I'm bummed this is in-house now, otherwise I'd be hoping a bunch of clones would be popping up soon. -
Wet n' Wild Orlando Question
Fooz replied to K1ngdaKa88's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to KD's waterpark a couple summers ago after not having been to a waterpark since childhood, and I thought that waiting in the lines was horrible! The wave pools and lazy rivers are ok, but standing in the sun in concrete towers, moving a foot a minute is not my idea of fun. More power to you if you like them, though. -

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds too fast? Even if that's the speed it'll hit before climbing to the brakes (as I think hitting the brakes at 55 mph is definitely not the case) that's still quite a lot! I don't get this. The ride is extremely long already (6602 ft, will be the fifth longest on earth), do you just want to take the last few elements slowly? A higher speed at the end means less use of the trim. I'd be thrilled if more rides kept up their speed the whole way through. Physics fun: Based on these numbers, this ride will have used 2/3 of its maximum kinetic energy when it hits the brakes. -

Is the helix theming pointing outside of the park? It doesn't seem visible from anywhere off-ride, and it seemed pretty extensive in the concept art. -

I'd wager that the airport and local government could make it work, but it would require a lot of changes the operational guidelines, which could be rather costly. They'd rather not do it, and I imagine that the government sides with the air travel industry more readily than it would a private lot, who proposes breaking regulation. -

I think a trim on this ride was a given. Lucky that it occurs so late in the ride, though I bet the bunny hills at the end might have a sort of "imagine if the trim was off" effect. -

Yeah, especially in the cases of Behemoth and Fury 325, as an additional measure to differentiate them from the hypers in those parks. I bet the public would have eaten it up. -

There's nothing prohibiting high speed inversions. This ride doesn't invert as a design decision. -
Coasters That Are Criticized For Being Too Intense

I305's turn is still as intense as it was. I've been on all iterations of the ride. -

Look up kinematic equations, if you know the speed and angle to the entry to the section it should be easy. Of course, not knowing the resisting force of the fins on the approach, there's no way to calculate the speed going into it. -
What I expect: 2016- Kiddie Coaster 2017- Removal of a major ride 2018- Small coaster addition + refurbishing of an old coaster 2019- nothing 2020- Park closes What I hope for: 2016: Focus on repainting rides, redo theming, improve ride operations, improve marketing 2017: 2 Crazy innovative flat rides that the GP will love 2018: Worlds tallest coaster, who wouldn't want to visit the park? 2019: Nothing 2020: Everyone complains about the park being a mess again. Just like old times Why would you expect that? Is the park not profitable?

The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread

They could build a new, taller, airtime filled first half in the space by superman, and have it connect to the existing layout afterwards, with topper track and higher speeds. -

No. I think it will be a fairly decent coaster, with dynamic forces and lots of speed . Fury 325 is a well rounded coaster. Key word: Think. Nobody knows what the ride will be like until it is ridden. Animations and stats are great but I'm sure people were excited when Son of Beast first opened too. I'm not saying this will be a bad ride, I think it is going to be tremendous for Carowinds. People just shouldn't declare things about rides that aren't even built yet. Prediction is a form of thinking. People can think and predict whatever they like about a ride, and they should be able to do so without you being rude to them. -

The same way Disney does the majority of their rides in house. Wicked was designed in-house but they hired Zierer to bring the ride to reality (launch system, track, vehicles, etc). Cannibal is fully in-house with no outside help. Of course different companies, mostly local, are being brought in to manufacture and construct it, but every last bit was designed and engineered in-house. Well I know that disney has a dedicated engineering staff, but it seems strange to me that this mid-sized park would. -

A train where passengers exit from the same station from which they entered, eschewing comfort for the sake of gyration? That is a gimmick that adds nothing to the utility of passenger trains! -

Why/how is this being done in house? Do they have a lot of engineers/manufacturing experts on the park staff? -

I want them to advertise it as "the world's first sitting down roller coaster!" -

Ok I hadn't seen the video until now, and it seems obvious from the production that this is a refit, with sit down trains at the least. It also is almost identical to the marketing tactics they used when they announced that steel phantom was closing! I think CF is going to do something worthwhile with it. -

I like indoor sections even if the effects are off though. Anyways, that's a perfect Idea, unless something about the land would make building there hard to do. The second half of mantis is really fun, and would be great on a floorless. Not expecting it to happen though. -

Is a new train enough to market it by? I think they'll have to load up on some other gimmicks, be it fire or sound or whatnot. -

Poll : Wicked Cyclone or Twisted Colossus
Fooz replied to willthegolfer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
But you can't go get a Double-Double animal-style right after riding Wicked Cyclone, now, can you? Yeah...I don't blame you for hating this place. There's way too much YOLO-ness; heck, we have cities named Yolo and Weed When I visited Cali last year, I found SFMM to be a pleasant surprise and In and Out to be a huge letdown. -

If you want Intamin-like ejector air on a B&M, you have to give up your roomy seats. You have to have a tighter lap bar and add seat belts. It's all a trade off. Baloney.
