The official opening is on 24th of May, but some lucky kids have had the opportunity to test the ride and media was there to cover it. A raw POV has been released, along with a longer news report. The POV is somewhat shaky, but that is probably due to poor camera mounting. I can only repeat what I have said before about the ride, it looks very fun and I think its really cool that also the younger generation are getting more and more high-quality rides. http://www.nrk.no/ho/provekjor-denne-berg-og-dalbanen-1.11734961 (I'm not sure if the video works outside of Norway) I hope they will eventually do some more work with the surroundings around the ride, as right now the area is very bare.

Both Montu and Katun are quite long and I don't think they have a rattle, so I don't really know what it could be. Both yes and no. I rode Katun back in 2005, they were running two trains and there was a very significant difference between the trains. One was perfectly smooth, while the other train was shaking quite a bit, and it made a clear difference in ride quality. I assume this is a question of maintenance, and how this applies to a brand new ride like Banshee I'm not sure about... -
This list tells me that I need to travel more, only been on one in the top 10 (Superman SFNE before it became Bizarro), and a total of only 4 in the top 25.Funny thing though, my facorite is Storm Runner all the way down on 35th. But I guess it all comes down to personal preference. Its a good thing that I have Liseberg on my schedule for this year to ride Helix, because the first park on my list is to visit Tivoli Friheden to ride Cobra which is placed 348th in this years ballot.

For the marketing potential, I mean. GP often care about gimmicks/sound bites I think, maybe more than the real quality of some rides. That's true, but the point about the negative forces is exactly right - especially in the back car. Look at all the steepest coasters in the world. They all have 1,2 or 3 (max) car trains. In the back seat, of a train with 6 cars, you would virtually be catapulted from the ride! Either that or have trims controlling the speed of the train down the first hill - but do we really want that on Wildfire!? Storm Runner has a 90 degree drop with a 5-car train. Obviously still a bit on the short side, but it shows that it is still possible to do a vertical drop with an okay-capacity train. I must say I have wondered why this kind of drop has not been seen on a traditional lift rollercoaster as it would be a huge selling point towards the GP. But I guess capacity does also play an important part. As for Wildfire I dont care because its going to be freakin amazing! -

I looked at their website, holy hell people are complaining! I don't think they are realising what they are getting, this is by far going to be the best rollercoaster in Scandinavia. I'm starting to get very jealous of our Swedish neighbours, not only both Gröna Lund and Liseberg better than Tusenfryd, but with world-class rides like Helix and Wildfire you guys are really stepping it up. Hopefully it will spark some more competition here in Norway as well.... Fortunately Sweden is not that far away! -

Definately looks like Liseberg made the right decision to restart the project, Helix fits much better into the hillside. But its really cool to see how far Mack is willing to go with their designs, it makes the future real interesting! -

I agree completely about Batman. I actually feel like B&M inverts seem to maintain their smoothness over time better than any other coaster type (except for Schwarzkopf loopers). I've never experienced a rough ride on a B&M invert, and I really haven't even noticed a rattle. Raptor is a little jerky (I still love it though, it's not enough to detract from the ride experience) but I think it always was, it's not due to age or anything it's just how the ride was designed. I'm not sure what dictates smoothness but like you said B&M has built snappy, forceful coasters that are smooth as glass. Batman is a perfect example as are rides like Montu, Afterburn and Kumba. I think a lot has to do with train maintenance. I visited Mirabilandia in 2005 and they had 2 trains running on Katun that day. One train was quite shaky to a point where it started to affect rider comfort, while the other one was perfectly smooth. -
Gröna Lund Discussion Thread

Great pictures! Gröna Lund is one of my favorite parks and I hope to go back this season. Did Jetline just get repainted? It looks so fresh! -
This rollercoaster documentary. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] My parents recorded it for me as it was quite late at night for a young kid. Its still my favorite of all rollercoaster/themepark documentarys and it holds a special place in my heart. I dont know the exact year, but since Dragon Kahn is featured in the intro it cannot have been before 1995. I since watched it dozens of times for years even before I rode my first proper rollercoaster in 2002. So for me the interest came long before I started riding.

Could you imagine IronThundercoaster? It seems like the perfect candidate to get the I-box treatment IMO. Now that would be amazing! But while it does take a little toll on your body, Thundercoaster is not in the group of coasters which desperately need a makeover. I think the most exciting possibility in Europe is Magnus Colossus, image what RMC could do with that location.

I absolutely LOVE this new structure! I think it makes the first drop more impressive, maybe because the support structure follows the same curvature as the drop so that the shape of the drop is visible from all angles?? I also really like the bridge-like apperance of the upside-down stall element. RMC is definately changing the way we look at rollercoasters. Honestly I dont care what material its made of as long as it rides great, and I'm 100% sure this ride will! Hope we can see RMC expand into Europe in the future, whether its to build new rides or redo some of the crappy woodies we have here as well.

Sure looks like a Zierer to me, the supports for the tower are near identical to Wicked. Either way it looks like a very fun ride, and a good addition for Knoebels.
