  1. Well it's opening day for the 2014 season and the biggest change I've seen is in the form of new uniforms. Gone are the bright yellow and worn out looking shirts and in are nice Six Flags blue shirts. I'll live post from the park, because I have the technology for it, so let's see what all I can find in the next few hours that's changed since January Gold Pass Entry is ready to go, instead of 15 minute early entry, this year it's 10. Since the rides typically don't open until park opening time, it's not really a big deal. The new play structure is coming along Midway is looking good No more takis! At least not here... Gate left open on purpose? Let's hope so, it's a welcome shortcut And my traditional first rider of the season, five years running! It's the loudest of the batman production run but it's still the best of the lot! The park is rolling out new food options this year. Trying to be like Chipotle? Look ma, no seat belts! Would you like to re-ride? Why yes, yes I would His holiness is still riding fine Ok, time to head somewhere else... Why hello sexy No shortage of riders, just loooong dispatch times But it's worth it For you map whores, needed something to do while waiting in line for Texas Giant, which just so happens to have the longest line in the park. So after an hour waiting for Giant, yes it was worth it but they seriously needed four people on load. I'm told they made an effort but it didn't quite work out Meanwhile over at Titan a year long project has completed It's the ride photo booth and gift shop So let's look inside Guess what day it is....Guess what day it is Ride my ass off? If it'll help reduce it's size I guess I can The Intamin thingy was under weather but the ship was sailing Before heading over to the new for 2014 Bugsboomtown or whatever it's called, I checked out Runaway minus the ride sign that disappeared last year and hasn't yet returned. And now for the progress on Bugs Bunny Boomtown The first thing you'll notice is the character meet and greet gone and replaced with nice cool concrete. Mmmmm concrete Over at the play structure And from the other side You'll also notice part of the train missing, think that was used for first aide or lost kids or something And more The land behind Aquaman was cleared for rides And one final look at the new kiddie park In case you were curious I knew I'd find some Takis!!! Well that's it from opening day, hope you enjoyed this trip report brought to you by tapatalk and the iPhone 5. When you want it done right, easy, and hassle free, do it with the iPhone.

  3. This is nothing more than a standard legal maneuver, even Gerstaluer admits to that, who will also be counter suing the park along the same lines. In other words, the courts will end up showing their dislike for the Six Flags filing. However, what is interesting about the filing is that Six Flags claims that the cars on the ride are defective and dangerous. If that is the case, then why are they still operating not one, but two different rides with those trains? Pretty sure someone didn't think that one through. The green light was simply one of the safety checks that seemed like a good idea at the time, but it in no way replaces the way an attendant should be checking a restraint. It was a way to indicate to the attendant what the panel is showing (more or less) B&M's have them, though it's not visible unless you know where to look, as do the new RMC trains. The big difference on say Outlaw Run is, that even if the seat was cleared to go by the ride, an attendant has the final say and more than once kicked a person off because the bar didn't meet the position requirements on the riders body. More often than not, if the panel was clear, NTAG got dispatched even if the bar might not have been where it needed to be. So while the lights have been removed on the Gerstlauer trains, the computer still reads the same as it did with them in place. I'm pretty confident the light situation won't have any major bearing on the outcome of the case due to the fact even without them, the computer would have registered the seat as clear anyway.
  4. New Developments in the Texas Giant incident, warning, some of what's included may be considered by some as graphic. Fox Dallas WFAA
  5. ^ Yes, RMC designed, fabricated, and installed the track and placed the mechanicals. Six Flags did their own PLC, or contracted for it and Gerstlauer built the three trains. The red train appears to be unmodified and sitting in it's transfer area covered with a sheet (fitting, eh?) for obvious reasons.
  6. Pretty sure this won't come as a shock Dallasnews And here the park points the finger to Gerstlauer wfaa And a really good video of the finger pointing DFW CBS And here is Six Flags response to the lawsuit in pdf FW Star
  7. It was worse than that during the Super Bowl, $250 near the stadium was cheap! The park opens the far back section of the parking lot for special event parking for games at both the Rangers and Cowboys stadium only charging the normal $20, if you don't have a season pass you just drive straight there and avoid the toll plaza where bright yellow shirts will be happy to take you greenbacks. You can then take the Arlington trolley to the Cowboys stadium or walk it, it's about 1.5 miles. People who go to the NFL games here have tons of disposable income it seems....I wouldn't pay it.
