  1. Does anyone know how much gardaland is paying for the ride? It looks very cost-effective for a B&M.
  2. I waited 2 hours for Top Thrill Dragster, and in front of me was a group of high schoolers, and one of them was extremely drunk. Probably blacked out, swinging from wild and belligerent to barely lucid. After 2 hours of this he tries to board, where the group was detained (ride stopped too, for about 10 minutes) until the police arrive and arrest him, and escort the whole of the group away. Needless to say, I was pretty annoyed in line, so it felt like justice to me.
  3. So is this new webcam showing the beginnings of a post-drop immelman?
  4. That video really shows how much the train is currenly passing through a lot of old structure. I hope they keep the stray supports, It would be very interesting to ride by them.
  5. I'm going to second New mexico rattler. Really outstanding ride, one of my top 5 woodens of any type.
  6. I would thank that no sound observations could be made from pictures or structures alone. Doubt could be cast (such as in the case of the overbank supports) by one's preconception of what "practical engineering (or application of physics)" should look like. The reality of engineering though, is that the math paints a different, and certainly truer picture. You may think a certain thing looks incongruent with your idea of sound construction, when the pages and pages of calculations at Rocky Mountain engineering are sound, and the structure will be sound accordingly. Such are the dangers of "armchair engineering". (Or it could fall apart and you can laugh at me)
  7. This seems like a funny concept. It's hard to imagine what maneuvers it could perform that a single track design couldn't (especially when it seems like a tall train running on the bottom track, while the top track provides support/stability only), But I'm sure that my understanding of the ride is poor. That said, There are probably great things the ride could do with perception/ where the rider expects the car to be in relation to the track.
  8. Restraints have changed (permanently). I'd wager that the only place you will find the airtime you refer to from now on is on older rides. El Toro and the likes have pneumatic restraints, and still manage to be insane when it comes to the perception of airtime (for me at least).
  9. Excellent! I'd have believed that that was a plastic model.
  10. I had the america's greatest roller coaster thrills. I remember the storyline about the guy who would ride, and the girl who would wimp out, and when they both ended up on Batman the ride, she liked it but it was too much for him.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCoOvlaM8sk The approach to the hill is gone, as well as several of the supports leading into the hill. (the one tallest support before the end of the removed track remains) At this point, nobody outside the park can see what does or does not remain of the first turn. On a related note, does the mocking of KD locals need to go on forever?
  12. I used to habitually pause the game when i wasnt building.
  13. Hey folks here's my park, I know not much was done, but if you wanna take a look. Working on park3.SV6 MY park RCT2
  14. Great to see progress on this. It'll be interesting to see what is gonna connect the existing sections.
  15. I like how it takes one complaining post to spark 15 anti-complaining posts now.
  16. Ohh this is just mean. Some of us have learned a thing or two.
  17. I'd hope that they would go back to the end of the ride. Before the first hill trims, the 'twisties' were providing insane ejector air, but people were getting beat up by the restraints (which are new awesome). A new profiled turnaround + trimless first drop + high speed twisties + new cushy restraints = (Keep dreaming fooz...)
  18. I'd think that 10 years of progress in fabrication precision would have something to do with it.
  19. I tihnk the park was probably concerned about the grey outs (and the trims did not stop them from happening). Since the trims seem to be easily movable, and the track being taken off so early in the season, I'd think some real profile changes will be taking place. This is an exciting development regardless of the outcome!
  20. Just when I think it couldnt possibly look better, they add some more and then it looks a lot better!
  21. At this point this ride seems absolutely incredible.
  22. I'm getting all of this info from someone's BGW backstage tour TR, but I think they also said that alpengeist had a 2 inch gap when all of the track was installed.
  23. I believe that Loch ness Monster had a 6 foot gap when the last of the track was installed!
  24. Well to echo previous sentiments, El Toro is a rider's dream, and it delivers on all fronts. If costs/size is an issue though, I think New Mexico rattler is amazing for a woodie under 100 feet. Either Intamin or Gravity Group could make a smaller, affordable amazing ride, I think. Personally, asking what wooden coasters are missing for the most part, I'd say "rediculous airtime". (El toro is the only wooden ride I've been on where I could describe the air as rediculous, and clearly the coaster community AND the general public have reacted to the greatness of that ride. I've chatted about Six Flags Great Adventure to some people, and despite the record breakers, beemers, and the likes, everyone seems to like el toro the most.)
