  1. ^^ It's pretty awesome to see really and seeing Michael in action and how the employee's all respect him and work well with each other; you're going to continue to see the park flourish. ^I'm having similar issues!
  2. Is it time for Leviathon yet because your report makes me want to hop on a plane now!
  3. Part II Longer than my normal reports, but it's worth it So here is Eruption, the parks non-upcharge sling shot attraction. Well, it was. Here is the last photo you will see of Eruption's pod. Eruption has sadly reached it's end of life and the park this week has started to disassemble it. By the end of August the towers will gone. So the obvious first question asked is what are they replacing it with? Well they are calling it undecided. After paying my last respects I headed over for a ride on the Wild Cat, love this shot for some reason. Up goes the Cat. There she goes! Nerd Shot! So you ask, how are you getting this photos?!?! Well I'm about to show you First you enter here. Then you take this path.... (clue) Noted. Which leads you here, to Frontier City's newest attraction that has opened to rave reviews! Wild West Water Works (WWWW) is a totally awesome water play structure for kids of all ages! Perfect for needing to cool off after a hot day of riding. The slides are also large enough for the big kids and thrilling enough for the little kids! They have also installed new restrooms with showers and changing facilities. Of course there are plenty of things to get you wet here. I stayed a little over an hour and loved it. Lock boxes are available for $2 per use(well worth it) and lounge chairs and canopy's are spread throughout. Need something to eat or an adult beverage? They have you covered. After playing it was time to relax. No thank you! They've got a winner on their hands that has helped fill a need that park has had in Oklahoma's super hot summer heat. My date. But before I go, some people complained I didn't have enough Silver Bullet in a PTR from last year, so.... I am here to satisfy your complaining. So sit back, relax and enjoy. NERD SHOT! Well, that's all folks. Again special thanks to Frontier City and TheSchwitek for showing me around. The new Wild West Water Works is just what the Dr. ordered and the park, despite the multi day 100+ heat looks really really good! One favor to ask, I've trying various settings on my camera to improve my skills. If you see a picture you like or don't like let me know, it will help me tenfold! Until my next adventure...see ya!
  4. Yesterday I was invited by a friend of mine, TheSchwitek, to Frontier City for a visit and to check out their new water play structure. I have to say that since being sold off from Six Flags and bouncing from PARK to Premier, the park has come a long ways in terms of ride uptime, employee friendliness and hustle, and overall appearance and upkeep. Keep up the great work guys! The parks newest attraction, Wild West Water Works, has become quite popular with families and even adults! I myself have never experienced the awesomeness of one of these water structures that houses slides for everyone. I spent a little over an hour sliding, water fighting, and just having a good time. Oh, and never once did I feel dirty as plenty of other adults with no children were out sunbathing and playing on the structure and getting their fun on. With the success of this addition to the park, I'm sure we will see more new awesome stuff in the future! I do bring to everyone a bit of a surprise as TheSchwitek, operations manager at the park, showed me the bone yard, full of win! Also I have a bit of sad news, and to find that out check out the photos that offer many more details of my time at the park. Thanks again to Michael, I had really awesome fun time! Oh and as per usual if your a photo nut, Clicky Two Parts - Part I Upon arriving at Frontier City I found this sitting in the parking lot. Yay! In we go! Coke called the park and asked to setup this weekend as a promotion for the Olympics. Inside they have a cool bar with Coke at the perfect temperature as well as interactive games and Xbox. (Sorry for the crappy cell phone photo, I was busy drinking Coke and didn't switch to the good camera) TheSchwitek met me at the front gate and off we went on a quick tour... ...that somehow ended up here! Notice something strange? Well first two adults in a coaster where adults are not normally allowed (Thats head maintenance honcho Wes in the back) and two, is a two car train! Normally it would be a three car train but they decided to do something extra special. Ok, thats not true, the third car is in rehab, but it sounds good? So not only was it a rare credit, but it was a super rare credit! After my whoring stop, Michael took me over to the bone