  1. Exactly. Renold provides the chains for Titan/Goliath but I can't speak on who B&M's chain vendor is as I don't know.
  2. Correct. The evac platform was a modification to try and get the ride to re-open. I suspect Mondial and KBF could never get it to work correctly or efficiently enough to allow DOSH to approve it. The EVAC procedures (Or lack thereof depending how you look at it) isn't the reason the ride never reopened.
  3. I personally don't care for Goliath but the GP loves it so having it closed is a bummer.
  4. ^2nd station wouldn't do a damn bit of good as it wouldn't be staffed.
  5. Fantastic report Adam! The GF and I will be visiting SWSD this coming weekend. Manta is a fantastic little coaster. Nice burst of speed, pops of airtime. In my opinion that is what KBF needed in lieu of Pony Express.
  6. The same way Rachel Dolezal can pretend to be African American. There's a special place in hell for people like you......... Right next to me.
  7. Here's another Anti Sea World article that will make you cringe. I still support SW parks in every aspect. On a lighter note, they have a great BOGO deal right now. Worked on me as the GF and I are now going to the park next Saturday.
  8. LOL why wouldn't they? Each and every ride in the park gets inspected and checked off every day by an electrician and ride mechanic before opening to the public. Its not like they skip a few days here and there or forget every once in a while, it's every. Single. Day the ride opens to the public. Sounds like standard procedures and the ride will be open again soon I'm sure. I'm all too aware of the morning procedures of an amusement park. Having worked at KBF and DLR (Currently) both in attractions I know first hand that things happen. I never said MM doesn't have their sh*t together. I just know first hand the doors that are opened with DOSH,CALOSHA, attorneys, etc..... when you don't have everything dialed in. This.
  9. ^Agreed. It's on borrowed time for sure.
  10. Hopefully the park has all of their opening checklists, maintenance sign off records and staff training records in order.
  11. It will be busy as a lot of schools are on their last week this week. I always wait until I'm at the park to decide if a FP is needed. Just my .02.
  12. ^Agreed. The projections are more reliable than the mechanics of the moving door effect.
  13. Stunning pictures, as per your usual.
  14. Wow!! As a father that really is heartbreaking. My prayers are with her family.
  15. ^Word to the wise, Don't post anything about a situation that involves an investigation which I'm sure there will be.
  16. Seems like Ride Access Control procedures weren't followed. Regardless, I hope the operator makes a full recovery.
  17. I don't think it means anything however it's interesting considering CF doesn't own a dive machine.....
  18. ^When did Goliath get its lift chain replaced?
  19. they open it with just the front rows and progressively move back to full trains once it's warmed up. It reduces the chance of a rollback if all the weight is at the front. If Dragster's PLC is anything like Xcelerator's, it takes the average weight of every 5 launches to determine how much power is needed to get the train up to the 79.5mph that is required for a train to clear the top hat. I remember back when I worked Xcelerator a short shot was guaranteed if you completely filled a train early in the morning. Same was to be said at the end of the day. We had to slowly close off 1 row at a time for the last 10 trains or so of the day to prevent a "Catch car overtravel" fault when you sent the 1st empty train to bring the last train of guests back into the station. Top Thrill Dragsters computer uses the speed that the previous train crest the tower to determine the speed needed to launch the next train to get it to clear at a similar speed. That's why in the morning the progressively load the trains to keep the weight variance small enough that it doesn't cause a roll back, or over speed. Interesting. I work Kingda Ka and it uses the same method Top Thrill Dragster does to determine the launch speed but we don't have to load just the front rows in the morning. We actually can't run the ride if more than 6 seats are empty at any given time. The launch is calibrated to launch full trains over the tower pretty consistently but we can't launch empty trains with a regular launch. We have to press a launch boost button for an empty train or else it rolls back. I think the boosted trains launch about 3 or 4 mph faster than the regularly launched trains do. Do Dragster and Xcelerator have the same thing or no? Xcelerator doesn't have a "Launch Boost."