  8. Yes, they have by-pass zones for the scare zones with signs pointing you which way to go to avoid them!
  9. ^Cowboys played the Bronco's, everyone uses their Season Passes for parking or pays the $20 to park and walk, cheaper than the $75-100 closer to the stadium
  10. I would much rather have Wonderland in my backyard than SFOT, love that park.
  11. Oct 4 was Fright Fest VIP preview night and TPR was there to check it all out. Billed as the Biggest Fright Fest Ever the park put a lot of effort into this years event that gives them an excellent base to work off of for years to come. This year the park introduced new houses, new scare zones, and the Twick o' Tweat Twail for the kids. What I liked most was the park was not conga lining people into the houses with Monster Mansion and RockKill High only allowing a max of 8 people in group while utilizing a 'tour guide' to help keep the pace and help you through. FearHouse 3D and Total Darkness were spaced appropriately apart but had no guide. The scare zones were quite nice with my favorite being Zombie Apocalypse, which by adding to the parks every day theming in the 'Rockkill' area made for a creepy straight out of the movies feel. My favorite of the 4 houses was RockKill High School. Themed to what I'd call an abandoned high school, you are guided through the schools gymnasium where you are greeted by random zombies and led through the locker room, chem lab, bathrooms that were serving as a lunch room, and of course the creepy librarian. Sorry, not going to give anything away here Behind RockKill, I'd rank Midnight Mansion #2, FearHouse 3D where you get cool 3D glasses and walk through where even the monsters look 3D as #3, and in last place Total Darkness. I'm sure some people will love Total Darkness because as the name suggests you are in total darkness feeling your way to the end while getting spooked along the way. I don't scare too easily so that plays a huge factor in why I place it last. Besides the houses, scarezones, and food, the park had Iron Rattler open for everyone to ride and all I can say is wow, it was running great! Special thanks to Jefferey Siebert for the invite, we had a 'horrible' time! For hours, tickets, and more information visit the Six Flags Website TPR was at VIP FrightFest Preview Night! This guy led me to candy! I found Bugs! Twick or Tweat! What's better than eating all those Snickers bars? More food of course! The park had sweets, treats, and drinks set up throughout the park to help keep the energy level up! Candy in the form of the new Twick or Tweat Twail where you can meet many of the WB characters! Achmed? The park was decorated nicely With graveyards all over the place Everyone was ready to ride Boomerang! Just kidding! It's Iron Rattler time! The tunnel was fogged out with a nice blue glow, amazing at night! She was running great, love it! After some quality time on iRat we checked out the rest of the park. The decorations fit with the theme of each section of the park, great attention to detail. Through this mouth.... You can buy a pumpkin.. And paint it up! I loved Zombie Apocalypse Mainly because it felt like a scene straight out of the movies And it fit perfectly across from RockKill High Speaking of....It only took about 10 minutes to get the 100 or so people into the house, very efficient. Dancing clowns! FearHouse 3D uses Pando's queue line, and lets be honest, will you really miss not riding Pando? No, no you won't. Note: I only assume the ride will not be running being as the air gates were chained and padlocked. Thanks Six Flags Fiesta Texas! We had a HORRIBLE time!
  12. ^doubtful, my friends that went through the houses last night said security was hanging around and in one they were talking and laughing and pointing which way to go and such. I watched as security followed people around in Total Darkness on the night vision cams, sad. I realize they have an issue with the 'wrong crowd' during the event but at some point you have to ask, why bother?
  13. Considering the weather and the game at AT&T stadium, getting a good crowd judgment wouldn't be fair. Most people left when the game started and when the rain hit. But even before that all went down the park was pretty deserted with little to no wait times. We left when the rain hit, had dinner, and returned so my friends could finish up the mazes. Longest wait they had was ~15 minutes. While the park is decorated beyond what it ever has for Halloween, the scare zones, at least last night, were kinda lame and brightly lit. Good effort tho.
  14. It has a few gremlins, they ended up transferring a train off but she's riding silky smooth!
  15. ^I found some good tacos near St. Paul, they'll be in a future report
  16. I got this while trying to edit my previous; I'm getting this rather one attachment or multiples but the edit seems to go through. I've been searching the web for a way to add file descriptions but not having any luck. Test edit
  17. A few from the Texas State Fair I guess now we just need to figure out an easy way to add descriptions to photos
  18. Could be on their end. But as someone whose job it's been the last ten years to test software it's gotta work consistently.