yard!!! NOTE: Do NOT attempt to enter, climb over the fence, beg, borrow, steal, or otherwise break in as you might find yourself behind a different kind of fence Can you name what coaster this came off of? I can't. My what big logs you have. Yup, she's sea worthy. Also in the background are the old ticket booths that were replaced with a single structure a few years ago. Tomahawk will chop no more. The Yo Yo on the other hand could be put back together again (note: don't read too much into this ) And here we have the remnants of the Galaxi. The building it was housed in is now used for Haunt. And here is some more of it. How about a nice display? Dino's Alive! Next up some old dark ride cars, how cool! A good refurbishment and I could see these on a classic ride somewhere. Mobster cars Poor Anton, relegated to a parts train by previous ownership. Let's Roll! Bye towers, it's been nice knowing you! Why am I wishing them a fond farewell you ask? Keep reading... After an amazing tour of the bone yard the next stop of the day was BBQ. When you come to the park, this is a must stop. You can smell the smoke inside the store and your taste buds start to salivate. I have to admit the BBQ found here has moved to my top 10 list. It was crazy amazing. Splitting off from Michael (hey some people work for a living!) I sorted my ride plan of attack. Being the smart person I am, I headed straight to a spin and puke. Followed by a swing and puke. I can't say 100%, but I'm pretty sure the Schooner received some new paint this off season. So with lunch moving around nicely I thought it might be time to slow down a bit and shoot some stuff. As usual, the targets and guns worked perfectly. Did you know they have their own dining car? Of course what goes up... ...must come down. This is one of the craziest drop towers I've been on. It was a prototype so everything runs a little slower but delivers a nice surprise. The go carts are back open this year though you can't tell from this picture as people were strapping in... Stomach settled, it was time to scramble things up again. But at this point it's getting hot, so let's cool off. And if that doesn't cool you off enough, maybe this will. But after getting wet, you must dry off The smoothest Vekoma you will ever ride. I think alot of it has to do with the restraint system which is unintrusive. The Vekoma was just a warm up for his works. Up we go. Running as if she was brand new. And we're done. Kudos to maintenance for keeping her in tip top running condition. And that concludes Part I, in Part II we reveal the fait of eruption and visit the parks newest water attraction!
  5. I'm hearing rumblings that Flashback will be the one to bite the dust...keep in mind this ride closes soon for the season anyway as the area is used for haunt. Time will tell.
  6. Thanks everyone! ^ I didn't notice that deal when I was there or I would have taken them up on it! A bargain to say the least. Even though the water park was closed it was nice to see them putting the life guards who showed up for work to work. Albeit they were working the games, the park still did right by them for not sending them home with no pay. Kudos to the park for that. Not sure where my next Adventure will take me, it could be Kings Island, the Indy Zoo, Holiday World, Frontier City, Adventure City... the possibilities are great!
  7. Wow, I mean I'll ride almost anything, but damn. Looks like something you would find in the middle of a rice paddy Looping Tobanger, first I've seen one of those, not sure I ever want to ride one... Thanks for the report
  8. Ah Memphis BBQ so many choices, so many flavors. Personally I wasn't a fan of the TV Stars BBQ but Uncle Interstate, yummy. I have this book marked to remind me of some of the places I thought about trying but passed on. Thanks for making me hungry! Oh, next time you are in memphis might I suggest also trying www.leonardsbarbecue.com/ lunchtime seems to be the best and the catfish is out of the park.
  9. You might be disappointed when you get to Indiana Beach, the YoYo was moved to the parking lot and hasn't been put back
  10. ^^ ^Yup, and while the park isn't a full day one can spend time at the lake and whatnot to make it completely worthwhile. The locals were telling me all sorts of places to go and check out, I just didn't have time!
  11. I was 'shock'ed at the detail in the theme, even if it is a little whack. Nice pics as always.
  12. Me too. The original plan was spend about 3-4 hours and check out the town/lake/etc but with a credit down I stuck it out until the park closed at 5 and it paid off
  13. ^^We have the same thing throughout Oklahoma. You can only buy low point beer on Sunday's save for going to the local bar. No car sales on Sundays etc.
