  1. Just replace Glazer with SoB and you have a nice tune to go along with that. I would join the singing, but I dont think I'll ever get the chance to ride it.
  2. And because people doesnt know about the antirollbacks they are all going to belive that the speed is controlled and it just lost its power.
  3. The media here in Norway has been writing all sorts of silly stuff about this. They have been calling it another nasty incident and of course they mention the Rainbow accident in the same sentense. There was also one article where it said "No one was hurt in the sudden stop". Sudden stop, WTF??!!
  4. Only been on one, but its the biggest of them all so Im happy! Yngve "although I would have been even more happy if I could ride the 9 others aswell" Oestbye
  5. If you ask me there are no reasons why B&M cant build a gigacoaster. Im positive they could do it without any problems. However I cant see any parks wanting one when they can get a 200 ft version for far less money and the difference in popularity would be very small if any at all.
  6. The ride opened to the public today and media was there to cover the ride. There is a video including a full onride video on http://www.dagbladet.no/2009/05/23/reise/tusenfryd/tivoli/innenriks/6365369/
  7. I was quite sceptical about the color scheme when they started repainting it, but now I think it looks awesome. Theming looks pretty good too and the sound system in the middle of the train is just a brilliant idea. Is the ride running any better than it did with the old trains last year besided the special effects? It didnt live up to the hype for us and several people have said it was a bit slow last year. It was still a great ride and although I cant see myself riding it again in a very long time, I still hope that the ride can improve furthere as its something all coaster enthusiasts deserve.
  8. There are now some pictures of the ride on Tusenfryds web page. Opening date is set to May 23rd. http://www.tusenfryd.no/Se-og-gjoere/SpinSpider#gallery=10 I have for a long time been thinking that a giant frisbee would be the perfect ride for Tusenfryd as it doesnt have any major flatrides. Hopefully I'll get a chance to test it this summer.
  9. Im not surprised to hear that Superman wasnt running at its best last year. When we rode it in june were actually a bit dissappointed after our first ride. Perhaps our expectations were a bit high because our first thought on the brakerun was "thats it?". Still, we had a crapload of fun on it through the day, it just wasnt quite up there with rides like El Toro and Storm Runner. Great pictures! Theres nothing like a train full of happy riders with their arms in the air. --Yngve "I have been on both S&S Sky Swatters and I love them" Oestbye
  10. I managed to do it. It wasnt very hard though as thats where the outbreak started...
  11. I know this was written 2 years ago, but since this topic was brought back up I thought I would just comment this. You can clearly see in this picture that the trains on Nitro doesnt rest on its wheels when its not being used. I havent seen the transfer tracks on other B&M's, but I would imagine its similar. http://rcdb.com/ig1106.htm?picture=3 As for magnetic brakes, Im not a huge fan of them. I cant say they bother me that much, but they can make me slightly nasious(sp?) on a hot day if Im a bit dehydrated.
  12. Tusenfryd (Vinterbro, Norway) is getting a Zamperla Giant Frisbee named SpinSpider this season. Its scheduled to open this summer. The ride will be located in the area between Thundercoaster and Spaceshot (S&S tower). Its being said that this is larger, faster and more intense version of the Huss Giant Frisbees. Stats: Max height: 44 meters Speed: 115 km/h G-force: 4.5 Number of seats: 40 http://www.tusenfryd.no/Se-og-gjoere/SpinSpider#gallery=4 (Norwegian only)
  13. There are several onride videos on youtube. I must say it looks like a ridicilously fun ride.
  14. Me and a friend went to SFGADV last summer with thunderstorms expected. All the rides except Kingda Ka were open, even when it started raining. They didnt close them until it started pouring. However, later in the day there were some thunderstorms far away and they closed down every outdoor ride in the park for an hour and a half. It was quite frustrating as the sun was shining pretty much the entire time. Of course we had to make fun of the situation. My video can be seen here http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=SFGADV_um0a
  15. Past: Thriller (it still exists, but not in its original state) Present: Phoenix
  16. My list sure has changed since my last post in this thread. Besided the top 2 in each category I find it very hard to rank to rank the coasters, but it looks something like this: Wood: 1) El Toro 2) Phoenix 3) Thunderbird 4) Boulder Dash 5) Thundercoaster Steel: 1) Storm Runner 2) Nitro 3) Superman la Attracion de Acero 4) Katun 5) SROS (SFNE)
  17. Looks like it has some very nice lateral G-forces through the final turn into the brakerun. That was one of the things I really loved about Thunderbird. The laterals were so insane it was *almost* uncomfortable. This should definately be a crowd-pleaser!
  18. I LOVE how they built it right at the edge of the water. It should be a very nice view from the seats facing forwards as all you will see is water and the track dissappearing. And with the ride being twice as long as Kirnu, which totally rocks, it should be a fantastic experience!
  19. Kids arent the only ones sitting on the handrails and not listening to the ride-ops. One thing I have always wondered about is why some people hold their arms in the air the entire time while going up the lifthill. Looks silly in my opinion.....
  20. As all men I like big machines, and a rollercoaster is excactly that. What makes rollercoasters particularly fascinating is the fact that once the train leaves the lift/launch theres nothing powering the train besides gravity. A heavy train full of riders rolling over large hills and through loops and corkscrews is just a fascinating thought. And of course, they are damn fun to ride!
  21. On Kirnu they wouldnt dispatch with any empty seats. There was a short line for it all day (well, before it broke down) so there werent any problems filling the seats, but it meant that quite alot of people had to ride with a stranger. No one seemed to mind though.
  22. Ack such a shame! As for feeling slow, it did that in the summer of 2006 aswell. Fortunately I visited Tusenfryd in april the same year. It was raining so Thundercoaster was absolutely flying. Best coaster experience EVER!!! The right side of Rolling Thunder could use some work. It wasnt very bad, but it could be better. Many people may say its better to just demolish it, but the kids seemed to love the ride. Heck, even I thought it was fun!
  23. How much of Thundercoaster have they ruined? I know they have redone the 90 degree turn, which used to be one of my favorite parts because it threw you around a lot, but what else have they done? I havent been to the park since 2006 so I was planning to go back this year.
  24. Wood: El Toro is by far the best coaster I have been on, wood or steel. However, the best experience is riding Thundercoaster in the rain. No line, two-train operation and a ride that was just going "too fast" makes it the most amazing coaster experience Ive ever had. Unfortunately the average ride is nowhere near that good. This is closely followed by Boulder Dash and Thunderbird. I cant really decide which ride I think is the better one. Fifth on my list is Balder. Steel: I cant decide between Storm Runner and Nitro. Storm Runner is pure intensity, while Nitro is just a plain fun ride that I could ride all day long without getting bored. And then theres Wild Train, a ridicilously funny coaster. Followed by these rides comes a bunch of rides that I find very hard to rank; SROS @ SFNE, Tornado @ Särkänniemi, Katun, Superman la Attracion de Acero, Lisebergbanan, etc.....
  25. Nitro is still way better than SROS in my opinion.... Looking at these pictures really makes me want to ride a rollercoaster. I totally fell in love with Nitro last summer, and this ride looks like it has the potential to be even better. Its one of those rides that I could just stay on all day without getting bored.
