  1. Considering NTAG does not yet have a new ride inspection sticker issued, I'm taking that with a grain of salt.
  2. Surprise! Holiday world wins Cleanest Part and Best Water Ride (Wildebeest) at Golden Ticket Awards
  3. ^Huh? Since they purchased WOF, they've added three new coasters two of which were no less than 10 million, a new planet snoopy and all the new rides that came with that, a kick ass refurbished carousel, and now they've been given Windseeker which they'd have gotten anyway had they not had so many issues with the others, not to mention a new haunt building(which is now being copied at other CF parks), new water slides, a refurbished water park, and a slew of other improvements. A park need not a mega coaster every two years to not have a major investment placed in it. Planet Snoopy has been a huge hit as has the water park additions and rehab. Added together they've spent more than $50 million just on rides and attractions!
  4. ^^Your chances of getting on Shockwave next week are greater than getting on NTAG.
  5. Please open your arms and welcome Knott's Windseeker, now with more lipstick! The reality is the park wanted one a few years ago, but with all the trouble of the other ones that never happened. This should round out the family offerings nicely which means a new high thrill ride could be on it's way in a few years!
  6. So here's the deal, and I'm going to be brutally honest. Since the launching of their 'crowd funding' page and a tremendous amount of news coverage including help from the rides broker IRM, the park has only managed to raise less than 4k. Tulsa and Creek County combined has approx 750,000 residents. If the residents really believed in the vision and the business plan(which includes 4 rides already in operation as part of phase I), then raising 60k should be no problem. Afterall that's only 8 cents per person! The reality is people have been hearing the Bell family say they are going to rebuild year after year. Just under 3 years after closing they put rides up for sale with several being sold. And yes, the Himalaya was sold to Lakemont but is now sitting in a warehouse in PA, a ride the he says he's bringing back. Yes, millions of dollars of infrastructure were lost, BUT the park was NOT that fancy nor did it have much charm. It was just a collection of rides in a parking lot in the middle of the fairgrounds. Its biggest asset was and still is, the memories. Memories of ones first ride on a wooden coaster, first dates, first kisses, and maybe other stuff in the Phantasmagoria (I'm guilty of that ) Others remember the concerts, 4th of July Fireworks and riding the sky ride from the dirt track to the park for a few spins on the wild mouse before heading home. So what the park lacked in atmosphere it made up for in memories. Had the park been more profitable there would have been no issues with getting a loan, no issues with getting land, nor issues renewing the lease. But with two bankruptcies under their belt, one which a state representative helped them out of, no bank in their right mind is going to touch them. The park had an idea 5 years before they got the boot that their lease would not be renewed as the fairgrounds refused to negotiate an extended lease. Years would go by and no lease renewal. Then at what the Bell family conceived as the last hour, it was get your stuff and get out. There were indicators, but they went unseen, it was just assumed the lease would be renewed. At first I was pissed, just like everyone else. But given my position at the time I was privy to some of the information contained in the business plan presented to the fairgrounds. And while that is still confidential, I can certainly see why the board voted the way they did. Maybe the outcome would have been different if some of that plan was made public and gotten public support, but I doubt it. The last 5 years it was evident that something wasn't right, there just wasn't much of an effort being put into the park. I remember riding Pharroh's Fury and noticed a giant hole in the center ornament. The mini golf course hadn't been used in years, bathrooms were in disrepair, and the many gangs in Tulsa were flooding in and driving people away. Oh, and lets not forget about the fire that destroyed the Zingo ride station and both trains(some people still think that was a conspiracy). Certainly the storm that shut them down their last year for a few weeks didn't help either. While crowd funding does indeed work, case in point Theme Park Studio, it only works with a proper business model, a product people can believe in, and right now, it just doesn't appear that Tulsa believes in Bell's, otherwise they'd have already met that goal. But even after being brutally honest, I still tip my hat to the man as he hasn't given up on the American Dream.
