  1. Ninja - Six Flags over Georgia
  2. Kentucky Rumbler - Beech Bend
  3. My local resort, Wisp, is just shy of being open at 50%. The weather here has been iffy on most days for snow making.
  4. I am with you on this! I've suffered in pain much more on Maverick than Mean Streak over the years. I've only gotten hurt on Mean Streak once, but every time I ride Maverick, I'm in horrible pain from all of the head banging. I dread that second launch, as everything after that point is absolutely miserable. I WANT to like Maverick, I really do, but I just can't.
  5. That makes sense. I hadn't even thought of that being an issue.
  6. Before I rode the Boss, I figured that people just whined too much about how rough it was. At the bottom of the first drop, I quickly realized that I was wrong! Damn, that thing is awful! It has SUCH a promising layout. I wish the park would replace those god awful Gerstlauer trains and get real ones. It wouldn't be smooth, but it would be a hell of a lot better than it is now.
  7. The park is designed for kids, not old farts like us. I'm glad they used a spin-off of Mr. Roger's as the theme. I wonder if they will leave easter eggs in the new version. I'll be curious to see what the new ride is like, as I haven't ridden it in years. I've never watched the show, but I'm sure kids today will connect with it more than Mr. Rogers. Ask any kid nowadays about Fred Rogers and you'll probably hear crickets in the background.
  8. I wish a Panera would open in my town. Of course, if there were one, I'd eat there every day and gain 200 lbs....
  9. That is easily one of the most bizarre things I've ever heard! I hope the handcuffs weren't the "sexy" ones!
  10. I hadn't heard about Donna Douglas. Very sad to hear that we only have one of the Hillbillies left now.
  11. ^ I bought the Zelda one that came out a few years ago with the release of Wind Waker HD. A gold one would be gorgeous!
  12. I rode Viper for the first time during WCB this year, and it was easily one of the smoothest (and best) Arrows I've been on. I wouldn't want to ride it backwards, though.
  13. Boomerang was actually closed most/all of April because we were waiting for a part to be shipped from Vekoma. I can't remember the exact timeline of how long it was closed, but I believe it was all of April. However, it has been much more reliable this year with the new part. I'm sure there's some reason behind it, but I found it to be funny how there were problems with a Boomerang...in 2013. I'm not sure who you talked to as each department does their own staffing, some departments have a harder time getting staff in April and August. Either way, hopefully it wasn't too much of an inconvenience, and you were still able to have fun. I can confirm Boomerang was closed in April for minor technical difficulties, we had plenty of staffing for it, actually we had no staffing issues in April that I can remember of. From what I remember being told by some random manager-looking person walking around that the closure was because of a small number of guests that morning and the ride ops were sent home. If more guests arrived, they would open it up later in the day. I've heard that excuse from other Six Flags parks before, so I didn't take much issue from it (Although it is fairly irritating that I missed the credit).
  14. I'll join you, Bill! With how my future plans are coming together, 2017 looks like a perfect year to make a first trip to Japan!
  15. Nice report! I visited back in April, and I thought it was quite a charming park. Unfortunately, there was severe weather predicted for the afternoon, so the park decided to short staff the park. I was extremely surprised (and slightly upset) that the ONLY major closure was Boomerang. Only Six Flags would close their newest coaster...
  16. When you decide to go to Six Flags Great Adventure instead of your own college graduation. It was totally worth it.
  17. I've always been a fan of Mean Streak. It was one of my first big coasters, so it has a special place in my heart. That being said, I'm all in favor of an Iron Horse treatment on it.
  18. Maybe I'll see you at Cedar Point. Anyway. I'm (hopefully) going to be checking out: Thunderbird Wicked Cyclone Fury 325 Twisted Colossus
  19. Cedar Point doesn't have a problematic clientele. There are quite a few parks out there that don't have metal detectors.
  20. Kennywood 2015: Fix the inside of Garfield's Nightmare, rebuild the Whip pavilion, and repave the parking lot. Close Noah's Ark midway through the season for renovations. 2016: Reopen Noah's Ark to celebrate its 80th anniversary. Begin preparing the newly acquired land for expansion. 2017: Add nothing; begin construction on new expansion. 2018: Open new expansion. Featuring new dark ride, new wooden coaster, and a variety of flats. 2019: General park improvements.
  21. I don't know where you are in Minnesota or if you have to be home on the evening of that Tuesday, but Bay Beach may not be worth it. If you drive to the park that morning, get your rides in, and then drive back to Minnesota, it's going to be one hell of a day just for the one credit. It sounds like you're going with family, and a day like that may not be the best idea for a family trip (unless they're all big into coasters, too). I'd definitely recommend a good discussion about that day before giving it a definite green light. Other than that, sounds like you've got a good trip! Get the Platinum Flash Pass for Six Flags, and it'll be a fantastic trip!
  22. American Thunder - Six Flags St. Louis
  23. Not the first, but the tallest. Manhattan Express and Moonsault Scramble are/were over 200 feet and have inversions. You could also say that Steel Phantom was, too, because of the drop.
  24. Just found out that I don't have to work on Friday!
  25. Do I get double the good luck and evil spirit banishing power if I do both at once?
