my pass before catching another flight to Orlando for 5 days at WDW, Busch, Sea World, Fun Spot, World of Beer, EPCOT's 30th, Dave and Busters, and World of Beer. I ended the trip at World of Beer with Jake. At midnight. On his 21st.To celebrate his first ever drink. and then made my way home. When the plane landed I cried knowing that I had a date with the State Fair in this run down crap hole of a town. The lady sitting next to me asked if I was glad to be home. No, I said, I'd rather play a nice game of what's in my mouth with Piers than be here. With a puzzled look on her face she said sorry to hear that. Me too, I replied, me too. And now I present, Chris Con: A Journey to EPCOT Chris Con's journey to EPCOT started at the crack of dawn on Oct 1st, a journey that had many twists and turns, a journey that at times would get him lost, a journey that would have him forget everything that happened, and a journey that begins here. Chris deduces that we must be near EPCOT as this time of year they host Food and Wine, and where there is Food and Wine, there are people who enjoy Food and Wine. Pausing for a brief moment to think, Chris asked for directions to EPCOT from Mr. Dinosaur. This way, Chris says, through this field we will find EPCOT. "See" Chris says, "This giant pile of poop proves we are getting close to EPCOT's International Food and Wine Festival" Following his senses, Chris led us to water, but I refused to drink. We stopped for a moment to consult a map, but the map was obviously just someones fantasy. So up we went into a Haunted Tower, a Tower that didn't assist much in finding our way. Then steps in Mr. Potato Head whom Chris knew well. Mr. P Head tells us to follow him. So follow him we did. Mr. Potato Head came through bringing us in through the rear entry. EPCOT at last Chris exclaims and quickly runs to the first country he sees. Belgium. But whilst at Belgium we ran into Bean. Bean, like his daddy, likes Belgium. But Chris' Journey through Epcot was just beginning. Many challenges would face him throughout the day, like sharks. And Beverley. But as the evening wore on Chris developed a passion to visit each Country. And whilst in each country he would need photographic proof of his visit. Chris' keen since of direction lead us to EPCOT so how could I not travel the world with him? So we met up with the locals who gave us great advice on where to visit next. The locals said we might want to try out the Country of Florida, so off we went. Apparently people get married in Florida. Obviously Florida no longer has 72 virgins. Also in the Country of Florida was Jenn and Steve who gave us great advice as to where to go next. In fact, they agreed to join us on this Journey. A quick step to China found an avid pin collector. But for some reason Chris enjoyed Singapore, so back we went. Mainly because the people of Singapore are quite friendly. But when I least expected it Chris commandeered by camera. And went to seek advice from wise men. Men that could possibly lead us to the best countries on earth. Instead they led us to two of the best chef's on earth. Who informed us that duck was a very popular meat. So, Chris attempted to lour the duck over with Sam Adam's After a nice meal of duck, Chris went further on his journey of getting advice from the locals. The locals were quite helpful. Many willing to share their wisdom, their wisdom on night time activities. So lead the way sayeth Chris. Professor Popandlock(that would be the dog) was none to thrilled to be talking with Chris. So Chris decided to surf the web... ...and take a moment to reflect on where this journey would lead next. Jenn was starting to get slightly upset with Chris' indecisiveness but I convinced her he was a wise man, a man of much knowledge, a man that would lead her to the promise land. So off we went with bean flying through customs. Where we visited yet another country. But then the rains came and we all gathered under Renee's tiny umbrella to stay dry. Good things really do come in small packages. Meanwhile over in Europe. Steve takes a quick look at the map to see what country we have not yet been to. Ah ha he says. Mexico we go! And Mexico we went Not sure what country this was in, by now I'm just following the leader. But what I do know is night was falling. So we got great seats for this show called 'World of Color' Which was quite epic. But then I was told by the wise one that this was EPCOT's 30th Birthday! Unfortunately Chris got lost in Italy on yet another Journey of which Renee and Jenn headed up a search team to find him. Too bad he missed out on these amazing fireworks. And so it ends, Chris' Journey to EPCOT. We visited 14 countries, chatted with the locals, hung out with awesome friends, and made amazing memories. This is what life is all about. Chris Con: A Journey to EPCOT could not have been possible without the assistance from Andrew and Kaleen. Thanks guys! Promotional consideration was brought to you by BEER. That's B.E.E.R. Tada! That's it. That's all she wrote. Why are you still reading this? Why not just post a comment? Go on, you know you want to. Just do it. Bye.
  11. X had been neutered over the years to save on parts and downtime, i.e. it only ran about half it's intended ride cycle and it's been a problematic ride with less than stellar maintenance and up time under previous management. The rides side in general is really nothing to write home about, an SLC, mouse, mine train, kiddie coaster, and Arkansas Twister(which is a decent out and back minus the trains) and several carnival style flats. Save for Arkansas Twister I really didn't care to re-ride anything there. That being said, when you mix in the water side you had a nice recipe for success with vibrant grounds and decent food offerings. I won't be sad to see X-Coaster go bon voyage, it wasn't that great, but I am thrilled CNL is investing in the park for continued growth. Doubt you will ever see a huge Intamin or B&M go in that park, but I could see MACK doing something nice in the future.
  12. ^Not during haunt, but during the day.
