  1. I have confirmed with my sources that the ride is not going anywhere, no need to worry or speculate on that. The park spent 5 years and millions of dollars on track rehab, train refurbishment, and the obvious, fresh paint (All of this accounted for much of the downtime over the last several years at the beginning of the season) Once the ride is ready for operation it will re-open, no time frame has been set. Like my mom use to say when asked when dinner will be ready, 'it'll be ready when its ready' Plenty of other great rides at the park, no need to let this one ride deter a visit(although I can see how it could be a legit reason, I often would get on first thing Sunday and not get off for an hour or more). Freeze is running great this year and don't forget about Runaway Mountain, not many parks have completely lights out coasters these days! Night rides on Sky Screamer are also a trip with no lights on the tower!
  2. I'll take Intamin train over PTC train for 1k, Alex.
  3. The park is putting on a special nighttime event that includes one on one time with Outlaw Run, like Holiwood nights, you must be a member of a coaster club to attend. Details are in the club forum for those interested.
  4. ClubTPR members should check out the club forum
  5. With the current station configs, I doubt you'll see that without some medium level renovation.
  6. ^Yeah it was legit, thanks for the heads up on it!
  7. It's TACO TUESDAY and that means another Taco Adventure. Today's adventure takes me to Valleyfair amusement park where we go Coasting for Kids for Give Kids the World Village. It was quite the crappy weather day with rain coming and going, but despite not having my beloved poncho we had a great time. The park itself, and the Planet Snoopy area in particular, was super clean, visually pleasing, and for a smaller park had a great balance of rides with Renegade being the signature attraction. Corkscrew I'm told was painted in the last few years and looks great in contrast to the new Planet Snoopy. The lack of asphalt in the park added to the crisp look and feel. The group in for Coasting for Kids spent 2.5 hours on Renegade, a solid GCI with a surprise pop of air off the second drop, and Wild Thing, a ride that pelted us with tiny rain needles for 4.5 hours. All total there were 31 laps on Renegade and 68ish laps on Wild Thing, and no, I didn't do all the laps. Hit 30 on renegade and about 50 on Wild Thing(they wouldn't let me take my pillow) At the end of the event we were greeted by the Mayor of the Village and got to meet several families who benefited from our efforts. And of course after the event concluded the sun came out helped end the day on a high note. Oh yeah, and their might have been some tacos, or taco like meal to end the day... And here we are, at Valleyf air to coast for kids...in the rain! Griff is a real American hero. We salute you, Mr. American flag guy. So yeah, we rode Renegade in the sprinkling rain. So everyone pretty much tried to keep their phones dry, as a result, we move on to coaster #2...also in the rain. But before we hit it for 4.5 hours, one must hydrate. and then we ride! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! So after countless laps we headed over to pass out goodies and meet families and their kids who stayed at the Village YAY! The sun is finally out! Now we can all go dry out and check out the rest of the park!! Planet Snoopy looks freaking awesome! It even has a cool place to let your bitch take a leak They did a great job on the area, fantastic addition. And of course you will also find this old school coaster featuring NO SEAT DIVIDER and BUZZ BARS! Yay!! Fun old skool ride with BUZZ BARS!! Corkscrew was state of the art in it's time. And although it's a quick ride, it wasn't all that bad. And with it's new color scheme... ...it really makes the area come together. The shot/drop towers to me are the parks iconic ride being able to see it for some distance and marks the center of the park. So yeah, it's also photogenic, so you get to see it multiple times. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't talk JoJo into walking through Dino's Alive, nor could I talk her into going on Tidal Wave. Oh well. Meanwhile out in the parking lot, this mexican family set up shop. Back in the park folks were hanging ten This himalaya style ride was quite nice, shocking it was ran with some level of force! But the sun was starting to set... ...which produced some nice shots... ...as the lights started to come on. And as our day at the park came to end... and the last spins for the night were completed... we hoped on our horses... ...and headed for the border. No. Not 'On the Border' That will never make it to Taco Adventures. Good night Valleyfair You are certainly the kind of park I'd like to have near...but man...I'm hungry. After a hard day at the park JoJo and I went down the street from the hotel to this legit joint, Poor Richard's Commonhouse, were beer bong is served. Along with beer. But as for tacos, I veered off here and went for the blackened chicken queso. Quite delish indeed. So when you come to Minneapolis put ValleyFair on your list and be sure to stop by Poor Richards for some beer pong and some legit food. Until the next Taco Tuesday...stay hungry my friends.
  8. So what do you say we put the why is ShockWave down questions to rest. It's officially down for needed maintenance. No need to keep asking why or when it will re-open as parks never release the reason why a ride is down. Rest assured that it will not reopen until until the needed maintenance is completed, which won't be anytime soon. Should the park release an expected reopen date it will be posted here.
  9. ^Yes. Rocky Mountain will be building the worlds first wooden water coaster that goes up side down 6 times, splashes down twice, and floats through a dark portion that takes you around the world in 80 days.
  10. I can confirm that Wild Kitty was replaced with the one that was formerly at Elitch, an identical model. A$ far a$ the tower$ coming down, well, thing$ happen!