  14. As always, love your fair reports. Now I just need to get my butt over there to experience them!
  15. On this adventures I made my way to Michigan on May 30th where I was hoping for light crowds and an easy going day. Thankfully, Michigan's Adventure could provide me with such a day. With school still in session and a high of 60 forecast the park was empty, and I mean, empty save for the school buses. Including my car, maybe 40 others in the lot which meant I might be able to get in and get out. Unfortunately for the cleanest amusement park that I think I've ever been too, that would not be the case as Shivering Timbers was not feeling well. With a state still deep in economic ruins it is refreshing to see the park open, but there isn't much of a draw in the ride department save for Shivering Timbers. Pretty much stock carnival flats and standard coasters, the park has great potential and plenty of room to expand. Although the water park was closed due to the temperatures, it appears as if it is their best asset. To sum it up, if you've been to Worlds of Fun and not really thought it was anything special, you haven't been to Michigan's Adventure. As usual, if you love photos clicky to see them all. Well Shiver me Timbers it's cold out and I'm in shorts! And hey, where IS everyone?!?! I really was amazed at how clean and fresh the park looked. Not to mention it's full of nice cool dependable concrete. Winning! Full of 60's awesome. I mean for a park that has to go through hell during the winter, it's just clean and warming. Even the restrooms were sparkling and the employees, many older, were friendly and glad to see a non-local. I realize that many of you love a good woodie, even if it's....small. I guess you could call it cute, but what ever you call it, it's perfect for that first time. Ouchy! We pause for a must have staple in any park report. Whole lot of hurtin in this view. I could feel tears as the train whizzed by. I don't think I've mentioned that another positive of this park is it's clean and photogenic, probably more so without the clouds. It's like magic, the clouds departed. A rarity of CF parks is the mini-golf course, but not here, it was alive and being used. But the zoo, the zoo was the best part. See, I told you they had golf. I really still can't get over how clean it is, and trash cans weren't even placed every 5 feet! I also still haven't gotten over my headache. OMG THIS HURTS! Hey, you guys are supposed to be in pain...what gives? At least it make for some good photos. There is just something not right about you guys, this is painful, not fun!!! But from fun, we go to stupid. Time and Temperature says it's 51 outside...and these high schooler's are about to test their knowledge of science. Perhaps about now they are starting to put two and two together. Cold weather + cold water = pneumonia eh, not my problem. How about we sail on over and catch a mouse. A mda one at that ahhh, it has a tail! WTF? Did prison colors change? Cashed in and time to move on... Timbers was not feeling well today and I have to admit I was saddened as I had heard good things about it. Talking with park employees throughout the day they were surprised I had driven from Okiehoma to Michigan just to whore out their park. After chatting it up I learned they had several people trying to get the ride open just for me! So while I waited I went and hoped on a scrambler...alone. Having some time to kill I went over and sat on their #2 coaster, and yes, I spun. And I spun And spun some more And then I looked over my shoulder and saw quite the line of people Shivering, so, I made my way over. Yes, the ride is testing! No the ride is not testing. Yes the ride is testing! No the ride is not testing. Yes the ride is testing! Yes the ride is OPEN! So at 3:30 the mad dash began! Yes! The park fulfilled their promise to me and opened the ride! Time to get loaded! And off we go! I must say this ride surprised me, and in a good way. The trick track on the return, winning. I could only imagine what the ride was like back when it was new! Oh no, now we are stuck on the brake run. Although they opened the ride it still needed some medicine. However, park maintenance decided to stick around and clear the ride when the error codes popped up for the last 30 minutes of park operation. What other corporate owned park would do that! How awesome! Bite in and wait for the surprise! There you have it, the without a doubt, cleanest CF park if not cleanest in the U.S. that I've been too and they didn't have trashcans lined up like street lights! Despite not having an overabundance of OMFG rides, I still had a good time. Thanks to the park for a good time and getting Timbers up for me!
  16. I understand they are going to start ramping up the promotion in the next week or two to get people excited about what 'it' will be by dropping a few more clues. With the construction taking place now deep in the woods where it is harder to photograph from a moving train I probably won't make it back to the park again until after the Leviathon Tour is over. However, if we hear about something else amazing that is photographable I'll make an exception
  17. ^I know, it's getting exciting! All the quietness has actually made this project more exciting and fun, at least for us nerds ^^It drops off the hill and travels a good bit before hitting the element which would be at the furthest point from the lift. Oh, and I edited this week's picture update with a link to my full album for those who have their towels ready. www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1201447#p1201447
  18. ^I'd say about 225 degrees heading in the direction of the track coming off the drop (maybe kissing it at the midway point between the drop and the sharktopus element) then it appears to curve back towards the right (90 degree bank perhaps?) and meets up with the train tracks, possibly crossing the train tracks before crossing the lift in front of the station. (Hope that makes sense)
  19. ^Might work better with these previously unpublished photos
