Chadster's Vacation Adventures: Final Edition!
chadster replied to chadster's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
New Year, New Adventure! I made it to closing day for the 2012 season at SFOT for my annual pilgrimage to Anton's Holy Shrine: Shockwave. And possibly checkout the rest of the park. Shockwave looks great in it's new colors as does the bobsled thingy. Not much in terms of getting the site ready for the 400ft tall monster, but I'm sure that won't start for a few more weeks. So what do you say, let's get to it! Meh, close enough. Hello La Vibrator Back Killer Chiropractor Thingamajig. You are looking fantastic. I'm actually very impressed. Up to the front gate we go. Hey, wait just a @^@#$^(@#^&) minute! WTH?!?! Fingerprint scanners have made there way to SFOT, but apparently the public is too stupid to understand how it works and they weren't being used when I got there. I guess there is always next season. Anyway, be on the look out for them at a park near you. Nice chilly afternoon for some Bunny's and Comic Book Hero's Pando has lost it's screen since my last visit. Oh well, no big loss really. I mean seriously, I'm probably the ONLY one that has noticed it's gone. It did nothing for the ride under it's now, 3rd new name. Adventure Theater presents: Holiday in the park is known for two things, Food (the kind made by outside vendors that's really freaking amazing) And the closure of Mr Freeze and Batman. The park is JAMMED especially on Saturday. I really hope the park considers throwing the cold weather wheels on Batman next year. They could use the ride capacity. Anyway, before we go visit the shrine, how about some construction. I guess you can call it cleaning up. Or call it abandoned. I call it dirt. Anyway, it's now time to visit Anton's Holy Shrine, this year with more green. Lots and lots of bright glorious green. If this doesn't turn you on, honestly, I don't know what will. (And please, don't tell me) She's been cleaned up, greased up, and ready to please. Just look at those curves. Perfectly shaped in every way. What a great set of legs. They just don't make them like they used to. It's like fine wine. Are you green with envy of me yet? The best set I've seen to date. That's a whole lot of sex appeal there. I think I need a shower, too bad the flume is closed. But looks like there are some lights to look at. I seriously hope they have already taken some of them down because the lighting was kinda sad and pathetic. You know, like you. I mean yeah. Moving on. So I had taken video of the loading process. But, there is so much of it out there it wasn't worth my time to render and upload. I mean if you want to see it, tell me, if I get enough yay's I will. Timed at about 2:10 from entrance to exit. You can see that a new button panel has been added on a stand next to the main control panel. Good night sorta new Texas Giant. Goodnight green superman, see you March 2nd. -
They can, and do when they want to unless it has already cleared the last guide wheel in the station. I actually can see this working, but I'm sure they will screw it up somehow. Basically they will be able to run 3 trains in peak season. That's the goal. One train will always be on course, somewhere, one loading, and one coming off course. Once the train coming off course is pushed close it will creep up behind the train in front that should be finished loading the last row and within seconds they can begin off loading and loading. If a lapbar doesn't register properly, and I've witnessed this, the panel op can stop the train on the transfer track(obviously it's not going much further without the computer going nuts), fix, and then let it roll off. I say roll off because, well, that's what it basically does, the motors on the table don't seem to have any gusto whatsoever. I see the concept, I see with the addition this short off season of the front and last row lines, that it can work, they just have to let it work and not try to cheap it. I do, however, see lockers becoming required for large bags and items. And really, that's not such a bad thing.

^I thought that was the Star Flyer over there /sarcasm and pointless comment. -
That one Team Member works for Flash Pass Well that still seems pointless considering the website says you can't use Flash Pass on NTAG. Regular and Gold passes are not valid for NTAG. Platinum passes are and have been since the relaunch in some form. The website hasn't been accurate in that respect since re-opening.

