  1. I suppose that wacky final hill was too awesome to be true then. (At full speed anyways)
  2. So is this racing simulator a pay-per-ride, or does it look to anyone else like a capacity nightmare? Impressive nonetheless.
  3. My hopes: There haven't been any Intamin hypers in a while, and with the "hog wild" direction the firm has been going, I could see something amazing happening here. After all, if there's any park with an amazing recent history with Intamin, it's hershey.
  4. While the ride experience seems to be somewhat of a tricky subject (intimidator 305, maverick's heartline roll), structural integrity is a well defined science. They usually build structures to theoretically handle at least three times all expected forces, so I wouldn't worry about the stability of a professionally built structure.
  5. I guess I'm a little late on the concept, but what is the big appeal of an aquatrax? They look to me like standard steels with decorative waterfalls underneath the track?
  6. Audio de-synchronization is not really an effect of speeding a video up. There could be a number of factors producing this effect.
  7. Kind of odd to see just one mid-ride elevated section put up before almost anything else... Perhaps it needs to be up in order to complete the station?
  8. Its not as if nobody tried to make the prequel trilogy good, and its not as if nobody enjoyed them. Furthermore, the practice of focusing on money does not detract from the integrity of artists. People who want to make money have ultimate control over the release simply because they are making it possible for these massively expensive undertakings to be made. This is the nature of the business, and the way it will exist forever. An important factor to think about, I think, is that one's group of friends, their age group peers, and their corner of the internet is not so good of an indicator of popular opinion. When you do invest a good amount of time in a field, you develop certain (I respect dedication, and I would personally label these as "good" or "better than popular") opinions about the field, and those opinions are almost always unpopular (or perhaps they are opinions in an area where the general public has little to no opinions en masse, such as the aspects of roller coasters which we all care about here). What I mean by this is that you may wish that movies were more suited to your tastes (and I might strongly agree with you!), but the world votes with dollars, and dollars are the only reason these movies even exist! If people did not follow the maxim of making money, then everyone involved in making movies would be losing money, and the film industry would simply vanish. Having said that, people who have honed opinions on movies face two challenges: They are a small demographic and therefore contribute small amounts of money towards movies that suit their taste, and they have very high standards and respect originality above all else (and originality becomes an incrementally less available commodity every time an original work is produced.) Luckily, independant moviemaking is on the rise! Movies are becoming cheaper and cheaper to make better and better in this fashion, and the products every year in this field is phenomenal. Just don't expect the hollywood (effects, music, well-paid professionalism) magic to flow where the money does not. There are movies for everyone! I think it is irrational, though, that people complain about the actions of popular movie productions (or any entertainment), when it is really the populous that makes these decisions, not the idea of some fatcat who is demeaning the name of good taste for a quick dollar. (I've tried my best to say this without demeaning anyone else's ideas, but only to provide my own)
  9. Or have a piece of meat on a track that follows next to a launch every once in a while, so that the cheetahs will run alongside the train??!?!?! One can dream...
  10. It's refreshing to see a coaster of this type with a really long footprint. I think the long straightaways look fun, and that section will look just awesome from the midways. I foresee one of the most picturesque Intamins yet! I wonder how much of an impact the final launch will have though, taken after a significantly faster one. The trenches and waterfall section will be just unreal though!
  11. Every movie in the series is a resounding financial success.
  12. I hope that people understand that hollywood is a business, and your nostalgia/opinions really have no monetary value. While you may not like some of the things george lucas has done, he has allowed thousands of people to find employment, and provide for their families.
  13. I would not be surprised if the helix is omitted, however. The structure is gone, and it would seem like the most obvious section to remove and lower costs.
  14. So this coaster looks straight out of a coaster nerd's dream. They've even started planting trees around the finished portions already! Another thought though: As a student of audio engineering, I am positive that tunnels on a wooden coaster are one of the worst things on the earth for your ears (and ear damage is 100% permanent), so I always have mixed feelings about their presence. I know that this is an oddball concern that nearly nobody on the planet will agree with.
  15. From RCDB about the shenzhen launcher: WOW! Look at the contours of that hill! Completely insane! Could S&S get their reliability issues ironed out and become a major name in high profile thrill rides this decade?
  16. I second the notion. Remodeled Germany section too! What a perfect game plan for the park.
  17. I would say that this looks like it could be in the running for one of the best rides ever! Steep drops, overbanks, and most importantly, high speed air hills? Yes please. Now to figure out how to get to texas...
  18. I am sorry for those who died as a result of this.
  19. Wow! Some of these pictures are fantastic! Is there anywhere to get them full quality?
  20. Make as small of movements and take as many pictures as possible, I think.
  21. Lost deserved much better! And so did "Better off Ted," a recently cancelled but incredibly funny show. I dont think the people who decide on these awards even watch all that much television.
  22. Here are some stop motions my girlfriend and I made at school for a series of contests. Most were the winner of these contests! These feature my own music: and these do not: These are in reverse chronological order.
  23. I don't think that the GP is on a bandwagon against the ride. In fact, I believe the most inflammatory opinions about the ride in general probably exist on this ans similar enthusiast boards. I've heard some people say that they didn't care for it, or that they like dominator better, but I've heard at least tenfold as many people excited and raving after riding. The lines are sometimes short, but I believe that is a testament to the capacity and "hardcore" status (even in appearance) of the ride. Was there a lot of noticeable negativity about or around the ride on ECB day? I shared a similar experience as redfoot, after the first ride I was a bit baffled, after the 5th I was hooked, and after the 10th ride I was a true believer.
  24. - Pre trim i305, - hypersonic xlc - steel phantom - maverick - el toro - TTD - post trim i305 - the first half of volcano In that order I think
  25. This looks like great fun, and a great experience for the more timid guests, and they've had nothing but observation towers to get them up to those heights without being too intimidating.
