  1. It looks like the correct translation would have been 'kilometers per hour', making the ride about 60 mph.
  2. Whatever it is, it costs more than I305, and almost as much a Leviathan if that figure is true. Projects this year are very costly!
  3. You don't pay for employees to insult your personal apperance...
  4. KD needs a cheaper, gimmicky ride IMO. I think some kind of shuttle would work, or a ZacSpin or something similar. Edit: maybe Premeir's new shuttle? Capacity may be too low though.
  5. Could this be a Zeirer, considering their 5-meter freefall on verbolten?
  6. I think the last three films demonstrate that's not true. Star Wars can suck when it wants to. Oh, very true. To me, and a LOT of fans, there's only three real Star Wars flicks. But as for the theoretical possibility of a Star Wars "land," are you willing to say that had this been (stealing from Chris) "Tom Staggs announcing this new land as an expansion to Hollywood Studios during D23 with George Lucas at his side," that this particular thread wouldn't already be 40 pages deep at this point........with at least 90% more excitement than skepticism? There are whole age groups who like the prequels more than the original trilogy. I'm not saying that one is better than the other, but I'm saying that things aren't so black and white when it comes to mass marketing, when you and the people you know make up a tiny fraction of the available market.
  7. I think that that's a bit of self-projection. The critical and audience reviews are generally favorable and its hard to forget that the movie was an international phenomenon and the most financially sucessfull film of all time by far. The internet has become an echo chamber of complaints about the movie but I guarantee it has many fans and the sequels will do quite well.
  8. I like the movie, and frankly this sounds like one of the best themeing opportunities that a park could have. This should be an exciting project.
  9. I'll always trust the fan-made poll over an industry controlled one (especially given some odd choices that david pointed out). The golden tickets seem sort of like the Grammys to me, a chance for an industry to promote business success where it exists (an unflinching top spot for cedar point and its flagship coaster, despite a decade of shifting opinions), yet few fans of music would pay much due to the Grammys. I doubt many here would agree with the list verbatim, but it will easily help the continued marketing efforts for already famous rides. (The Beast [#52 on MH poll], for example is quite famous, but it's odd to think that there could only be 6 better wooden rides than it in its current state. Another big discrepancy between the lists is Magnum a very famous ride, but at #58 on Mitch Hawker.)
  10. We've known the gist of this coaster for months. If any expectations of yours haven't been met, then your expectations were misguided.
  11. Yes, that's what I assumed, but the exit from the launch building to the drop into the river is only a few hundred feet of straight track, according to the layout pictures.
  12. Surprise elements, first of their kind in the US; I'm thinking the th13teen drop seems likely still. If we're getting a 50+ mph launch into that 88 foot drop, and the top speed is still 53 mph, I guess there is going to be some sort of trims there.
  13. What made this thread come back from the dead? Is there any indication that this movie is actually being made?
  14. That sucks about the bison, I remember hanging out by them in ZooAmerica. Hopefully it drains soon and the rest of the park is alright.
  15. I've never seen something so chock full of footers! Lets get some vertical up in here!
  16. You can still ride CP's Demon Drop at Dorney Park. I agree though, that is a fantastic ride. Edit: 200th post!
  17. I was thinking about this earlier. The windseeker, on the highway side of the park, with its' cool lighting package, will be a neat advertisement for the park.
  18. Skyrush, followed by Leviathan, Superman SFDK, and Verbolten Skyrush sounds like it could be one of the world's top 20 steels if it get's the right amount of Intamin love. I'm sure leviathan it going to do great as well.
  19. A large portion of amusement park rides have unhealthy volume levels (wood coaster tunnels, anyone?), and it hasn't been a major source of complaint so far. I imagine that S:EFK will continue operating like normal.
  20. Its obviously a conspiracy to sell fast passes....
  21. The blurb said either a 60 or 65 mph launch. I cant remember which...