  13. And here we go. Back on Sept 22 (Sorry, I'm lame and late but I've also been on a two week journey of epicness) I was able to attend a VIP Haunt event at WoF. Good food and good drinks were provided. This year the park opened their newest Haunt, Zombie High, an 80's themed 'Saved by the Bell' type Haunt with a creepy twist. I'll have descriptions of the haunts I hit up in the foto's below. The park itself looked nice in it's haunt outfit and was quickly filling with people as the overflow lot was being utilized. Inside thousands of people gathered for the parade some 2 hours early. Wait times for haunts hit 2 hours during the peak times but cold weather swooped in around midnight which drove the crowds away. By the end of the night Haunt waits were less than 30 minutes. Last year the park was using any space they could find to park cars. Asked about why they didn't use Ocean's parking and it was because they were parking employees there. This year however that has changed. Saturday's ONLY you can park and enter via Oceans of Fun. With the added parking the park should easily fill to capacity and when that happens I highly recommend getting Fright Lane. It's $25 on Friday and $30 on Saturday. This does NOT give you FOL access to the rides, only 6 of the 7 haunts. Vampire does not have FOL abilities. Despite the lines for the haunts, using my Fright Lane pass I was able to complete 6 of the haunts in 90 minutes, skipping Vampire, I hate lines. So, after I was done, everyone else was waiting in Haunt Lines and I was able to Marathon PROWLER! and Patriot. Yay. Oh, and before the foto, I should mention that the park may announce this month more of next years planned attractions so keep an eye out for any markers or clues Mr. Spider is creeping people out of Patriot This park seems to have a problem with drunks An awesome kids area is open during the day for some not so scary fun The peddle cars are cool. I want one Interesting, but did not see. Now Mr. Spider is attacking Boomerang! Bad Mr. Spider, bad Doll factory is, um dolled up? The cutest scaractors in the park, I never really have much liked this one. Walk in the front of the 'store' through the inventory room, and on to the messed up factory. Compared to the other haunts, this one no longer measures up in my book. The cut up barbie dolls do nothing for me. But then again, I'm there for the girls, and well, even creepy looking I might would date a few of them, afterall, I seem to migrate towards the crazy ones. Ok, food time. With creative naming. Om nom nom nom Pretty awesome actually. I think I sipped on 4 rum and coke's, erm, Pepsi (Is Coke in the park's future? One can hope!) Let's see, where to go, where to go The parks was incredibly packed today, last time I trust Brandon "It' won't be that busy in September" Stanley But before the overload pops out, I'll give some love to a few rides that normally don't get any. Because at some point, we all need to get some...recognition that is. Ooo Ooo it's parade time! The overload has called the creepes out and summons the goons And here they come The nurse is very naughty, just an FYI, she carries a whip...she used it on me. New for this year are banners distinguishing the various haunts and fright zones It also gives you a good chance to see the incredible makeup Go back to London, you you you, just go back to London. Creep. My new girlfriend from London. I was told since she win the slums I could have her Ok, on to the Fright Zones Honestly because Planet Snoopy was still going... And Timber Wolf dumps in to Carnevil, the lights took away from some of the scarey. But still well put together Ok, let's get to the haunts! Oh my, maybe not. Pro Tip: After the parade, go to your left Fright Zone near Africa Line for Zombie High, stretched from the PROWLER! Queue all the way back to the shooting game at the entrance to Africa. Spooky... Over at Asylum the nurse was whipping me. Still in my opinion the best haunt there, Zombie High for me is #2. Asylum takes you through, well, a creepy asylum, think NY Slum ghetto low went government housing then add on a defunct vacation mental hospital that the staff up and left the patients to fend for themselves. It's pretty awesome Cornstalkers has its normal great scares...those guys blend in well! Zombie high was a nice addition. Think 80's saved by the bell. You walk into a run down office, head to the principal's office and out into the hallway that leads you through various classrooms, a prom gone bad in the gym, and a locker rooms that's utterly disgusting. For only the 4th night in operation, they were doing a helluva job. Boo The fog looks amazing at night with the moon in the background. Down there is London Terror. Walk through the creepy streets of london encountering various bums and creeps. The most interactive of all of the haunts. Bloodshed received a few changes gone is the hanging meat, something I welcome. You still enter and pretend you are there for pig, but end up able to buy arms, legs, heads, and other items if you so choose. Don't have it, they will cut it up for you, of course, you will have to sacrifice yourself, but hey, at least they are customer friendly. Meanwhile over at Carnevil the clowns were out spooking people. Even Thunderhawk was acting all spooky So there you have it, a very packed night. Each Saturday from now until the end of October you can park and enter via Oceans of Fun in the evening. Trust me, every available parking space the park has and then some will be taken on Saturday Nights so get there early. It's one of, if not the top Haunt in the chain and the packed park proves it. Also this year the fright lane passes have improved pricing. $30 for Saturday and $25 for Friday. So get out and enjoy a frightful night before the season ends! You won't be disappointed!
  14. I appreciate you staying late!! Had a blast!
  15. Shamu's Express! - SWO Actually it's Kraken, but Shamu's Express is a close second.
  16. E-Mail sent for SFOT - both days
  17. Just received an email from the park.....all of the track is now in place! Of course the top cover plate must still be attached to the majority if the ride but this is exciting news! Could testing begin before the cold winter sets in? Maybe! More info can be found at www. Silverdollarcity2013.com
  18. ^They hope to have the circuit completed this week, then they have place the cover/top on and they seem to be about 20% complete with that. The chain, electrical, sensors, transfer table, ride system also still needs to be installed. Purely from appearance it looks as if it could be done by Nov 1, but one never knows as they spent a ton of time on track alignment on NTAG. that's what she said!
  19. Thanks! It's comments like yours and everyone else's that makes the expense of getting the updates worth it!
  20. At least we might be able to answer that one question about the Smurf's that all of us have...