  7. Both Eclipse and Texas Sky Screamer are 397 feet tall, but Six Flags market the one in Texas as being 400 feet. Read Here
  8. The kids area is in terrible shape and has been for years, surprisingly they really didn't say what they were doing other than new kids area and rides, who wants to bet it won't be done until mid June? Oh, and the seemed to have left something out of their announcent. We promise to have all rides operating at full capacity with courteous well trained staff and open concession stands.
  9. ^ Can you really blame them? For an all year park those passes are super cheap so charging regular admission on Saturdays during FrightFest seems logical, for once. Continue to go YOLO next season, lmao, such bad hired aspiring model acting in the announcement video.
  10. ^Its because no one is managing their twitter account, they haven't tweeted anything since July 22!
  11. If you like nerdy stuff and questionable reporting, here is a news report for you! The video in the link is actually better than reading NBC-DFW
  12. You can find more info on their website, however, they only sell ten (10) unlimited passes that work like cedar fairs pass and one hundred (100) 8 ride passes which includes 1 ride on Outlaw Run, per day.
  13. ^It also housed the Six Flags Corporate offices.
  14. I remember hitting Adventureland prior to the N.E. trip, didn't have much time to hang around but it's a cute park with everything one needs to take the edge off.
  15. Bell's has officially announced their 'Crowd Sourcing' plan. They are seeking to raise 60k in 45 days, some of the rides listed as being brought back are either already in operation or in process of being rehabbed or built. Fundraising Page
  16. An announcement will be made tonight on funding, however they will be relying on 'crowd funding' to help finish some of the projects started. Zingo, Phantasmorgoria, and other 'big kid' attractions are not in the cards this go around. They will reportedly seek 60k. 400 riders last Saturday at $1 a ride basically covered their operating costs. While I would like to see my childhood park return, don't get too excited. The cost to rebuild Zingo could hit around 3 million. The concrete work on a simple shoot the shoots ran $1 million for a park down south a few years ago and the log flume will require just as much if not more. Not being a debbie downer, just being realistic. The best possible thing that could be done would be to join forces with the karting track next door and build up an FEC, something that outside of Incredible Pizza, doesn't exist in Tulsa.
  17. Ride closing temps are listed on SDC's website and vary from 42 degrees to 32 degrees. Most people go for the shows and the millions of lights. If you go and don't take in the two major shows you are doing yourself a disservice. Special holiday all you can eat buffets are available the include that traditional items. Cave tours are limited as parts of it fill with water. My advice would be to go prior to mid December as weather beyond that can go either way. Thursdays are empty ride wise with Saturday's being the busiest days. They will also have some special deals on line so be on the lookout for those. You can reference info on the Holiday event here and ride closing info here
  18. I believe this was addressed a few pages back. The pad was built and used during the construction of the sky screamer segments.
  19. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the fireworks were given the axe due to lack of rain. Something about the fire department not liking the chances of catching stuff on fire. Or maybe that was just the excuse given, I could be wrong.
  20. Did you report it to the ride operators, management, or guest relations? In not, why not? If so, what was their reaction? Was the ride shut down while the ride mechanics investigated?
  21. Seems as if every Gravity Group coaster that I have ridden that has a steel structure has given me terrible headaches, Ravine Flyer II rattled me all night during Leviathon and it's really not that old. Something about a structure not giving and taking with an 'aggressive' design that I can't help but wonder aides in the deterioration of the ride quality. Great White is another prime example.
  22. The city of Arlington is replacing the water and sewer lines in that area. It's a project that was started in January on 'the road to six flags' . Signs are posted along the road as to what they are doing. When finished, the road alongside Judge will be repaved. Sorry Ms. Brown, no fire.
  23. I must admit, I secretly went back to Fair Park so I could ride the flow rider...maybe the Himalaya, and the service remained the same. Friendly, happy, glad you were there.