  11. Remember, a season pass gets you $10 off so even if you go for regular it won't be all that expensive!
  12. Will you stop blaming other people for the fact that YOU DIDN'T READ THE INFORMATION!!!! You're like one of those people on our trips who show up late for the bus and try to blame us for not communicating what time it was leaving and all I can respond back is "49 other people seemed to have heard me loud and clear. Seems to be a case of 'user error.'" --Robb "Take some personal responsibility that you didn't read and stop blaming the park." Alvey Nice to meet you, too. You still out at SFSTL? I would imagine not since I was the one there...but since you read the report...you already know that.
  13. This is really awesome. I hope the locals takes note and support them well into the future.
  14. Yesterday was media day at Six Flags St. Louis celebrating the opening of their 9th coaster, the Boomerang, and I was there for TPR covering all the action! While Boomerang may have once lived at another park, it has undergone an extensive rehab that has it riding, looking, and operating like no other. The color scheme is easily one of the best I've seen and settles in perfectly with Superman, the StarFlyer, and Tidal Wave. The ride itself is quite smooth thanks to electric motors that have replaced the traditional hydraulic motor as well as a new ride control system that brings the train to a comfortable stop. Ron McKenzie, the parks Director of Marketing, tells me they have been looking at options for some time to increase their coaster offerings and that Boomerang was the perfect option to complement the other rides in this section of the park. Guests are also excited as its the parks first new coaster since American Thunder opened in 2008. Ron is working hard to bring events and entertainment to the park and tells me in July they will host a coasting into the night event. When we get the full details we'll be sure to pass them on, but expect that to happen towards the end of July. After the event I walked around the park and I must say it looks really good from freshly painted buildings, landscaping, and overall feel. You can really tell that the management at this park has a sense of ownership and pride and I doubt they are going to stop anytime soon. Six Flags St. Louis now has more coasters than any other park in the state of Missouri making it the Coaster Capital of Missouri. So be sure to stop by this season and check out all the fantastic things they have going on and don't forget to grab a seat on the Boomerang! Here is our awesome video of the Boomerang! SHARE it with your friends! Say Hi to Six Flags St. Louis' 9th coaster! The color scheme is really quite nice And so is the setting! Super smooth Loopy! These guys are getting their thrill on. And here is the Park's President getting his thrill on! So I know what you are thinking. How in the world did they get the ride so smooth. Well, I'm going to share with you the secret. Electric motors. This baby allows the parks maintenance staff not only increase the speed of the initial lift but also allows them to gently lower the catch car so no more clunking! And increased speed up the hill means increased ride capacity! Seriously, this little dude hauls same tail up the hill. Once at the top, he gently releases the train and off you go All thanks to this guy. Oh, and Rick too perhaps. After-all, it was his idea to scrap the old hydraulic motor. You know that giant clunk on the second hill? Well with the help of the new electric motor up there, and with some tweaking and programming, that will soon be gone as well! Muwahahaha. Ok, last nerdy fun fact. The rides new control system is wireless. Yup, wireless, meaning maintenance can take their tablet like device with them and open/close brakes, run the various other things, and finish their daily inspection faster all from the palm of their hand. Pretty cool eh? The local Fox station was on hand to try all the different foods on the dining plan. And I must say, the healthy items looked really good! With 40 items to choose from the dining plan is a good bargain for those who frequent the park weekly. The entry sign looks nice. and for those of you who like reading the rules before you go Behind Boomerang sits Screamin Eagle, still screamin after all these years! After the media event I crossed the tracks... ...to check out the rest of the park and it's looking really good 5 years old this year and still running great Paws up little monsters For those of you on the tour this year, I did the leg work for you. Your Welcome. You'll find the aforementioned location near Mr. Freeze. Reverse Blasting Freeze had a nice line But if you have your FlashPass, no need to worry! Dark ride lovers rejoice! If you need to cool off you can stop by this awesome looking Coke stand...or... ...you can take your chances on the raft ride Want to ride like a boss? You're in luck! SFStL has you covered! Also introduced at the park, the continuous loading Pandemonium! Yes, that's right folks! This new system has worked so well they are now able to run all cars, all the time increasing capacity to 700+ people per hour! Just another thing that makes this park stand out! But of course it's not all about the coasters, the park has several flat rides to choose from. Like the mini swing Sorry, I had to. You can also get scrambled or take it easy on the carousel One thing is for certain, the park has something for everyone so get on out to Six Flags St. Louis, you'll be glad you did!
  15. Media day coverage coming up later tonight!
  16. Hmmm, funny on the log ride, IRM has it up for sale!
  17. ^Glad you got to experience one of the two modes I held out on in the media report
  18. cool, guess they started locking it, can't say I blame them.
  19. Unless they just put that up within the last few weeks, pretty much. People have been storing in there for as long as I can remember with signage in the picnic areas pointing you to that area for storage. Of course it's at your own risk.
  20. At the old gas station in the parking lot.
  21. Being as June 8th is a Saturday and most schools in the surrounding area are now out for the year I would highly advise saving my pennies for a Gold Pass, it will be worth it. That being said, if you do get a GP, haul over to NTAG first thing or wait until 2-3 hours before park closing to let the line die down. If you don't get the pass, be prepared to wait for the majors >60 minutes. It will get hot in the day, so Mr. Freeze will be your friend as it's ice cold this year. Shockwave is currently closed.
  22. ^Pretty sure that voicing your opinion won't get you banned as long as it's presented in a nice, constructive manner; beating a dead horse, now that's a different story. Fred has said he doesn't care what you call his coasters, as long as they are fun and exciting.