The lights really bring the park to life at night, I love it. About 45 I really wanted to hang it on the big tree but since that's a no no, I thought this was the next best choice -

HO! HO! HO! It's Santa Chadster bringing you holiday cheer from the City. Today I bring you some things old, some things new, and some things that will bring you happiness. So get your sleigh ready as it's time to visit and Old Time Christmas (and Outlaw Run too perhaps) As usual, my full album can be found by clicking. This sleigh has just pulled in to the City To see what Santa will be giving us for being good coaster enthusiasts Peeking through the sticks I think I just may have spotted what's to be placed under the tree Looks like a lovely Christmas gift But wait, there's more?!?! Aunt Polly's restaurant has bit the dust. Literally. To make way for something unique for next year. What will it be you ask? Well...you'll have to wait a wee bit longer Meanwhile looks like the roof is on over at the BBQ house. Also a nice nerd shot for Intamin peeps Of course right around the bend from all that excitement is our Christmas gift for next year. Much of the concrete work is complete and the queue shade structure looks to be painted and awaiting it's chuck wagon covering. It also would appear that the lift chain is in. Word around the city is that was a very recent addition. To give those not familiar with the park a different perspective of where the ride sits, this is taken from the Giant Barn Swing looking towards the round house Elsewhere around the city you will find many of the lights that won them a ton of awards this year. Over 4 million lights, give or take Something that doesn't get much love is the flooded mine, an awesome indoor floating shooting dark ride. Prancer has an antlerring Yes, please talk to your fowl mouthed critter. First time ever on the Christmas Train. True story. It's a sing a long train with songs like Jingle Bells and Frosty The better you sing, the better the gift. See, the gates are open. I must have sung well. FA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA How nice of the trees to have shed their leaves. Just imagine yourself here next spring coming out of this insane overbank Yup. That drop has me all bothered right now...moving on. Yup, just a few more months away. It's Santa! And grandpa who tells us all a little story. Hi Keg, how's it goin'? For some reason, I like these artistic shots. They are now mandatory. Meanwhile the safety fencing is going up. Still a ton of work going on in this area. And just as luck would have it, fencing is going up around the transfer table. Crews were actively looking at it They must be government workers...I would know... So yeah there's that. Now it's time for... The lights! It really is my favorite time of the year to visit the park. Night rides and lights just add something special. The park also has a nightly parade that begins with Santa She smiled and waved at me. I blushed. Look it's the Frisco! And winding up the show. Note: Saturday's are the absolute busiest time to visit the park. Thursday's or a cold Sunday are the best times to visit this time of year if you are looking for lighter crowds. Even the Coke stand is dressed for the occasion! I am for Outlaw Run! Pretty. Living Nativity Show lives here. I have yet to see any of the Christmas shows at the park. I should fix that next week. Well, that's all folks! Time to hitch a ride on this here train and head to the house. Until next time! -

All gone. -
I am partial to the train ride at Silver Dollar City, of course after dozens of rides this year I wonder why... The train at Waldameer runs at a snails pace, I could probably crawl faster. At Sandy Lake the old man who runs the train stops to tell stories and depending on what time of year it is they pass out candy and have visits by the appropriate seasonal character. Great small park charm. The train at SFOT is kinda meh as is WoF's. One day I hope to get back to Dollywood and give their's a try.

Pretty sure this serves as the official announcement that Dino's Alive will be the new attraction on the theme park side for 2013 -
This is why I believe the RMC system will be solid, reliable, and better than GG's version. I thought Ravine was quite rough for its age and with Waldameer looking at a re-track, as Holiday World is doing, I just don't have faith that their system will hold up. Hades hands down could be a great ride, but the track is crap, in no small part thanks to Mt O.

^Sorry about that, we've been getting some things finalized and worked out, but I am happy to announce that the exclusive opportunity has just been posted to the ClubTPR forum! Club members have the opportunity to ask SDC Management, Construction, and Rocky Mountain's Fred Grub ANYTHING they want pertaining to Outlaw Run. The questions will be asked during a video tour of the site late this month. So what are you waiting for? Saddle up and ride over the TPR Club forum and get to askin'!
