  1. No we're *cough*rocky mountain*cough* not
  2. Amusement parks and fair grounds no longer seem to be a winning combination, come to think of it, were they really ever? Either way, if Hart continues forward he's not gonna let it fail as he would have a much more invested interest in it's success. It might not draw the crowd size of KI, but with a large enough water park expansion and a few really good rides, it could be a money maker.
  3. Sorry, but I'm not buying the it was their first one excuse.
  4. ^I've been ridin' her dirty and puttin' her away wet
  5. Mid week typically means lighter crowds(yay!) and if during the summer (well duh if it's mid week!) then I don't know that it matters much as complete vacations can be planned around it.
  6. It's great to parks improving themselves.
  7. ^I'm with ya. I just can't fathom why if Gravity knew way in advance that HW wanted the trains that they couldn't deliver them in time. That raises serious questions for me.
  8. Should the timberliners not make the cut, the trains on Outlaw Run are really nice and I think would work very nice on Voyage. I mean, they do go upside down not to mention 90 degrees. (And while you're at it, maybe RMC can take a look at the ride and smooth it out a bit!)
  9. There is just something about how that is being built that says, oh hell no.
  10. Pretty sure the water from the restrooms is re-used on Roaring Rapids as part of the water reclamation laws kicked in due to the drought. but don't worry the water is treated and filtered, I'm also bull sh**ing about the restroom water
  11. Well much to my surprise maintenance has unf--ked Mr. Freeze, good thing premier built in the winch at the top of the spike. FYI, when the pumps on Roaring Rapids are cut the water naturally drains into a holding pond. They don't put fresh water in everyday. It's how all of them are built.
  12. It's Six Flags, so about a week. I'm sure they won't shell out for a rent-a-crane over the weekend but by Monday/Tuesday they should have it off. First Giant then Freeze. Wonder if we can somehow score with Titan next.
  13. Seems to be a common theme. Glad I didn't go today. Perhaps tomorrow they will have it un-f---ed. Is the Oil Derek open? Slight breeze in Plano which makes me think it's not(I have a project that involved the tower being open to complete...) Nah, it's Six Flags.
  14. Today I bring you a fun little report from SFOT shot over the past few weeks where the main focus will be the non-erect Scy Skreamer and the Takis Express. What's the Takis Express you ask? Well the park seems to have re-branded the Texas Giant. It started last year, but they've gone full tilt this year stopping just short of wraps on the trains. (Crap. I might have just gave them an idea) Anyway, time to saddle up and head out into the park! I arrived late last Saturday and being as it was still a tad busy, roamed around the park and found a shot that is rarely seen on the interwebz. I rather like it. Seems like a quality production. Over at ShockWave, the moon is out Just can't seem to get enough. Even HawkPanoSpin is looking good today. Note: Have not been on this in over a year. So about two weeks ago this was what was going on over at Scy Skreamer. You can see they had part of a section on the ground attaching the inner supports. Old Glory shining through the sections. New ADA compliant pathways lead to the queue house. And concrete curing going on over here. As the crowds started to thin out, I went over to pray and found something interesting... Not one, but TWO strollers on the loading platform...WTF? This lady even had the goods to pass the stroller OVER the train to the unload side where she then had to WALK the stroller DOWN THE STAIRS! OMFG! Even Anton was in disbelief! But as night fell, the Bat signal went up As did the flags on the new funnel cake building. The signage looks a lot better than the banners up opening weekend. And in honor of TPR being in Mexico, I decided to join them. But quickly ran back across the boarder to find this RMC work of art. Quite the beauty eh? I think so. Fast forward a week and I'm back! Well, fast forward to yesterday in fact! Remember how I pointed out in the opening weekend report that the arcade was open yet you wouldn't know it because a bunch of crap was in the way? Well, the next weekend they moved most of it so you can now see the arcade. Proof parks read this site. Incidentally, today is brought to you by Takis. Over at Scy Skreamer, more columns have been erected, but it would appear they still have several more to go. Wood is a very useful material. The spiny part is put together towards the back. I'm only guessing they are putting some sort of gift shop in behind the glass. And there is the slab, still there, electrical work going on, but that's about it. So, lets head over to the Takis Express, shall we? This is just the pre-show Random NTAG height check stick(still there from ride opening...a few years ago) Hello Takis Express! Three years later you still have to purchase a Plat Q-Bot to get on the Takis Express So let's go for a ride, shall we? Down the queue we go. Takis Takis, everywhere there's Takis Ok Sure. Yawn. You poor poor ride. MAKE IT STOP! Takis Express, come out come out where ever you are There you are! Yes, even the station is decorated. Seriously. They must have been give one giant bucket full of cash. So after riding this modern marvel...we go down the exit ramp... Next thing they will paint the station in Takis colors. Whoever printed these signs made a fortune. AGH! There is overkill and then there is overkill. This is complete and total overkill. Worse than wrapping trains if that's even possible. Perhaps all that money they are pulling in from Takis is paying for Scy Skreamer. So not only do rows two and three on Titan now have the zipper compartments for your crap (Huge Kudos to the park on the zipper pouches, dispatch times are much faster now) but the new Kodak hut/gift shop is pretty much at a standstill. Anything look familiar? This is what most Six Flags employees think! Finally I leave you all with this. Newly sprouted this year all over the park and at many rides and attractions. They are super serious about this and are even pulling a Cedar Fair stop the train on the lift, and if you are caught, you get to have a nice meeting with security and park management. Not sure what other Six Flags parks are doing, but chest mounted go-pros and glasses with cameras are also forbidden. In other words...DON'T FILM ON ANY OF THEIR RIDES! Next time I will bring you low riders, tacos, and hot Mexican girls!
  15. I'm pretty sure some of you remember how I ripped this park a new one last year on one of my PTRs not to mention the taco experience With that said, the park at the time wasn't a lost cause but it looked to be headed that way. It's refreshing to see money being sunk(finally) into the rooms at the hotel, rides being serviced and receiving fresh parts, not to mention all of the various rides receiving fresh paint this year. It was a shame to see what the park had become on my first visit, including the valley in the tunnel on lost, but after seeing and hearing first hand all of the work that is going into the park this off season I will certainly give them a second chance.
  16. ^Come on Chuck, you know you want the 79.99 all you can crap chicken strip meal deal!
  17. ^Costco called, they are pissed that you compared them to Six Flags. Sams Club also called, they are pissed you didn't compare them to Six Flags
  18. Live from Six Flags....Hate to disappoint but Sky Screamer is NOT vertical, rather sections are being put together in prep to raise it. I thought it was a bit soon after the last concrete pour... Foundation is poured and ready
  19. This news is most encouraging, perhaps this long shot stand up inverted hyper woodie will be available for this years holiwood nights? Please send pictures!
  20. ^Lo-q's QBand has been in some water parks for a while now and I haven't heard of any complaints. Being as CF has a very low cap on the number of these that they sell, you probably won't even notice it, especially at WOF where I hardly ever see people use fast lane save for Halloween.
  21. I could see this being a good test. I think overall $30/$35 is a good price for front of line for this park and I'm glad to see that this year CF has decided to not have a one price fits all across the chain. I understand the theory behind why they went that route but as any system grows, it changes. I'm for this change. I haven't checked other combo parks but would like to see the same at KI and KD, it adds that much more value to the program.
